Lesson Reflection for KG 2C Math Class

The lesson reflection summarizes a lesson on sequencing events from the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" for a KG2C class. The teacher differentiated activities based on students' skill levels. Positive reinforcement was used, such as praise and explanation rather than criticism. The lesson built up skills by first ensuring students understood the story, then having them retell and sequence events. Most students remained engaged and on task. For future lessons, the teacher plans to model retelling stories more to further develop students' speaking skills.

K2R 3.1.5 Begin to sequence events from familiar stories
Social: Roles and responsibilities

Emotional: Self-image and awareness

How did you cater for learners with special needs, and for differentiation? There is no special needs on the
class but in center activity time I did a student’s differentiation: Master student: they will write and draw the very
hungry caterpillar first, middle and end for example first the caterpillar was hungry so they will draw the caterpillar and write
“hungry”
Development students: draw and write “first, middle and end”
Emergent students: they will only draw the caterpillar in 3 stages
How did you use positive reinforcement? Methods? For what? When I asked the students a question even
if they answered if incorrect I didn’t say for them this in incorrect question I correct it for them or explain
the question again in easier way, and motivate them by saying for them a good word such as: good work,
you are smart. And give them a lot of examples before asking them any new Question
How did you sequence or scaffold activities so that they built gradually towards the learning objectives?
Before I gave the students the activity to arrange the caterpillar in 3 stages I ensure each students
understand the story well, and for the home work I explain it for them then I let them ask Question if they
have.

Overall aim and context of the lesson (that is, describe the lesson’s place in the unit of work. What did
students need to know before today’s LOs were addressed? What topic comes next and how did today’s
lesson prepare students for that?) the outcomes for today’s lesson is K2R 3.1.5 Begin to sequence events
from familiar stories

Where did the lesson take place? Microsoft teams App
What were you aiming to achieve in your lesson? My aim is to let the students know the story event and
arrange it in correct way
What experiences did you provide to the students to help them to achieve your aims for them? I play the
story many times for the student to ensure they remember it and then I give each students chance to retell
the story
Analyze
Were students excited, always occupied, and remained on task during the lesson? The student excited
when I asked them to retell the story because they felt happy when I gave them a chance to talk alone and
they felt confidents
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did? Some of the students was naughty and I
teach them how to mute them self and if they did a noise I asked them to mute them self.
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding? the outcomes for today’s lesson is
K2R 3.1.5 Begin to sequence events from familiar stories, Count 1 to 10, and the student took math
lesson they are familiar with counting from 1 to 10 and they able to count the foods that’s caterpillar ate

Appraise
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective.
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Use your students’ performance on the end of lesson
assessment as support (Give proof in your portfolio)
At the end of the lesson I gave each student a chance to retell the story and explain what they did in the
activity and 80% of the students able to retell the story.

Transform
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice of helping students to enhance their learning in
this particular way? (i.e. what skill will you have to develop or learn? What professional development will
you have to undertake?)
In the future, I will try to retell the story for the student by myself to let them learn how to read a story in a
good way then I will let them to listen to the story in this way their speaking skills will improve more
