Christmas Tale

Sergio García Gumbau 2ºE Bach

- Aaagh, Christmas, the part of the year where family and beloved ones get together
and celebrate. However, I am not that type of person. I normally eat whatever for
Christmas and stay alone in my appartment because I believe Christmas is worthless.
There is nothing new and it was all created to make people consume more during this
time of the year. I do visit my parents, but not in Christmas –even though they want
me to- because I detest it. After not having celebrated the past 15 Christmas, nothing
has happened for worse or went wrong, therefore I am continuing my “tradition”.

On Christmas Day, his mother passes away and as he is not there, he becomes rageous.

- Whyyyyyyyyy?? Why does she have to go that young?

He travels all the way home to visit his mother and attend the funeral. When he arrives home,
everything is colorful and a feeling of happiness involved the house.

- Hi Dad, I am so sorrry not to have been here when mother needed us the most.
- No problem, we knew this was going to happen sooner or later, even though you
weren’t here.
- Where is mom?
- She is in the hospital, they are doing her an autopsy to know what happened to her.
- Can I go see her?
- No you can’t, we will be able to see her at the funeral.
- Okay

As soon as he comes deeper in the house, a cooked turkey delightful smell envelops his body.

- Is anyone cooking turkey?

- Yes, I am doing it for myself and maybe you if you want some.
- Of course I do, it has to be delicious having that smell coming from it.
- I think it is almost done, wait in the living room until I serve everything.

After several minutes, the dinner was served in the dining room and his father calls him to
have dinner.

- Sam, come have dinner!

- I am coming!

When he enters the room, his dead mother is sitting in the table and he screams.

- Wtf, is she alive?

- Yes, she is.

Sam goes to hug his mother and show her his love, after he thought she was dead.

- Mum, I love you!

- I love you too son! We just wanted you to come back home to see us and so that you
realise that people are not always there and sometimes the unexpected occurs. We
have been celebrating Christmas on our own for so long and they have been the
saddest of all. We want you to show us how much you love us, son.
- Mum, I am so sorry I haven’t come here, I thought you wouldn’t matter, for me
Christmas is just another day.
- No son, Christmas is everything. Without Christmas, many wouldn’t have been
brought back together after arguments.
- I know, that was sad. I wasted 15 years of good vibes and love. I guess I will come more
often, and Christmas will be a must.
- Thank you son, I am so proud of you.
- Thanks mum, I love you!

They started having dinner and had one of the greatest times of their lives.
