Kangaroos

Kangaroos are also one of Australia’s most iconic species. They live all over Australia, and
inhabit woodlands, semi-arid forests, and fields. Living in “mobs” containing around 10 kangaroos, they
also experience habitat destruction, though not as heavily as the koala. Logging, clearing, and burning
lead to DEVASTATING results. Kangaroos are also hunted for meat. This barbarity (Barbarity: act of
extreme cruelty. Absence of humanity. Criminality.) started since the Europeans came to Australia,
destroying the native habitat and plowing through forests. Not much has changed from the early 1700.
Kangaroos’ diets consist of leaves, grasses, and other vegetation. Ignorant farmers burning forests
to plant crops do not realize the threats of this behavior. This may lead to wildfires, which affects
kangaroos as much as it affects US. They are marsupials, meaning that their young stay in their pouches
for the first few months. Kangaroos can jump up to a meter high, using its strong legs to jump and its tail
to balance. There are four types of kangaroos. The Western Grey kangaroo, the Eastern Grey kangaroo,
the Red kangaroo, and the Philippine kangaroo, all of which experience hunting and habitat loss.
Philippine kangaroos are the most endangered.
