@ Install the centrifuge on a horizontally
placed solid table or stand.
@ Avoid places where vibration is transmitted
from other location or an inclined place.
@® Do not install the centrifuge in places
where it may be exposed to direct sunlight
or high temperatures. Also avoid places
where the ambient temperature is extremely
high (40 °C or above) or extremely low
(10 °C or below)
@ Do not install the centrifuge in a places
with high humidity (relative humidity 85
% or above) or in dusty places,
2-12—3. Power Requirements
Se ee
Prepere a power supply that meets the following conditions.
@ The power supply voltage must be the same as that indicated on the nameplate
of the centrifuge and the voltage variation must be within the range given in
Tabie 2-1
@ The current capacity must be more than 15 amperes.
D The outlet must have a ground terminal and its ground resistance must be less
than 100 ohm.
Use single ~ phase supply
Je connecting the cord, install a knife switch or circuit breaker of 15 amperes rating.
When the centrifuge is connected to an outlet by means of a plug, use a 3- pin

3— 1. Preparation
1. When operating the centrifuge for the first time.
When the centrifuge is put into initial operation after delivery, ensure that the
reset switch is pressed without fail after the "POWER" switch is turned on.
‘The figure at below indicates the location of the reset switch. Press the reset
switch with the point of a pencil, or a similar object.

ne centrifuge has been unused for a long time.
having been unused for a long time, if the centrifuge will not start even
if the “POWER” switch is turned on, the backup battery mounted on the
centrifuge may be flat. Follow the same procedure described in article 2.
Caution: Pressing the reset switch will delete all programs which have
been stored under each key "PRG 1","PRG 2”, "PRG 3”
When the reset key is pressed, it is necessary to reenter and
save programs.3-
2. Cautions in Operation”
10.
rT
Do not open the door while the rotor is rotating.
Always operate the centrifuge at a speed below the maximum allowable speed,
The maximum allowable speed of the rotor has been determined by the strength
of the rotor, bucket, etc. Therefore, if the centrifuge is operated at a speed above
'@ maximum speed, it may cause damage to the rotor, bucket, etc. other trouble
in the centrifuge.
Always mount four buckets in position (two buckets for the RS — 96SA//6
rotor).
Always place tube racks in a bucket.
Even if only two pairs of tube racks are used, place empty tube racks in empty
buckets.
Balance the loads (sample, bucket, tube rack, cushion, etc.) before operation,
If the centrifuge is operated with the load unbalanced, the imbalance detector
is actuated and the centrifuge stops operation, Rebalance the loads.
De not force to rotate the sensitive "SPEED", and "TIME" knobs.
Do not use buckets and tube racks of a size other than specified or those of
other manufacturers,
Since they may be dislocated or damaged during operation.
if a tube in a bucket breaks, replace the cushion with a new one.
Hf the cushion is used with fragments of broken glass in it, the tube will be
liable to break.
Do not centrifuge the following :
1) Flammable ii
The centrifuge does not have the explosion ~ proof structure,
2) Bichazardous liquid
‘The centrifuge is not designed against biohazardous problems,
If the centrifuge is to be moved to another location, remove the rotor from
the motor shaft before transportation.
Do not modify the centrifuge or the rotor, nor use parts other than those
specified,3-3. Opening and Closing the door (1)

Caution: The door lock release knob will hit a stopper when it is turned
approx. 90 degrees. Do not force it any further.
The door is locked in following cases and will not open even
if the door lock release knob is turned.
1. When the rotor is running.
2. When there is a power failure or the power is turned off.
When the alarm indicator < OPEN > is lit, the centrifuge can
not be started.
Close the door firmly.3-3. Opening and Closing the door (2)
2. Opening the door during power failure
(1) Turn off the "POWER" switch.
(2) Remove the circular rubber plug located
on the left side face of the centrifuge.
ZL (3) Insert the screwdriver as shown in the
figure at left, and move the interlock
block to the other side.
(4) In that condition, turn the door lock
release knob clockwise. The door can be
opened.
Close the door by pressing on the front edge
of the door.
If the rotor does not start when the "START"
key is pressed, press the door securely and
lock it.
The door can be closed even
when there is a power failure
or the power is turned off.
Caution :3-4. Calculating Centrifugal Force
You can readily calculate the centrifugal force by assigning the Rotation Radius and
speed in the following equation
‘Speed_N_ (rpm)
Bese tae = tue x
Cexriusn force ROF (x #) sux aN
2
) X Rotation Radius (em) ~ (amu)
3-1
For the Rotation Radius, see page 5-3 and following, and refer to appropriate
Specification Table.
—5. Allowable Speed and Load
~ When the gravity of sample is 12 or higher or when using a special glass tube
'S used, check the allowable load of the bucket.
— E the load exceeds the limit, calculate the calibrated maximum speed of Expression
3-2 and set the actual speed below the calibrated maximum speed.
~ Regarding allowable load on rotors and buckets at the maximum speed, see page
SS and following, and refer to the appropriate Specification Table for rotor in use.
— The allowable load includes the weight of sample, buckets, cushions, adaptors, tubes,
eees and racks.
