Ms. G's No-Grade Policy Explained

Ms. G's 6th Grade ELA Classroom implements a no-grade policy, opting to track student progress through a Google Doc instead of traditional grades. Students will have conferences to discuss their perceived and actual progress, culminating in a reflection and a final grade discussion at the semester's end. This approach emphasizes collaboration and personal growth in learning.

GRADES
I believe in a no-grade policy.
Unfortunately, grades are mandatory,
so I had to come up with another
solution. I will not be putting grades in
the grade book throughout the
semester. Instead, I will keep track of
all of your work in a Google Doc. At the
middle and end of each semester, we
will have a conference about where you
think you are at grade wise and where I
think you are at. We will work together
to create a plan that helps you get to
where you want to be. At the end of
the first conference, you will write a
short reflection determining the steps
you will take moving forward. At the
end of the semester, we will discuss
your final grade and your
accomplishments!
