COURSE SYLLABUS
I. College
Vision: Mary the Queen College of Quezon City envisions itself as prime producer of high skilled and trained professionals in the field of Science and
Technology by providing a quality education that will equip them to compete globally.

II. Course Title : RIZAL LIFE, WORKS AND WRITINGS

III. School Year : 2015-2016
IV. Course Description : A study of the life, works and writings of Dr. Jose P. Rizal, the national hero and martyr, as they relate to the socio-political situation of
the Philippines during his time and its implication to our present time. It traces the hero’s life, ideals, concept of education, good government, and nationalism as
embodied in his writings, particularly the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.
V. Course Credits : 3 units/ Semester
VI. Course Outcome : In this course, students must have to;
1. Learn and understand the life of Dr. Jose P. Rizal from his birth to his martyrdom.
2. Analyze the impact of Rizal’s life in relation to his contribution on the socio-political situation of the Philippines then and the present time.
3. Critically understand Rizal’s heroism and realize the significance of his ideas in the present time
4. Interpret the selected poem, essays and novels and its impact to socio-political situation during the past and present time.

The class will divide into groups. Each group will go to their assigned museums and ancestral houses to study the relics and primary source materials related to the
life of Dr. Jose Rizal.
