SYNOPSIS :
The ‘Stages of Criminal Proceedings’ in India under Criminal Procedure Code, 1973
conceptualizes comprehensive and exhaustive procedural law for conducting a criminal trial in
India, starting from filing FIR ( First Information Report ) including the manner for collection of
evidence, examination of witness, interrogation of accused, arrests, safeguards and procedure to
be adopted by Police and Courts, Bail, process of Criminal Trial, method of conviction and the
rights of the accused for a fair trial, and the evidentiary value which can be attached to such
evidence. There are many exception and special scenario like Anticipatory bail , refusing in writing FIR
and also queshing of charge sheet as instructed in CRPC. In trial proceeding in court also have to follow
specific section of CRPC for all the process like witness statement , argument of advocate and lastly
judgement of the court .

Goal:
The particular study is an attempt undertaken to analyze the following objectives:
1) To understand the criminal proceeding instituted under Crpc.
2) To understand the mechanism of controlling crime by maintaining law and order.
3) To briefly understand each step involved in criminal proceedings.
4) To understand the essentials of criminal proceedings.

METHODOLOGY:
The methodology talks about the process and method of collection facts and sources involved in
preparation of project. The followings steps were undertaken for the same purpose:

1) It involves the reference from books as well as search engine.


2) It involves the reference from bare acts i.e. CRPC and landmark judgments, articles and
research work given by law experts.
