INTRODUCTION
General Info
Course Contents
This subject will discuss a basic concepts of introduction to
global energy system and energy Somali. Nonrenewable and
renewable resources. We also discuss in details about solar
resources, photovoltaic energy system. Grid-Tied, off-Grid and
hybrid solar systems. Product knowledge of solar systems. Off
grid solar system sizing. Fundamentals, operation and control
of wind power. Geothermal energy. Biomass and biogas
energy. Fuel cells and small hydropower system.

Course Learning Outcome (CLO)
CLO1: Ability to analyze and design the conversion of Solar
Photovoltaic, energy from wind, hydro, biomass,
biogas and fuel cell to electrical power.
CO2: Ability to evaluate the conversion of Solar
Photovoltaic, energy from wind, hydro, biomass,
biogas and fuel cell for economic analysis.
CO3: Ability to analyze the conversion of Solar Photovoltaic,
energy from wind, hydro, biomass, biogas and fuel cell
for system performance.

PO1:Design solutions for complex engineering problems and
design systems, components or processes that meet specified
needs with appropriate consideration for public health and
safety, cultural, societal, and environmental consideration.
PO2:Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources,
and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and
modelling, to complex engineering problems, with understanding
of the limitations.
PO3:Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of
professional engineering work in the solutions of complex
engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts
including ability to have entrepreneurship skills.
