EXAMPLE DEBATE TOPICS:

 Family is not as important for people today as in the past.

 The mother’s place is in the home. 

 Prenuptial agreements should be compulsory.

Against: -it could be an eternal debate topic


 If they regret it they can’t take it back
 it shows mistrust and predicts the possibility of a divorce

 Children shouldn’t get pocket money.

Against: - they could learn how to manage money


 Parents could give pocket money only if the children do something (for
example housework)
 They will be more responsible, they can become more independent

 Only children are spoilt.

 Parents are too permissive today.

 Elderly people should live together with their families.

 The best place to find a partner is the Internet.

 Friendship is the most important relationship in life.

 Living alone has more advantages than disadvantages.

 Young people are the same in every country.

 Childhood is the happiest time of a person’s life.

 Prisons should be abolished.


FOR:
 cost too much, they should do community work
 criminals only become more dangerous in prison
 after spending a lot of time in prison they can readjust to society

AGAINST:
 a criminal commits a crime
 Make people feel safer, criminals get the punishment they deserve, lot
of people would lose their jobs, 
 education, work in prison

 Nuclear power plant FOR/AGAINST
