Future forms
There are three ways of expressing future:
Future Simple (will + verb)
Be going to
Present continuous (be + Ving)
I. Present Continuous for future is used when we have an arrangement (we know
the time, place or people we are going to see).
e.g. I am visiting my doctor tomorrow at 5 pm. (The doctor knows that I’m
coming)
I am flying to Moscow tomorrow. ( I already have tickets)
II. Next goes be going to - is used when we have a plan or intention to do
something.
e.g. I am going to visit my parents next weekend (they might not know about it
yet)
- Or when we talk about predictions with evidence:
e.g. Our team is going to win tonight! The score is 2 -0 and there is only 2 minutes
left! (You are sure about it)
III. And last thing last, goes Future simple. It’s used for:
- predictions without evidence
e.g. Our team will win tonight. I saw it in my dream. (not good evidence)
- offers
e.g. I will help you with your bags
Shall I help you with your bags? (if an offer is a question)
- promises
I’ll come back tomorrow (I promise)!
- instant decisions
Oh, this dress is beautiful! I’ll take it!
