Social media negatively impacts many people's body image in several ways. It can affect anyone, but especially young females ages 10-17. People compare their physical selves to unrealistic, filtered images on platforms like Instagram and feel the need to match up. This constant exposure and comparison starting at a young age can lead to mental health issues like depression, eating disorders, and low self-esteem. The impacts are widespread and found all over the world as people engage with social media for many hours each day.
