Creating Christmas card using Microsoft Word
Inserting images from the Internet
1. Locate the image online that you want to place on your Christmas card.
2. Right click on that image and choose Copy from the drop down menu.
3. Right click in Microsoft Word and choose Paste from the drop down menu.
4. Select your image by clicking on it. Click on the Text Wrapping tool and select
Behind Text. This will allow you to move the image anywhere on the page.
5. You can resize the image by dragging from any corner toward the center of the image.
You would drag away from the center to make it larger. You should avoid making it
larger since that will affect the quality of the image.
Making Borders around your image
1. Select the image to put a border around it.
2. Click on the Line Style tool and pick a line pattern or

1. To insert text, click on Insert | Text Box from the main menu. Text box
2. Click on the screen and drag your box to insert your text.
3. Type inside the box.
4. Change the font style, size and color by selecting the text and changing your
options using the Formatting toolbar.

Adding AutoShapes
1. Click on the Shapes tool to select an auto shape.
2. Scroll up to each possible shape possibility to view what shapes are available.
3. Click down and drag the AutoShape on the document. Make sure not to draw the
shape inside the working box that may appear saying “Create your drawing here” .
Adding Images inside of AutoShapes
1. Save an image in one of your folders, preferably an images folder.
2. Select the AutoShape after you have created it as shown above.
3. Click on the drop down menu of the paint bucket and choose Fill Effects
4. When the Fill Effects window pops up, select the Picture tab.
5. Click on the Select Picture tab.
6. Locate the image in your folder and select it.
7. Once the image has been selected, click on the OK button and the image will be in the
AutoShape.
Adding a Shadow Style
1. Click on the image or AutoShape that you want to add a shadow effect.
2. Click on the Shadow Style tool and choose a style.
3. You can change the color and intensity of the drop shadow by clicking on the Shadow
Settings Options (A). If you click on the drop down menu of the Shadow Color option,
you can change the color and intensity of the drop shadow. (B). The Semitransparent
Shadow option will make the shadow dark or light. (C).

Resizing Images
1. Click on the image you want to resize (you should avoid making images bigger
because you will lose quality.)
2. Click down on any corner and drag it toward the center of the image until you are
satisfied with the size.

Cropping Images
1. Click on the image you want to crop and select the crop tool.
2. You will be able to push from the sides or corners to crop out unwanted parts
of the
image by clicking down and dragging toward the center.

Word Art: People tend to use the WordArt tool for Titles
1. Select the WordArt tool and choose a style from the window that should pop up.
2. Type in the text in the WordArt Text window.
3. Choose a Font in the WordArt Text window and click OK.
4. Select the word and choose Behind Text with the Text Wrapping tool so you can move
it.
5. Use the Fill Color bucket to change the Fill options of the WordArt.
