CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Origin and Justification of the Study
One of the trends business today is the continuous development of
fashion trends designing and different sewing machine in different places.
However things might not strenuous we always encounter problems. Based
on our experience during our on the Job Training (OJT) in the field of sewing
industry. The most common problem we encountered are: Lack of spaces,
unorganized things like (Threads, Needles, Scissors, Tape Measure, etc.),
Table where you can draft, layout your pattern and cutting fabrics. For this
reason we come up to create our product with the Sewing Machine with
Modern Table.
With these ideas, the researchers decided to make a sewing machine
with modern table to help those people specifically tailors and dressmakers.
This kind of sewing machine has its own table for drafting patterns,
transferring patterns and of cutting fabrics. This kind of sewing machine has
its own table with the following sizes height: 29 ¾ inches, Length: 39 ¾
inches and for the width: 16 inches and table measurement of 24x39 ¾
inches for drafting or laying out the pattern and as well as cutting the fabrics,
2
it also has a drawer where they can put their tools and equipment properly
and secure.
This type of sewing machine with modern table is giving you a lot of
uses, this is not just an ordinary machine but this could be the best solution to
our hardworking tailors and dressmakers.
By having this you won’t waste any seconds or minutes of your time,
continuous work with or without the presence of electricity wherein you can
successfully meet the expected date for your customer to get their clothes
might it be pants, dress or anything sewn or repair. Having the cabinet you
can make sure that all tools needed are secure and won’t waste your time
looking for one tools or another and if lost you have to replace and spend
again which can happen many times, by having this machine each tailor will
prevent from experiencing this. If there’s an electricity and the tailor or
dressmaker wants to sew there for faster and less stress they will just connect
the electric motor to the traditional sewing machine which is the paddle type
and start sewing by carefully and slowly pressing the foot onto the electric
motor, then when black out strikes they can just remove the electric motor
and just use the paddle, so work is still ongoing which makes better for a
tailor because he/she will earn more and satisfied customer needs because
they will able to meet the said due date. In addition, this type of machine
could be of big help also especially to those who has a smaller space in their
dress shop because this sewing machine with modern table has it all for a
better production.
3
Statement of the Problem
The developmental study is intended to evaluate the acceptability of
Selling “Sewing Machine with Modern Table”.
a) Is the Sewing Machine with Modern Table durable and
affordable?
b) How Sewing Machine with Modern Table does greatly assisted
those tailors and dressmakers?
c) What is the satisfactions of the Sewing Machine with Modern
Table compare to the other version of sewing machine out in the
market?
Objectives of the Study
With the concept of the researchers mind, they want to find out the
output of their studies this following objectives were developed.
a. Design and construct a Sewing Machine with Modern Table.
b. Demonstrate the usefulness of the Sewing Machine with
Modern Table.

c. Test and evaluate the usefulness of the Sewing Machine with
Modern Table.
Significance of the Study
The researchers wanted to try another type of sewing machine which
can help those students whose taking up garments and or fashion design
introducing them on how to run this type of machine and where they can put
their sewing tools and equipment.
This aimed to determine the another type of sewing machine with
modern table which can help;
Students. The findings of this study will be great helped to students
who wished to be a Garments and Fashion Designer. Through this study,
students will be able how to run and draft pattern easily in one area.
Tailors and Dressmakers. The result of this study gives solution in
terms of working space allotted for the tailors to work on. This study also
gives convenience space to work on faster and easier.
Scope and Delimitation of the Study
This study is focused in creating a sewing machine with modern table
and demonstrated on how the product was made.

The respondents were purposively selected from 10 different tailoring
and dress shop within 7 km from parameter from the Zamboanga City State
Polytechnic College (ZCSPC) Ayala Extension Classes area.
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
This chapter deals with the survey of related studies and findings of
related literature that may help and contribute to enrich the present research
study. To have the better and clear perspective of the research process,
some survey and ideas that are parallel to the present research study were
utilize.
Related Literature
Moore (2018) described that a sewing machine table is presented
having a first top section which is rigidly mounted to the table frame and a
second section which abuts the first section in horizontal alignment when
raised and which is rotatable affixed to the frame for movement away from
said first top section. The sewing machine table can be used to sew flat
goods with the first and second top sections in contiguous horizontal
alignment. A pivot able mechanism allows the second top section to pivot
6
away and downwardly from the first table top section for sewing more
dimensioned goods such as baseball caps and the like.
In addition, Garza (2019) published an online article entitled “We’ve Got a
Hunch You Need an Ergonomic Sewing Machine Table” and she said that s ewing
should make you feel happy, productive and totally in the zone. What it
definitely shouldn't do is kill your back. But without a sewing-machine table
that fits your body, all that hunching forward is eventually going to cause
some misery. You need a table that gives you support in all the right places.
Start by checking out the Occupational Health and Safety Administration's
ergonomic tips for sewing tables; these suggestions are aimed mainly at
industrial garment workers but are just as useful for home sewers. Then,
when you're ready to go table-shopping, keep these five key rules in mind: 1.
Your Table Should Keep Your Work at Elbow Height and Your Wrists Straight
If your sewing-machine table is too low, you'll end up hunching forward and
straining your back, neck and shoulders (ouch!). If the table is too high, you’ll
have to raise your shoulders to work — not so fun for your neck and upper
back either. Your work should be at elbow height when you're standing.
(Same is true when you're at a cutting table, BTW.) The size of your work
surface also matters: It should be large enough to comfortably fit your
machine, plus any task lighting you need. Oh, and let's not forget your legs:
There should be enough room between your thighs and the table so you can
easily work the foot pedal without fe eling like you're being crushed; 2. The
Perfect Table Width Depends on the Type of Work You Usually Do . If you
7
sew a lot of full-length ball gowns, you'll want a wider sewing table than if
you're dealing with kids' clothes. Either way, you don’t want to be le aning way
over or scrunching up; 3. Your Sewing Table Should Work With Your Height .
Since everyone has a different elbow height, a custom-made sewing table is
ideal, especially if you're on the tall or short side. If custom isn't an option, see
what’s available at your nearest craft store. And you don't actually have to go
with an official sewing table. A regular table can be perfect for sewing or
cutting, if its dimensions make sense for your size and project needs. You
might even find a small kitchen table that works perfectly for you. If you want
to furnish your sewing room on a budget, scour garage sales and thrift stores
to find a table with the right dimensions to fit your size — and make sure you
take a tape measure along when you're shopping; 4. The Chair You Use
Makes a Big Difference. When you're sitting in your chair, your feet should
rest flat on the floor and the work surface should still be at elbow height. If you
get an adjustable height chair, you'll have more leeway in getting the perfect
fit and making tweaks if you need to. 5. A Simple Adjustment May Be All You
Need. If you find a sewing table (or chair) that feels right— or almost right —
try altering it so it's spot-on perfect. For example, can you cut the table legs
down a little or use wooden or cinder blocks to raise them a bit? The table
you've got your eye on may be just one quick fix away from an A+ in
ergonomics.
Moreover, Gursoy (2012) who used an integer mathematical
programming method to improve the performance of the sewing operations of
8
a clothing manufacturer. A heuristic algorithm was arrived at which was
transferred to a usable software programme which provide solutions for
reducing the number of operators in an assembly line.
Furthermore, Sunny (2018) wrote an online article entitled “Best
Sewing Machine Tables: Reviews” he said that a beginner or expert sewist or
an individual who just love sewing and enthusiastic about showcasing your
crafting skills, you need a sewing table. The best sewing machine tables have
several drawers, compartments to store not only your sewing machine but
accessories as well such as the scissor, presser feet, seam ripper, thread,
needle pack, bobbin pack etc. Imagine, you are getting ready to start with
your sewing project but don’t find the scissors or other accessories you need
to get started. It is really very frustrating and sometimes because of this, you
postpone your plan to sew to some other day when you find all the
accessories. If you had a sewing table and you had placed all your items, you
would just go to the table and be ready to sew. Not just the best sewing tables
help you organize your sewing machine and accessories, it gives your sewing
room a nice look as well. Moreover, it saves your sewing machine and
accessories from dust. Again, to use a sewing machine in a better way, you
need stability, ample space to spread the fabric or the quilt nicely. The best
sewing machine tables are designed keeping all these things in mind. We
have created below list of the best sewing machine tables after interacting
with the sewers keep reading till the end. Sunny list down some
characteristics of a good sewing machine tables and these are;
9
Foldable Sewing Table
The name pretty much explains everything about such types of sewing
machine tables. Such type of sewing machines are having legs which you can
fold and store under your bed or in a not-so-wide area. Although they are
easy to store, but when it comes to the stability needed to start sewing with
your sewing machine, we find they aren’t much stable. They have shaken
legs which may upset and demotivate you. We don’t want you to get
demotivated. However, if your house is congested and doesn’t have much
place to put a wide crafting table, this is the best option. But if you go for the
folding sewing table, get the quality table and make sure it is stable when
unfolded.
Adjustable
The adjustable sewing machines offer you the flexibility to adjust the
weight and width of your sewing machine table. You can adjust the height
based on your comfort ability. Some people are tall and some are not so,
hence there is always some adjustment needs to be done in order to
comfortably sit and sew. Generally, the height of a sewing machine should be
adjusted in such as a way that you could comfortably place your elbow on the
table. Sewing requires you to sit for long hours, hence it is very important that
the height of your sewing machine table should be properly adjusted so that
you don’t feel pain in your hand or the back.
10
Collapsible
This is my favorable sewing machine table because they have plenty
of storage capacity and they are beautifully designed. The collapsible sewing
machine tables are easy to assemble when you want to use your sewing
machine and disassemble when not.
It Saves a Lot of your Space.
But such type of sewing machines tables are bit expensive than others.
Though they worth spending that much money. Though some people find it
irritating to assemble and disassemble.
Portable
Portable sewing machines tables are the basic tables with not much as
big surface area as other types of sewing machine tables. They are easy to
move from one place to others because of being lightweight as compared to
others.
Lastly, Guner (2013) analysed several line balancing techniques in
order to determine their efficiency as they related to the apparel industry. In
the context of the specific line studied, no one method was formed to be
substantially better in terms of efficiency than another.
11
Related Studies
An area of research having great relevance to the study of assembly
lines (especially the manual type) would be studies of production systems as
they relate to the apparel industry. This would be the due to the fact that most
of the work performed in the manufacture of clothing is labour intensive and
manually, thus giving rise to stochastic (variable).
Tokura, [Link] (2011) who invented a sewing machine that includes a
needle bar, an image capture device, and a control device. A sewing needle
is mounted on a lower and of the needle bar. The image capture device also,
creates image date, and performing colour-related correction.
Unlike the first inventor Tokura, its Andres Hjalmarson, [Link] (2013)
who next invented a sewing machine that has access to memory for stitch
date and processor for reading said stitch date and for operating the sewing
machine to execute stitches according to stitch data, wherein the sewing
machine has a hoop for framing a pattern of the sewing materials, and
moving the formed pattern in a direction comprising a component of at last
one of a first coordinate (X) and second coordinate (Y) and wherein further
the processor (C) controls movement of the hoop according to said direction
in relation to the position of a needle (S) of executing stitches wherein the
stretched sewing materials is clamped to the formed pattern of the sewing
materials is scanned by means of camera mounted in the sewing machine.
12
Then, Barbara Brindzick, [Link] (2013) introduced a system and method
for receiving and selection of a first stitch pattern, operatives sewing machine
to sew the first stitches pattern onto a material, receiving a selection of a
second stitch pattern and operating the sewing machine to sew the second
stitch pattern onto the material, wherein the combination of a first stitch
pattern and the second stitch pattern create a stacked stitch pattern on the
material.
In addition, Keonroad Alexander Giesles, [Link] (2016) he’s the one who
disclosed a household type sewing machine that includes a transmitter
configured to connect to a local device such as a Wi-Fi device and an image
capture device configured to capture a video of a work piece being sewn by
the household type sewing machine. The transmitter is configured to tend the
video captured by the image capture device to the local device.
Consequently, Daniel Le Elliot, [Link] (2017) introduce the present
invention which relates to a quilting machine, or sticker further including a
centrally located swivelling tablet mount for securing process. The amount is
positioned such that a user may access the mount from either side or the rear
or front of the stitches. The mount is one capable of swivelling so that the
user does not have to move the tablet between front and rear mounts of the
stitches or buy some separate tablets for a front or rear mount.
Furthermore, Jaganathan (2014) who studied the sewing operations of
a clothing manufacturer in an effort to improve its performance. The largest
13
candidate rule algorithm (LCR) was employed in an effort to bring the facility
into mentioned author argued there would be an almost 50% increase in line
efficiency as well as a 25% increase in hourly productivity.
Lastly, as a result of previous inventions, Takeshi Kongo, [Link] (2018)
finally introduced a sewing data generating apparatus that acquires
information with respect to an embroidery frame. The sewing data generating
apparatus acquires an image including a base cloth mounting a sewing target
and mounted on the embroidery frame and analyses a correspondence
between acquired information. The sewing data generating apparatus
generates sewing data based on the outline data thus generated. The sewing
machines execute sewing for the outline of the sewing target according to the
sewing data thus received. This allows an appliqué to be sewn at an accurate
position without a need to prepare dedicated date.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents the Summary, Findings, Conclusion, and
Recommendation of the study.
35
Summary
One of the trends businesses today in continuous development of
fashion trends designing and different Sewing machine. The Sewing machine
played as an essential role in the textile, cloth and apparel Industry. Sewing
Machine was invented during the first industrial revolution to decrease the
amount of manual sewing. The researcher makes a product using traditional
machine diverting into modern one. In which can use both sewing paddle and
electric motor with and without the presence of electricity. Sewing Machine
with modern table has a greatly benefited to the textile as well as the
consumer.
The aim goal of the researchers is to develop a sewing machine from
Traditional into Modern one. Were the main focus of this development study
are the those students whose are taking up a garments courses, fashion
designer, tailors, dressmakers, aspiring designer, as well as the market
Industry. Moreover we came up to this feasibility by conducting survey and
observed in the field of Sewing Industry.
The over-all result of Sewing Machine with modern table was able to
gain a quiet impressive rating of “Strongly Agree” base on the impressions of
expert Instructor, Tailors, Dressmakers. As the result, the researchers found
out that the Sewing machine with modern table has a Very Satisfactory
feedback from the field of Tailoring Industry.
36
Conclusion
The invention of the sewing machine greatly benefited the textile
industry and the consumer. Through this, the researchers came up with an
idea of innovating an important part of a sewing machine which is the sewing
machine table. With this innovation, it offered an additional work space and a
motor was also included to add an additional feature for an ordinary sewing
machine. With this innovation, clothing could be mass produced, thereby
reducing the time needed to finish a cloth. This is to give satisfaction, and
makes sewer life’s easier and convenient
Recommendations
On the basic of the result and conclusion of the study the following
recommendation are here by proposed.
The present researchers will recommend those incoming new
researchers to put an additional light at the top so that the tailors and
37
dressmakers can see clearly even at night time. This could be of big
help especially to those old tailors and dressmakers.
The researchers would suggest adding a trash can where the tailors
and dressmakers can throw their trash or garbage.
Innovated sewing machine would be much better by adding edger on
it, so that tailors and dressmakers will no longer buy an edger instead
they can have it in just one machine.
Among other things, we would suggest to add electric fan to cool down
and get the air in their shop moving.
The researchers would suggest adding a speaker to give a new aura
and tone.
