The helpdesk user has limited access to the CLI and no set commands are allowed.
Do not use any of the following user names: admin, apache, daemon, help, nobody,
operator, pwrecovery, root, or shutdown.
User names and passwords can contain upper and lowercase alphanumeric characters and
the underscore and dash characters. User names cannot start with a - (dash) or _
(underscore).
Note for SSH admin and SSH helpdesk user names: In Unified CM 11.5 and later and
in device packages for earlier Unified CM releases that support IX 8.2.0, you cannot swap
the SSH admin username and the SSH Helpdesk username. In Unified CM 11.0 and earlier,
you can swap the SSH admin username and the SSH Helpdesk username, but you must
perform an interim username change. For example, to change the admin username from
minad to deskhelp and the helpdesk name from deskhelp to minad, perform these steps:
1. Change the admin user name to a temporary password (for example, admintemp) and
change the helpdesk name to minad.
2. Click Save, then click Apply Config.
3. Wait until the “Calls Not Possible” popup screen disappears from the Touch Device.
4. Change the admin user name to deskhelp.

Ad Hoc Conferencing
The IX system supports ad hoc conferencing, in which an existing point-to-point call is escalated into a
conference by adding more video and audio participants. The ad hoc conference does not require
scheduling the meeting beforehand using a meeting scheduler such as TelePresence Management Suite.
Ad hoc conferencing is also referred to as ad hoc escalation.
In earlier IX releases, you could only add one audio-only participant to an existing call hosted by Unified
CM). With ad hoc conferencing, you can add up to 64 video and audio participants to an existing call.
Ad hoc conferences with audio participants are hosted by Cisco TelePresence Server (TS). Ad hoc
conferences with audio participants only are hosted by Unified CM.
You configure the maximum number of participants (video endpoints) using Unified CM settings. For
more information, see the “Configuring Advanced Ad Hoc Conferencing Support” section on page 2-2.
Note The Cisco TelePresence Server (TS) capacity determines the actual number of participants you can add
to an ad hoc conference. T
On the IX system, to add a participant to an existing call, tap Add on the Touch 10 device. Enter the
number or directory entry and tap Call, and then tap Merge. As more video participants join a meeting,
the screen layout on the IX system automatically adjusts.
Basic ad hoc conferencing requires that Media Resource Group Lists are configured with TelePresence
Conductor. You must also configure TelePresence Conductor to support ad hoc conferences. For more
information, see the Cisco TelePresence Conductor with Cisco Unified Communications Manager
Deployment Guide for release XC4.0 or later.
Field Setting
Drop Ad Hoc Conference Specifies whether the ad hoc conference is dropped when the
originator of the conference leaves the conference.
• Never—The ad hoc conference does not get dropped.
• When Conference Controller Leaves—The ad hoc conference
is dropped when the originator of the conference leaves.
Maximum Ad Hoc Conference Specifies the maximum number of video endpoints that can join the
ad hoc conference. The default value is 4 and the maximum is 64.
Note Even if you set the maximum number of participants to that
the actual limit is governed by the host TelePresence Server
capacity.
Advanced Ad Hoc Conference Specifies who can add new participants to an ad hoc conference.
Enabled
• False—Only the conference originator can add a new
participant to an ad hoc conference. This is the default setting.
• True—Any ad hoc conference participant can add a new
participant to an existing ad hoc conference. This option
requires that the endpoint of the participant adding the new
participant have the Unified CM “Multipoint Mode” field set to
the Use Media Resource Group List setting.
Non-Linear Ad Conference Enables Non-Linear ad hoc conferencing linking.
Linking Enabled
Note Non-Linear and Linear Linking of ad hoc conferences is not
supported on the IX.
Minimum Video Capable Defines the number of minimum number of video-capable
Participants endpoints required to start a video ad hoc conference. The valid
range is from 1 to 3. The default value is 2.
The minimum video capable participants setting works as follows:
• If fewer video-capable endpoints are present when the ad hoc
conference begins, the conference converts to an audio-only
conference hosted by Unified CM.
• If video-capable endpoints are added to an existing audio-only
ad hoc conference, the conference remains audio-only.
To set up a Directory for the user from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration
interface:
To use Cisco TMS Phone Books for your directory, the Alternate Directory Type field in the Product
Specific Configuration Layout Area must be set to TMS. For more information, see the “Product Specific
Configuration Layout Area” section on page 1-21. For more information about configuring phone books
in Cisco TMS, see the “Creating and Managing Phone Books” section of the Cisco TelePresence
Management Suite Administrator Guide.
• Add a custom BFCP profile to the trunk between Cisco VCS to Unified CM in the Cisco Unified
Communications Manager Administration interface.
The Video Communication Server (VCS) and Unified CM must be operational before you perform these
steps.
For complete Cisco VCS configuration support and information, refer to the Cisco VCS and CUCM
Deployment Guide for your VCS software release.
To change the Zone configuration in Cisco VCS:
Note Associate this profile with every trunk and device that uses BFCP for presentations. To enable BFCP for
a device, navigate to Device > Phone, select the device, and check the “Allow Presentation Sharing using
BFCP” check box in the “Protocol-Specific Information Area” section on page 1-18.
Note There are two SDP Profile areas. Navigate to the second one at the bottom of the page.
Figure 2-1 SIP Profile Information - Allow Presentation Sharing Using BFCP
Step 4 (Optional) Configure security between the Unified CM and Cisco VCS for EX and C Series endpoints
by choosing vcs-interop-ix in the Normalization Script window, as shown in Figure 2-3.
Caution Clicking Reset disconnects any calls being made on this trunk. Perform this step during a time of low
call activity.
The following sections describe how to verify your IX and Unified CM configuration:
• Troubleshooting Your Configuration, page 3-1
• Managing Passwords, page 3-5

Managing Passwords
The following sections contain information to help you manage your passwords:
• Resetting Your Unified CM Secure Shell Password, page 3-5
• Resetting Your IX System Codec Password, page 3-6
• Related Information, page 3-9
Note You must physically be in the room to read the newly requested pass code that shows on the main display.
At each point where the pwrecovery account requires input, the program will wait up to 60 seconds. If
nothing is entered, the Cisco TelePresence System will inform you that the entry took too long and will
exit.
If you encounter any difficulty, open a case with Technical Assistance Center (TAC) via the Internet at
[Link] or contact your Cisco technical support
representative and provide the representative with the information you have gathered about the problem.
Procedure
To reset your system codec password:

Step 3 The system will ask whether you want to continue. Type Y then return to continue
This system will now prepare for password reset and prompt you for a passcode. The new passcode is
displayed on the system main display, as shown in the following example:
Password reset is now being run
Passcode: 919175
Note The passcode is a randomly generated number and will be different for each login attempt. If you enter
the wrong passcode, the system will inform you that the passcode was incorrect and will exit, as shown
in the following example. If this happens, repeat Step 1 and Step 2.
When you enter the correct passcode, the system will then reset the administration account name and
password to the system defaults. The following example shows successful password reset information:
