Purpose
The intended purpose for this manual is to educate application users, who possess usability
knowledge of Android bases cellular devices on how to install and utilized the Instacart delivery
application on an Android device.
Background
Instacart was founded in 2012 by a former Amazon employee by the name of Approva Mehta.
At the time Mehta practiced a role in the fulfillment shipment services for Amazon, which
prompted him to brainstorm an alternative to the strenuous shipment procedures by originating
Instacart. As delivery giant available in 5000 cities between USA/Canada and representing 350
retailers as a part of the application platform, Instacart is valued at $ 8.5 billion as of 2020.
Device Requirements
The installation devices must adhere to the following requirements:
• An Android phone with software version 6 or above
• Device permission to calendar
• Device permission to camera
• Device permission to contacts
• Device permission to location
• Device permission to microphone
NOTE: THE INTENDED PURPOSE OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS
IS SPECIFICALLY FOR ANDROID BASED CELLULAR
DEVICES AND ANY OTHER DEVICE CRITERIA MIGHT
CAUSE UNINTENDED RESULTS.

1.1 Locating Instacart Application in Play Store
The Play Store application in the default gateway
to all the applications available to use on an
android device. The depicted illustrations below
explain how to locate the Instacart application on
an android device:
1.1.1 Locating Play Store
Locate and start the Play Store application on an
android cellular device by selecting the Play Store
application icon. (Figure 1.1)

1.1.2 Using Play Store Search Box
Once the Play Store application in initialized search
for the Instacart application by typing the application
name into the search box. (Figure 1.2)

1.2 Starting Instacart Application Installation
The Instacart application should be downloaded through the Android Play Store application
platform only and the installment device must satisfy device requirements mentioned in the
introduction page under the Device Requirements section. The depicted illustrations below
explain how to install the Instacart application on an android device:
1.2.1 Starting application download
After successfully searching for the Instacart application
through the Play Store application an install tab should
appear with in the Play Store application interface.
Selecting the install tab should start the application
download and installment process. (Figure 1.3)

1.2.2 Confirming Installation
Once the Instacart application in
successfully downloaded and installed the
application logo should display amongst
other applications within the application
menu on an android device. (Figure 1.4)

2.1 Creating an Instacart Account
Account creation is a requirement in application utilization process and without it order
processing is disabled. The depicted illustrations below explain how to create an account
enabling order placement within an Instacart application on an android device:
2.1.1 Choosing an account
Starting the Instacart application after installation,
the application should prompt users to either login
to an existing Instacart account or create a new one.
To login to an existing account press the login tab
or press the get started tan to create a new account.

2.1.2 Entering account email
After choosing if either to use an
existing or starting a new account
creation, users must enter a valid
email address in the email box or
select a valid Google or Facebook
profile to login to an Instacart
account. (Figure 2.2)

2.1.3 Creating a password
New account users are required to create
an account password, which should be at
least 8 characters in length and should not
be easily guessable. By selecting the
password box new account users should be
able to enter a password and register it by
selectin the continue tab. (Figure 2.3)

2.1.4 Entering a zip code
Once a password is set the application should prompt user to enter a default zip code of the
current vicinity to set the retail establishment search criteria and display establishments available
in zip code entered. (Figure 2.5). By selecting the zip code box application users should be able
to enter a zip code and register it by selecting the continue tab. (Figure 2.4)

2.2 Searching for Products
The Instacart application provides several searching tools to ease product placement such as
search by barcode and product search box. The depicted illustrations below explain how to
search for products within an Instacart application on an android device:
2.2.1 Using application search filter
Once the default area zip code is set and a retailer is selected the application should display a
product retailer screen. Application users can search for a product(s) in several methods by either
selecting the product search box (b), which enables user to type any product by name or search
by barcode icon (e), which enables users to scan a barcode of any product via an android device
camera. The product retailer screen (a) displays available products by product group (d) or in
main product menu format by selecting the view more tab (g). The product retailer screen also
gives an option to search other store locations under the same retailer by entering a new zip code
in the retailer location area code box (c). The delivery date and time box display date and time
available for product delivery (f). (Figure 2.6)

2.3 Adding items to virtual cart
Adding items to a virtual cart in a very simple process and the Instacart application provides a
user-friendly interface to accomplish this task. The depicted illustrations below explain how to
modify products in a virtual cart within an Instacart application on an android device:
2.3.1 Modifying item(s) in virtual cart
To add products to a virtual cart simply start by selecting the add item tab (a) to bring up the add
item sub-menu (b). Note that once an item is added, a delete item tab (c) appears in the item sub-
menu and when the item count increases to more than 1 the delete item tab switches to a reduce
item tab (d). Delete and reduce item tabs essentially execute the same purpose when it pertains to
reducing an item(s) except in this case the delete tab removes and item entirely, where the reduce
tab lessens the item quantity within the virtual cart. The add item tab (e) increases the item count
in the virtual cart. (Figure 2.7)

2.4 Choosing Delivery Address
To ensure fast and hassle-free product delivery, providing a correct delivery address is critical as
a part of the application utilization process. The depicted illustrations below explain how to enter
a deliver address for product within an Instacart application on an android device:
2.4.1 Entering a delivery address
After adding appropriate items to the virtual cart start by selecting the virtual cart tab (a) to
access the personal cart screen (b). The personal cart screen displays a total count of the items
within the cart along with their total price. Once satisfied with the item count and pricing select
the checkout tab (c) to access the delivery address form(d). Make sure to complete the delivery
address from with attention to detail in mind and select the save tab (e) to register the delivery
address. (Figure 2.8)

2.5 Choosing Delivery Schedule
Instacart application provides a convenient product delivery schedule constructed specifically
with every shopper’s time adherence in perspective. The depicted illustrations below explain
how to choose a delivery schedule for product delivery within an Instacart application on an
android device:
2.5.1 Selecting a delivery date and time
A delivery scheduling screen should display after filling out the delivery address form. First
choose a satisfying delivery date and time in the date selection tab (a) then choose a satisfying
delivery time in the time selection tab (b). If necessary, add a delivery message in the delivery
message box (c), check the “Leave at my door if I am not around” box (d) if not present during
delivery and register scheduling info by selecting the continue tab (e). (Figure 2.9)

2.6 Adding Personal Information
The Instacart application takes every shoppers privacy seriously and all personal information
used for ordering purpose is encrypted and authenticated. The depicted illustrations below
explain how to choose add personal information within an Instacart application on an android
device:
2.6.1 Enter point of contact info
Once all the delivery information is entered error free and registered a personal information
screen should appear. Simply enter a valid phone number in the add number box (a) and enter a
correct name in the add full name box (c). Select the save tabs (b) (d) to save both. (Figure 3.0)

2.7 Adding Payment and Placing Order
With multiple payment methods available as a means of payment, Instacart shoppers can order as
ease knowing that major credit, debit, EBT cards, along with Google Pay are limited to and
accepted. The depicted illustrations below explain how to add a method of payment within an
Instacart application on an android device:
2.7.1 Registering method of payment and order placement
After entering all the delivery data correctly, the application should prompt user to register a
payment method via the payment method screen (a). To add Google Pay, check the Google Pay
box (b), to pay via card select the add credit card tab (c) or to add and EBT card select the EBT
card tab (d). After an appropriate payment method is registered the application should prompt
users to add tip as a discretionary measure via the add tip tab (e) along with displaying the order
total. To confirm order placement, select the place order tab (f) and upon doing so an order
process screen (g) should display momentarily prior to resorting to the Instacart home screen (h).

3.1 Placed Order Item(s) Addition and Deletion
The Instacart application makes the process of last-minute item additions or deletions hassle free
by allowing virtual cart modifications up to an hour prior to delivery. The depicted illustrations
below explain how to add and delete items to a placed order within an Instacart application on an
android device:
3.1.1 Modifying a placed order
To make item modifications in the virtual cart select the app option menu (a), then select your
orders tab (b) and the order in question should appear. To add additional items, select the add
items tab (c) then search for the item by entering the item name in the items search box (d), upon
locating the item add or delete item by utilizing the item modification sub menu (e) and if
correctly done an order update notification should appear (f). (Figure 3.2)

3.2 Placed Order Cancellation and Rescheduling
The Instacart application allows order cancellation and rescheduling 2 hours prior to any order
being delivered. Cancellation refunds are processed within 5 business days from the time of
order cancellation. The depicted illustrations below explain how cancel and reschedule order
within an Instacart application on an android device:
3.2.1 Cancelling and rescheduling a placed order
To cancel an existing order, select the app options menu (a) from the application home screen,
then select your orders tab (b) and the order to cancel should appear. Once the order screen
appears select the manage orders tab (c) to pull up the manager order sub menu and a in the sub
menu select the reschedule tab (d) to set up delivery at a different time or select the cancel order
tab (e) to cancel the entire order. If cancelling an order upon selecting the cancel order tab (e), a
cancellation reason menu should appear (f), on the reason cancellation menu check the
appropriate
box for the
reason for
cancellation
and select the
submit tab
(g). Once the
cancellation
is submitted a
cancellation
confirmation
screen (h)
should appear
confirming
details.

4.1 Instacart Main Application Options
The main application options provide details on core application settings, which effect the
application default running criteria if change manually. The depicted illustrations below explain
how to change main application settings within an Instacart application on an android device:
4.1.1 Changing main application settings
To change main application settings, from the Instacart application home screen select the app
options menu (a) and on the app options menu screen select the account settings tab (b) to access
the main application settings. The main application settings screens displays all the settings that
can be manually changed starting from (c) to edit email address(s), (d) to update contact info, (e)
to change application graphical interface, (f) to modify delivery address, (g) to modify payment
methods for products, (h) to modify retailer discount cards, (i) to enable or disable application
messaging, (j) to log out of one account and log into to a different one, (k) change application
retail criteria to other countries, and (l) to modify government assisted payment methods. (Figure
3.4)

4.2 Deleting Instacart Application
No matter what the reason may by, Instacart provides and option for application deletion for
unsatisfied users, grated the application is always available for Reinstallation via the Play Store
application. The depicted illustrations below explain how to delete the Instacart application on an
android device:
4.2.1 Removing application from an android device
To uninstall Instacart application start by locating the Instacart app logo (b) with in the Android
deice application menu (a), then select and hold the Instacart app logo (a) for a time of 5 seconds
to display the app dele menu (c). Once the app delete menu appears select the app uninstall tab to
delete application data form Android device. (Figure 3.5)

5.1 Questions About Order Placement
Q) How many orders can be placed form the Instacart application?
A. The application has no limit on orders if product delivery satisfies the scheduling criteria.
Q) Are products always available for order placement?
A. All products are a subject to availability basis, if out of stock alternatives are available.
Q) What products are restricted form order placement?
A. All restricted items have been removed form the production search database.
5.2 Questions About Order Delivery
Q) How far does Instacart deliver?
A. All deliveries are based on a 20-mile radius of the address delivery zip code.
Q) Are there any delivery restrictions?
A. Deliveries are made according to order details provided, add message to delivery notes if
pre-cautionary measures need to be taken upon delivery.
Q) Will the delivery Individual accept cash?
A. All funds in association with Instacart application are dealt on an electronic payment
basis, unfortunately cash is not accepted.
5.3 Questions About Refunds and Cancellation
Q) Can orders be cancelled anytime?
A. Order cancellation grace period is 2 hours prior to order delivery.
Q) How long does it take for refunds to process?
A. All refunds are processed form the time of cancellation up to 5 business days.
