Nurse : “ good morning. How are you ? “

Pasient : “ i’m not too bad, thank you. “

Nurse : “ good, that’s fantastic, my name’s gretel fortmann, i’m a second year
nursing student sust doing my clinical placement here inte hospital. The
registered nurse, i’m not sure if you’ve met her yet, mary jones,she’ll be
supervising me today. “

Patient : “ i don’t think i’ve met her so far, no. No. “

Nurse : “ well, i’m sure she’llbe coming in and out today, she’s on the ward, so.
Now, is there a name you’d prefed me to call you. Or is [Link] fine ? “

Patient : “ oh, you can call me sue “

Nurse : “ oh, sue, fantastic, well i’ll do that then. Now, sue. I need to take your blood
pressure is that ok ? “

Patient : “ yes, of course. “

Nurse : “ fantastic, have you had it taken before ? “

Patient : “ yes, yes “

Nurse : “ good, so you know what to expect with the cuff then right i’ll just get this
out. How did you sleep last night. Sue ? “

Patient : “ not to badly still pretty uncom faortable. “

Nurse : “ ah, that’s a shame well, let me know if things change, and if you’d like me
to speak to mary, the registered nurse. “

Patient : “ so you’re here on practice in the hospital ? “

Nurse : “ i’m, yes, thats’t right, i’m here on my clinical plasment. With my
university. I’m troughout the year we come to the hospital. Just to practice
some of our skills that we’re learning skills such as these. How long have
you been on the word for ? “

Patient : “ oh, a couple of days now “

Nurse : “ have you had any people come to visit you yet ? “

Patient : “ yes, yes. My son and his family come to see me.”

Nurse : “ oh fantastic ! does he have a big family ? “

Patient : “ um just one child, that’s my grand daughter yes “

Nurse : “ oh lovely and does he have a nice partner ? “

Patient : “ oh she’s lovely she’s “

Nurse : “ oh, aren’t you lucky ! “

Questions or if your pain changes, then just let me know you just buze
there. “

Patient : “ thenk you. “
