Classroom Rules/ Consequences and Classroom Procedures
Beginning of Class
Students should enter the classroom respectfully with indoor voices as they take their
seat.
Students will be considered late if they are not in the room by the final bell.
Seating arrangements will be assigned for the first couple of weeks in class, however I
will be open to open seating within the next quarter.
The signal that class will be staring will by me turning the lights off and on, followed
with a greeting.
During Public Address (PA) Announcements, students are expected to be quiet and pay
attention.
Managing the Class Movement
Students may leave their seats when advised for engaging learning, group work, and
classroom activities. If they need to use the restroom or get up to stretch, they will be able
to do so as well by asking.
To avoid from being questioned in the hall, students will need to ask for a restroom or
room pass when leaving during classroom hours.
If students are unable to get a clear answer from their peers, students can get help from
me by raising their hand or by staying after class to ask a question.
When working in groups, students are expected to use indoor voices to be mindful of
their classmates and other classrooms. Students will be instructed if we will be moving
desks or changing seats. One group member will come up to gather their learning
material once situated.
To be curious of others, students will be expected to raise their hand to talk. There will be
classroom discussion days where raising your hand will not be necessary and talking out
is encouraged, however it is important to be mindful of the noise level.
When peers are presenting, students are expected to give their full attention and write
down 3 compliments or factors they took away from their peer’s presentation. We will
have jars to place these comments regarding their presentation.
If a student is missing their supplies, there will be supplies they can access and borrow
from the teacher at the back of the classroom.
If a student needs to sharpen their pencil, they can do so before I get into the lesson that
may require notetaking or before they are expected to work on an assignment. An electric
sharpener will be next to the supplies station.
Lessons that require materials or special equipment will be handed to students after
instructions have been given.
Paper Work
Assignments will be collected by passing assignments to the front of their row.
Makeup work will be turned in a makeup file where students will have their assigned
folders.
Handouts will be distributed to the first person of the row and the students can take one
and pass them back.
Assignments that are not submitted upon collection will be considered late. Late work
will be accepted, however 5% will be taken off for each day the assignment is late.
Makeup work such as tests and quizzes can be done during lunch, before and after school
hours. Students will need to come to me to plan so I can accommodate them. Makeup
work will need to be completed within the week that the student was absent.
Late projects, research papers, and portfolios will be graded with a penalty of 15% once
received.
Course Outline
Students will be given an outline of the course that will include assignment due dates. This
will include major assignments due dates as well. We will stick with the syllabus dates as
much as possible, however they will be made aware if any modifications are needed to be
made. Grading scale will be included within the students syllabus as well.
