Holographic Navigation

A navigation system is consists of:

 containing maps, which may be displayed in human readable format via text or in a
graphical format
 determining a vehicle or vessel's location via sensors, maps, or information from external
sources
 providing suggested directions to a human in charge of a vehicle or vessel via text or
speech
 providing directions directly to an autonomous vehicle such as a robotic probe or guided
missile
 providing information on nearby vehicles or vessels, or other hazards or obstacles
 providing information on traffic conditions and suggesting alternative directions

An automotive navigation system is part of the automobile controls or a third party add-on


used to find direction in an automobile. It typically uses a satellite navigation device to get its
position data which is then correlated to a position on a road. When directions are needed
routing can be calculated. On the fly traffic information can be used to adjust the route.

What is a holographic navigation?

A hologram is a physical structure that diffracts light into an image. The term ‘hologram’
can refer to both the encoded material and the resulting image.
A holographic image can be seen by looking into an illuminated holographic print or by
shining a laser through a hologram and projecting the image onto a screen. Other methods of
projecting and reflecting images are often described as holographic – or even misleadingly
holograms, because they have an optical presence, spatial quality or iridescent colors.
While it the past it there was a clear distinction technology is evolving to create virtual
holograms by steering light into an image. Augmented reality systems like the HoloLens often
use a Holographic Optical Elements to make a video projection appear at comfortable viewing
distance. The virtual objects in augmented reality are a kind of ‘virtual hologram’
