AIM FOR NATURAL
1 SUGARS
Natural sugars tend to have vitamins
and minerals, and they are found in
fruits, veggies, and whole grains.
LOW SODIUM
2 Choose foods with a lower sodium
content to help control blood pressure,
which can be common in people with
diabetes. Food sources that have low
sodium include fruits, veggies, and
whole grains.
HIGH FIBER
Fiber aids in digestion and keeps
3 the gut healthy. Fiber has also
been shown to reduce the risk of
Type II Diabetes. Fiber can be
found in fruits, veggies, and whole
grains.
HEART-HEALTHY
4 FATS
Heart-healthy fats help control blood
sugar levels in people with diabetes.
Food sources of this nutrient include
nuts, eggs, and nut butters.
BALANCED
Balanced snacks ensure the
5 body is receiving an array of
nutrients. This means choosing a
snack with carbohydrates,
protein, and fat.
