GroupM acquires majority stake in MediaCom India
WPP-owned media investment management arm GroupM on 24th January 2017 said it has acquired
a majority stake in the media agency MediaCom India, a joint venture between GroupM India and
Sam Balsara, the principal shareholder of the Madison Media group. GroupM operates WPP’s media
agencies including Mindshare, MEC, MediaCom, Maxus, Essence and Motivator in India. Its
primary purpose is to maximize the performance of WPP’s media agencies by operating as leader
and collaborator in trading, content creation, sports, digital, finance, and proprietary tool
development.
GroupM Will Push Forward With Efforts to Measure Ads Across Screens
GroupM, the large and influential media-buying unit owned by ad-industry giant WPP, is working on
a methodology that would allow advertisers to count the number of impressions their commercials
get, no matter if they appear on TV, alongside streaming video or other in new viewing frontiers. The
company is working with the Video Advertising Bureau, the industry group that promotes content
from big media outlets ranging from ABC to Viacom.

SOS Children's Villages is launching an integrated marketing effort that includes its first
ever Public Service Announcement (PSA) in the United States. The PSA will air across a
number of networks during the fall season through support from the Midas Exchange, a WPP

GroupM and Mindshare Mexico met with their philanthropic partner, Smile Train, in
Mexico City in August 2016. Many of the patients were children, preparing for the life
changing surgery of fixing their cleft lips or palates. Some spoke about the difficulty of
having cleft palates and their amazing, arduous journeys to get help, giving insight into why
