Operating status messages
The following messages are displayed by the LED's on the CPU.
Status LED green Meaning
RUN continuously alight Program running ("RUN" mode)
RUN blinking Program error (e.g. the operation EP is missing) or system error
as per LCD display or on terminal.
RUN extinguished "PROGRAM" operating mode
5V continuously alight Internal 5V supply present
5V extinguished Internal 5V supply missing
Status LED red
BAT alight Buffer battery of internal RAM is discharged <2.5V
(or ROM 23 /24-T is not plugged in).
If the "Warm-start" operating mode is required, the buffer
battery must be exchanged. The data retention capability is no
longer assured with a discharged battery.
Process data losses are signalled by the special marker
M 40.13 (WARMERR).
FI alight System fault, watch-dog has been triggered.
New start by power interruption or automatically by selecting
"AUTORESTART" (DIP-switch 8).
Warm-start is not possible.
Note: The special marker M 40.08 will be set to the active state for one cycle if the
cycle time is greater than 50ms.
The time-overflow for TF (TIMER FAST) and TS (TIMER SLOW) is then
erroneous. The programmed times will be lengthened.

E - 07 No valid program in the BACK-UP but there is a valid program
in the RAM
E - 08 The user-program cannot be compiled

Faults
The red FI LED on the CPU lights up for a system fault.
The controller generates no error message on the programming unit.
A reset signal is activated by the watch-dog time-out if the cycle time exceeds 100ms.
The restart behavior can be selected by means of DIP-switch 8 on the rear of the
SELECONTROL® PMC 20.
Auto-Restart active
(Switch 8 ON)
When switch 8 is set to ON, the reset signal is deactivated again after about 100ms.
When a cold-start is selected, the outputs, markers, step counters and registers are
initialized to zero.
When a warm-start is selected, the controller continues running with the process data as
it was before the reset signal was given.
Auto-Restart inactive
(Switch 8 OFF, factory setting)
The status of the controller can only be restored by interrupting the power supply.
The controller displays the system fault and the execution of the program is broken off.
When a cold-start is selected, the outputs, markers, step counters and registers are
initialized to zero.
When a warm-start is selected, the contents (before the reset signal) of all the data
registers are stored.
Short-circuit
If a short-circuit occurs, the red LED lights up continuously on the modules with
transistor outputs.
All the outputs of the corresponding module are switched off.
Once the fault has been eliminated, the power supply has to be interrupted for
5 ... 10 seconds per module.
