What are the similarities and differences between citizen journalist and social journalist?

SIMILARITIES – both citizen journalist and social journalist publishes information


DIFFERENCES:
Social Journalist – undergone through training or professional education
- Employed by an agency of news
- they are professionals
Citizen Journalist – didn’t have training or professional education
- they use social media and other platforms to report or publish the information they
covered.

Activty 2
ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS of using social media in the following areas:
1. Relationships - They use social media as a tool of communication to talk with their loved ones even
from afar. Limitation: They might lose the intimacy of communicating in person.
2. Entertainment – Social media allows someone share their experiences to entertain others and social
media made it easier to watch videos for entertainment. Limitation: Spending more time in social media
than in the real world.
3. Learning – Students will be able to communicate through social media and they can ask and exchange
questions through it which means they will be able to learn. Limitation: Student in social media will be
open to harassment and violent stuffs.
4. Recognition – In terms of business social media can help a business to be recognized by the people
since a post can be spread throughout the world with using the social media. Limitation: Your post is
open for negative comments and might affect your business.
5. Career Progression – Looking for a job, employee and opportunities have been easier in social media
because, social media is about sharing and commenting. You will be able to see jobs that are open for
hiring and look for employees also. Limitation: Some of these posts or opportunities opened are scam,
meaning if you took the bait you will be scammed.
