Understanding Intermolecular Forces

The document discusses the three main types of intermolecular forces: hydrogen bonding, dipole-dipole forces, and London dispersion forces. Hydrogen bonding is the strongest intermolecular force that occurs between electronegative atoms from different molecules. Dipole-dipole forces are weaker than hydrogen bonding and exist between polar molecules. London dispersion forces are the weakest intermolecular force caused by fluctuations in electron distribution that cause instant dipoles between molecules.

Intermolecular forces are quite simple for me

Attraction exist between molecules, you see

So just be quiet, I will tell you three

Listen to me and don’t disagree

The first force is H-bonding and this is the strongest

And the explanation or explanation is also the longest

Attraction between two electronegative atoms is the name of the game,

But the two atoms belong to molecules that are not the same

Next of the forces is called the dipole-dipole

Strengths that range from 5 kJ to 20 kJ per mole

It’s weaker than h-bonding but stronger than London dispersion

In polar molecules, this force has no aversion

The last is London dispersion

Among the three, it’s the weakest version

Credits to this force electrons are in constant motion

It can also make the electrons uneven in distribution
