WHY: I’ve always loved English and wanted to share my love of education with others. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher
so majoring in English education felt right.
What: I want to inspire students to work hard and try their best. I also want to help them lay the foundation needed to
meet their goals.
How: I will further discover what it means to be an educator and how I can help all different kinds of students so that I can
be a teacher they look back on and remember fondly.

Throughout the semester in 199 we had several virtual study trips that aligned with the COE core values. The International School of Indiana
exemplified the application of diversity and similarity by hosting students of many different nationalities who speak several different languages.
ISI also exemplified the excitement of teaching, learning and mentoring by offering to let 199 students substitute teach at the school in order to
help prepare us for our own classrooms in the future. Due to COVID-19 all of our study trips had to be converted to virtual trips which aligned
with the COE core value of technology proficiencies as we become very familiar with Zoom and all of its features. The COE core values of the
challenge of integrated practice and collaboration and the strength of integrity and responsibility were both demonstrated in our visit to Riley
Hospital for Children. Education at Riley Hospital looks very different than it does in a traditional classroom which can be a challenge for teachers
but also forces them to think outside the box and focus on how to make sure that child at Riley receives the same standard of education as a
child in a traditional school. I’m so excited to continue on in the College of Education and learn more while I work towards earning my degree
and becoming a teacher.
