II. Course Title: GOOD GOVERNANCE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (Business Ethics)
III. Course Description: This course is designed to give students the overview of the different ethical and
social responsibility issues that are facing business entities. It will provide the students the avenue to
recognize and manage ethical and social responsibility issues, and to help them create their own
standards of integrity and professionalism. It will increase the awareness on the ethical facet of
businesses, and give the students a clear picture of the importance of upholding social responsibility
and business ethics in their future careers.
IV. Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the term, the students are expected to:
1. Determine different ethical issues faced by professionals in a business setting
2. Define and elaborate the principles, goals of business ethics, good governance and social
responsibility
3. Identify major issues and developments towards a greater appreciation and understanding of good
governance and social responsibility
4. Determine their value as citizen, future entrepreneurs, employee, and business executive, with
regards to upholding the value of business ethics and social responsibility
5. Be able to come up with feasible recommendations and solutions to curb the presence of ethical
issues within an institution/ workplace.

Faculty Marked Assignments- 15%

VII. Online Class House Rules/Guidelines:
A. Forums and Class discussions will be facilitated using Facebook Group. A topic will be
posted and students are expected to share their insights, opinions, and contributions using
the comment box.
B. Chats will be done weekly (Every Friday, 07:45 P.M. – 08:45 P.M). This will be the
avenue for class interaction (Online Recitations/ Questions/ Additional Class Instructions)
C. In case that a student will not be able to attend out scheduled chat, kindly inform the
Instructor on the reason so he/ she may be excused from the recitation
D. Faculty Marked Assignments- It is mainly composed of Essays/ Reflections/ Position Paper
on a particular subject matter. Topics and Deadlines will be given in advance so that students
can maximize their time in doing the FMA. Google forms will be utilized for this requirement.
E. Case Studies will be done via Google Forms. Deadline will be set in answering the case
studies.
F. For the final exam, each student will be tasked to choose one case from

A case digest will be required from the student and will be asked to answer questions.

G. Online debate will be used by this class to gauge the critical thinking of the student. A topic
will be posted and student will use the comment box to raise their arguments. Use of obscure,
impolite and unnecessary words or any form of media in the online class is strictly prohibited.
H. Resources in the form of PPT, PDF, and cite links will be provided. However, students may
also use and search in other resources as they deem needed and necessary. Proper citation
of resources is a must to avoid plagiarism.
