‘Audhu BiLlahi mina sh-shaitan i rajeem

Bismillahi Rahman Ar Rahim.

Praising Allah

Innal AlHumduliLlah…

“All Praise is to Allah. We praise Him, and seek His Help and forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from our soul’s
evils and our wrong doings. He whom Allah guides, no one can misguide; and He whom He misguides, no one
can guide.

[Ibn Abbas and Ibn Mas’ud in Muslim, Abu Dawud, an-Nisai and others]

Wa ashhadu anla ilaha illaLlahi, wahdahu la sharikalahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa Rasooluh.

“I bear witness that there is no god except Allah- alone, without partners-. And I bear witness that Muhammad is
his slave and Messenger.”

Amma baad,

As Salamu Alaikum wa rahmatuLlahi wa BarakatuH, ya Ikhwan al kareem.

May the peace, blessings and Mercy of Allah be on all of you, my dear brothers.

Introduction

Narrated Mu'adh ibn Jabal:

The Prophet Upon Him Be Peace said: “The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the
ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of
Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet)
struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting
(meaning Mu'adh ibn Jabal).”

[Sunan Abi Dawud 4294; Hasan (Albani)]

I will let you ponder on that.

1
The Root Word:

Dajjāl is an adjective of Syriac origin. It is also a common Arabic word (‫ )دجال‬whose root is dajl meaning "lie" or
"deception". Al-Masīḥ ad-Dajjāl, with the definite article al- ("the"), refers to "the deceiving Messiah" or simply,
“The False Messiah”, an evil eschatological figure in Islam, comparable to the Anti-Christ in Christianity. Messiah
is an English word derived from Hebrew which means “The Anointed One”. In Greek, Messiah is translated as
“Christos” and in Arabic it is translated as, “Masih”.

So, the True Masih is Isa AS and The False Masih is Dajjal.

Why is it important to know about Masih ad Dajjal?

The Dajjal is the greatest fitna, affliction, from Adam AS until the End of Time for the Children of Adam.

What does Dajjal look like?

Physical Characteristics

- He is from the children of Adham AS.

- Prophet Muhammad SAWS used to refer to him as Al-Awar, blind in one eye.

Muhammad SAWS said:

“Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a bulging out grape.”
[Sahih Bukhari]
- Muhammad SAWS said: “Every prophet before me warned their nation about the Dajjal. But I will tell you
something about him that no one told about him before. The Dajjal is one-eyed (blind in one eye) and
Allah is not one-eyed”
- His complexion would be ruddy white in color.
- His forehead would be prominent
- His neck would be wide; and he would be short and stout.
- He would be young and powerfully built.
- His hair would be curly and in locks.
- His back would be slightly hunched
- When he walks, his feet would be set far apart
- He would also be sterile. He will have no children.
- He most resembles a person by the name of Abdul Uzza ibn Qatal, who had died in pre-Islamic Arabia.
This hadith is proof why Dajjal is not symbolic or metaphorical for the Judeo-Christian Hegemony or the
Television or The New World Order setup by the purported Illuminati or any such theory that some
propose. Rather, he is a man.

If I pose to you the question, dear brothers, ‘Which eye of Masih ad-Dajjal has a defect?’, what would you say?

I say to you both his eyes are defected.

His right eye will be like a floating grape. His left eye will also be defective and it would be bulging. 2
I will give you the reference and wording of the relevant ahadith, later on in the lecture, in sha Allah.

I pose to you another question, ‘What will be written in the Nasiyah (forelock) of Al Masih Ad-Dajjal, between his
eyes?’

I come to you with the answer from the famous hadith:

The Messenger of Allah SAWS has said, "The word 'Kafir' (disbeliever) will be written between the Dajjal's eyes.
(kaaf fe re). Only believers (even those who are illiterate) shall be able to read it; disbelievers even those who are
literate will neither see nor read it."

Narrated from Abu Hurairah (RA), Hudhaifa (RA), and Anas (RA) in Bukhari and Muslim.

Signs of emergence

The following signs will occur just before his emergence and these signs are mandatory conditions for Dajjal to
appear.

 Drying up of the Sea of Galilee [The Sea of Galilee or Lake Tiberias is a freshwater lake in modern day
Israel]
 When date-palm trees of Baisan stop bearing fruit. [Sahih Muslim; English reference: Book 41, Hadith
7028]
 The conquest of Constantinople (modern day Istanbul, Turkey) by the Islamic Caliphate. [Sunan Abi
Dawud 4294, In-book reference: Book 39, Hadith 4; Hasan]

Major Signs That Will Precede Him:

 The coming of Imaam Mahdi

In light of many Ahadith the Ulama of the Ahlus-Sunnah are of the opinion that Imaam Mahdi will come before the
Dajjal and the Dajjal will appear in the later parts of Imaam Mahdi's reign.

Abdullah bin Mas'ood(RA) reports from the Prophet(SAW), who said:

“The world will not pass away until a man from among my family, whose name will be my name, rules
over the Arabs.”

(Tirmidhi Sahih, Vol. 9, P. 74, Hadith 2230; Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 5, P. 207;
also narrated by Ali b. Abi Talib, Abu Sa'id, Umm Salma, Abu Hurayra)

Ali (RA) narrates that Rasulullah(SAW) said:

“Even if only a day remains for Qiyamah to come, yet Allah will surely send a man from my family who will
fill this world with such justice and fairness, just as it initially was filled with oppression.”

Abu Sa'id al-Khudari (RA) narrated that the Prophet(SAW) said:

“Our Mahdi will have a broad forehead and a pointed (prominent) nose. He will fill the earth with justice as
it is filled with injustice and tyranny. He will rule for seven years.” 3
(Abu Dawud, Sahih, Vol. 2, p. 208; Fusul al-muhimma, p. 275)
Umme Salamah(RA) narrates that Rasulullah(SAW) said:

“After the death of a caliph there will be some dispute between the people. At that time a citizen of
Madina will flee (from Madina) and go to Makkah. While in Makkah, certain people will approach him
between Hajrul Aswad and Maqaame Ibraheem, and forcefully pledge their allegiance to him.

Thereafter a huge army will proceed from Syria to attack him but when they will be at Baida, which is
between Makkah and Madina, they will be swallowed into the ground.

On seeing this, the Abdaals of Shaam as well as large numbers of people from Iraq will come to him and
pledge their allegiance to him. Then a person from the Quraish, whose uncle will be from the Bani Kalb
tribe will send an army to attack him, only to be overpowered, by the will of Allah. This (defeated) army
will be that of the Bani Kalb. Unfortunate indeed is he who does not receive a share from the booty of the
Kalb. This person (Imam Mahdi) will distribute the spoils of war after the battle. He will lead the people
according to the Sunnah and during his reign Islam will spread throughout the world. He will remain till
seven years (since his emergence). He will pass away and the Muslims will perform his Janazah Salaat.”

(Abu Dawood)

It is reported from Abu Hurayra (RA) that the Prophet (SAW) said:

What will be your reaction when the son of Mary (Jesus) descends and your Imam is from among
yourselves?

(Sahih Muslim, Vol. 2; Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4)

 The Great Famine

There will be a famine for three years before his appearance. In the first year of the famine the heaven will withhold
one third of its rain and the earth one third of its crops. In the second year of the famine the heaven will withhold
two thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two thirds of its crops. In the third year there will not be a single
drop of rain and not a single thing will grow and thus all the animals with hoofs and biting teeth will die and the
Tasbeeh will suffice the believers hunger. (Asma-b-Yauzeed-Mishkat)
 Dajjal's parents
His father will be tall and thin and his nose will be pointed like a beak while his mother will be fat with two long
hands. They will both remain thirty years without a child. After thirty years a one-eyed son with biting teeth and of
little benefit will be born to them whose heart will remain awake while his eyes will sleep.  (Abu-Bakara-Tirmidhi)

General signs that will precede Dajjal:

From the hadith of Umme Shareek which can be found in Muslim we could conclude the Arabs will be less in
numbers. At the same time, we can conclude from the hadith of Jabir-b-Abdullah which can be found in An-Nihaya
that religious learning will be at a low and very few people will be acquainted with religious principles and doctrines
and thus ignorance will prevail.

The Prophet SAWS said that: “Whoever hears of the Dajjal, should keep their distance from him and do not go out
to him. He SAWS also mentioned that a person who thinks himself a believer would go out to meet him and return
a kafir, a disbeliever because of the doubts Dajjal would raise in him.

4
Some Salient Points:

- Dajjal will not come until the people don’t mention him in the pulpits and they think of him or
learning about him as less important.
- Mahdi will be with us during the time of Dajjal as our Khalifah, in Jerusalem [Bayt al Maqdis].
- Dajjal will be unstoppable. Even Al-Mahdi Muhammad ibn Abdullah, will not be able to ward off
Dajjal, with his Army of Mujahideen.
- The Dajjal will live for 40 days, according to a Hadith. The First of these days will be like a year,
the second will be like a month, the third will be like a week and the rest of the days will be like
our days.
- The majority of those who go out to him would be women. To the point that a man will have to
lock his mother, sister and wife in a room, so that they do not join Ad-Dajjal.
- The Dajjal will rise from the East [Muhammad SAWS said this thrice in a hadith]. Almost
immediately he will march forth conquering along the way and 70,000 Jews from Isfahan will join
him and he will meet the Muslims between Syria and Iraq. From this information mentioned in
hadith, we can infer that the Muslims will have conquered Syria and Iraq by the time Dajjal
arrives. May Allah destroy Assad and Abadi in the hands of the Muslimeen. Ameen. Others who
will follow Dajjal are men from Iran (The Persians), The Turk Nations (Turkmen) and Bedouins,
according to a Hadith.
- Dajjal will travel the whole world but he will not be able to enter Makkah and Madinah.
Does that mean we are safe if we migrate to Makkah or Madinah before or during the reign of
Masih ad-Dajjal? No. When he arrives in Madinah, three earthquakes will shake Madinah and will
expel all the Munafiqun and Disbelievers out of Madinah.
- During his time or just preceding his arrival, there will be a severe worldwide famine.
- He will have a mountain of bread.
- He will come with something resembling Heaven and Hell to punish and reward. He will come
with a river of Fire and a Garden of delight. The believer if ever he is put to trial, then he should
jump into the river of Fire. The Hadith confirms to the believer’s heart, that if he does that, it will
feel like cool water for him and he will be considered as a martyr.

Three important Ahadith regarding Dajjal:

Anas bin Malik R.A stated that the Prophet Muhammad SAWS said:
“There will be no land which the Dajjal would not pass through or trample upon except for Makkah and Madinah,
and there would no passage out of the passages leading to them which would not be guarded by angels arranged
in rows. Then he (the Dajjal) would appear in some salty marshes adjacent to the city of Madinah and it (Madinah)
would shake violently such that every unbeliever and hypocrite would exit from it and move towards him (the
Dajjal).”
[Sahih Muslim, Hadith 1811]

It is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari with a slightly different wording as follows:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said, "There will be no town which Ad-Dajjal will not enter except Mecca and Medina, 5
and there will be no entrance (road) (of both Mecca and Medina) but the angels will be standing in rows guarding
it against him, and then Medina will shake with its inhabitants thrice (i.e. three earthquakes will take place) and
Allah will expel all the non-believers and the hypocrites from it."
[Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 1881]

Can anyone tell me what will be the economic and infrastructural condition of Yathrib (Madinah), when Dajjal will
come upon the salty marshes in its outskirts? This I ask before three earthquakes hit it, so what is the condition?
Anyone...? I already gave the answer if you listened carefully. I even told you to ponder on it.

I will give the answer:

It is from a hadith in Sunan Abi Dawud narrated by Mu'adh ibn Jabal RA where he says that Muhammad SAWS
said:
“The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the
great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of
Constantinople, when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth...”

Madinah would be in ruins even before Dajjal comes forth.

Then imagine its condition after three earthquakes hit it.

Saudi Arabia Builds Dajjal Palace On Salty Marsh of Madinah [Click Link]

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “There are angels guarding the entrances (or roads) of Medina, neither
plague nor Ad-Dajjal will be able to enter it.”

The Messenger of Allah SallAllahu alaihi wasallam once addressed the people saying: “The Day of Deliverance,
what is the Day of Deliverance!” and repeated it thrice. He was asked: “What is the Day of Deliverance?” He said:
“The Dajjal will come, climb on top of Jabal Habshi, look at Madinah, and say to his Companions: Do you see this
white palace? This is the mosque of Ahmad. Then he will approach Madinah only to find on each path an angel
with a drawn sword. He will reach the wasteland of Al-Jurf and make his encampment. Madinah will then shake
thrice and no hypocrite man or woman, nor corrupt man or woman will fail to go out to join him. This is the Day of
Deliverance!” (Ahadith about the signs of The Hour, Mustafa Al-Adawi; Graded Daeef)

6
Take a look at the line of sight between Jabal Habshi, and the mosque of the prophet, despite being 7km
apart, from on top of Jabal Habshi you can directly see the mosque of the prophet and its minarets, thus
verifying that dajjal will stand there and point towards the mosque saying, " That white palace is the palace of
Ahmad".

7
The Kingdom Palace in the salty marsh of Madina in Jabal Habshi, which the locals refer to as, ‘Dajjal Palace’:

The Prophet also described the followers of the Dajjal when he said: “The Dajjal would be followed by 70,000
Jews of Isfahan wearing Persian shawls.”

8
The following longer Hadith from Saheeh Muslim gives a more detailed account of the exploits of the Dajjal

[I request Ikhwan that you pay attention to this]:

‘An-Nawwas ibn Sam’aan reported that God’s Messenger (peace be upon him) made a mention of the Dajjal one
day in the morning. He sometimes described him to be insignificant and sometimes described (his turmoil) as very
significant and we felt as if he were in the cluster of the date-palm trees. When we went to him (to the Prophet) in
the evening and he read (the signs of fear) in our faces, he said, “‘What is the matter with you?” We said, ‘Allah’s
Messenger, you made a mention of the Dajjal in the morning (sometimes describing him) to be insignificant and
sometimes very important, until we began to think as if he were present in some (near) part of the cluster of the
date-palm trees.’ Thereupon he said, ‘I harbor fear in regard to you in so many other things besides the Dajjal. If
he comes forth while I am among you, I shall contend with him on your behalf, but if he comes forth while I am not
among you, a man must contend on his own behalf and Allah would take care of every Muslim on my behalf (and
safeguard him against his evil). He (the Dajjal) would be a young man with twisted, contracted hair, and a blind
eye. I compare him to Abdul-Uzza b. Qatal. He who among you would survive to see him should recite over him
the opening verses of Surah Al-Kahf. He would appear on the way between Syria and Iraq and would spread
mischief right and left. O servant of God! Adhere (to the path of Truth).’ We said, ‘Allah’s Messenger, how long
would he stay on the earth?’ He said, ‘For 40 days, one day like a year and one day like a month and one day like
a week and the rest of the days would be like your (normal) days.’ We said, ‘Allah’s Messenger, would one day’s
prayer suffice for the prayers of day equal to one year?’ Thereupon he said, ‘No, but you must make an estimate
of time (and then observe prayer).’ We said, ‘Allah’s Messenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth?’
Thereupon he said, ‘Like a cloud driven by the wind.

‘He would come to the people and invite them (to a wrong religion) and they would affirm their faith in him and
respond to him. He would then give a command to the sky and there would be rainfall upon the earth and it would
grow crops. Then in the evening, their pasturing animals would come to them with their humps very high and their
udders full of milk and their flanks stretched. He would then come to another people and invite them. But they
would reject him and he would go away from them and there would be drought for them and nothing would be left
with them in the form of wealth. He would then walk through the waste land and say to it, ‘Bring forth your
treasures,’ and the treasures would come out and collect (themselves) before him like the swarm of bees. He
would then call a person brimming with youth and strike him with the sword and cut him into two pieces and
(make these pieces lie at a distance which is generally) between the archer and his target. He would then call
(that young man) and he will come forward laughing with his face gleaming (with happiness) and it would at this
very time that Allah would send Christ, son of Mary, and he will descend at the white minaret in the eastern side of
Damascus wearing two garments lightly dyed with saffron and placing his hands on the wings of two Angels.
When he would lower his head, there would fall beads of perspiration from his head, and when he would raise it
up, beads like pearls would scatter from it. Every non-believer who would smell the odor of his self would die and
his breath would reach as far as he would be able to see. He would then search for him (Dajjal) until he would
catch hold of him at the gate of Ludd and would kill him. Then a people whom Allah had protected would come to
Jesus, son of Mary, and he would wipe their faces and would inform them of their ranks in Paradise and it would
be under such conditions that Allah would reveal to Jesus these words: I have brought forth from amongst My
servants such people against whom none would be able to fight; you take these people safely to Tur. And then
Allah would send Gog and Magog and they would swarm down from every slope. The first of them would pass the
lake of Tiberias and drink out of it. And when the last of them would pass, he would say: There was once water
there. Jesus and his companions would then be besieged here (at Tur, and they would be so much hard pressed)
that the head of the ox would be dearer to them than one hundred dinars and Allah's Apostle, Jesus, and his
companions would supplicate Allah, Who would send to them insects (which would attack their necks) and in the
morning, they would perish like one single person. Allah's Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then come
down to the earth and they would not find in the earth as much space as a single span which is not filled with their
putrefaction and stench. Allah's Apostle, Jesus, and his companions would then again beseech Allah, Who would
send birds whose necks would be like those of Bactrian camels and they would carry them and throw them where
God would will. Then Allah would send rain which no house of clay or (the tent of) camels' hairs would keep out 9
and it would wash away the earth until it could appear to be a mirror. Then the earth would be told to bring forth its
fruit and restore its blessing and, as a result thereof, there would grow (such a big) pomegranate that a group of
persons would be able to eat that, and seek shelter under its skin and milch cow would give so much milk that a
whole party would be able to drink it. And the milch camel would give such (a large quantity of) milk that the whole
tribe would be able to drink out of that and the milch sheep would give so much milk that the whole family would
be able to drink out of that and at that time Allah would send a pleasant wind which would soothe (people) even
under their armpits, and would take the life of every Muslim and only the wicked would survive who would commit
adultery like asses and the Last Hour would come to them.’
[Sahih Muslim 2937 a]

Is the Dajjal alive? Was he alive at the time of The Nabi SAWS and is he alive now?
And the answer is yes.

[In a low deep voice:]

The Tamim Ad Daari Hadith:

It was narrated that Faatimah bint Qays (may Allaah be pleased with her) said:
I heard the voice of the caller, the caller of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him), saying: Al-salaatu jaami’ah (prayer is about to begin), so I went out to the mosque
and I prayed with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). I was in the
women’s row that was closest to the people. When the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) had finished his prayer, he sat on the minbar and he was smiling. He said: “Let
each person stay in the place where he just prayed.” Then he said: “Do you know why I called you
together?”
They said: Allaah and His Messenger know best. He said:
He said: “By Allah, I did not call you together for an exhortation or for a warning. I have called you
together because Tameem al-Daari was a Christian and he came and swore allegiance and became
Muslim, and told me something which agrees with what I was telling you about the Dajjal. He told
me that he sailed in a ship with thirty men of Lakhm and Judhaam and they were tossed by the
waves of the sea for a month. Then they came to an island at sunset. They sat in a small rowing-
boat and landed on that island. They were met by a beast with a great deal of hair and they could
not distinguish his face from his back because he was so hairy. They said: ‘Woe to you, what are
you?’ It said: ‘I am al-Jassaasah.’ They said: ‘What is al-Jassaasah?’ It said: ‘O people, go to this
man in the monastery for he is keen to know about you.’ He (the narrator) said: When it named a
man from among us we were afraid of it lest it be a devil. Then we set off, rushing, until we came to
that monastery, where we found the hugest man we had ever seen, bound strongly in chains with
his hands tied to his neck and his legs bound from the knees to the ankles with iron shackles. We
said: ‘Woe to you, who are you?’ He said: ‘You will soon find out about me; tell me who you are.’
They said: ‘We are people from Arabia who embarked on a ship, but the sea became wild and the
waves tossed us about for one month, then they brought us to this island of yours. We took to the
rowing-boats and landed on this island. We were met by a beast with a great deal of hair and we
could not tell his front from his back because he was so hairy. We said: Woe to you, what are you?
It said: I am al-Jassaasah. We said: What is al-Jassaasah? It said: Go to this man in the monastery
for he is keen to know about you. So, we came rushing to you and we fled from it because we could
not be sure that it was not a devil.’ He (that chained person) said: ‘Tell me about the date-palm
trees of Baysaan.’ We said: ‘What do you want to know about them?’ He said: ‘I am asking you
whether these trees bear fruit.’ We said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Soon they will not bear fruit.’ He said: ‘Tell
me about the lake of Tabariyyah’ We said: ‘What do you want to know about it?’ He said: ‘Is there
water in it?’ They said: ‘There is a great deal of water in it.’ He said: ‘Soon it will dry up.’ Then he
said: ‘Tell me about the spring of Zughar (which is in the south of Syria).’ They said: ‘What do you
1
0
want to know about it?’ He said: ‘Is there water in the spring and do the people grow crops with the
water of the spring?’ We said to him: ‘Yes, there is plenty of water in it and the people grow crops
with its water.’ He said: ‘Tell me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done?’ We said: ‘He has
left Makkah and has settled in Yathrib (Madeenah).’ He said: ‘Do the Arabs fight against him?’ We
said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘How did he deal with them?’ We told him that he had prevailed over the Arabs
in his vicinity and they had shown obedience to him. He said to us: ‘Has it really happened?’ We
said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘If it is so that is better for them that they show obedience to him. Now I will
tell you about myself. I am the Dajjal and soon I will be given permission to emerge. So, I will come
out and travel in the land, and will not spare any town but I will stay for forty nights, except
Makkah and Taybah (Madeenah). They are both forbidden to me; every time I try to enter one of
them, I will be met by an angel with a sword in his hand, who will bar my way, and on every route,
there will be angels guarding it.’ She said: Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) struck the minbar with his staff and said: “This is Taybah, this is Taybah, this is
Taybah,” meaning Madeenah. “Did I net tell you this before?” The people said: Yes. [The Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:] “I liked the story of Tameem because it agrees
with what I used to tell you about him and about Makkah and Madeenah. But he is in the Syrian Sea
(Mediterranean) or the Yemeni Sea (Arabian Sea). No, rather he is in the east, he in the east, he is
in the east,” and he pointed towards the east with his hand. She said: I memorized this from the
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
Narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh (2942). It was also narrated by Al-Tirmidhi (may Allaah have
mercy on him) in al-Jaami’ al-Saheeh (2253) that: This is a saheeh ghareeb hadeeth. Ibn ‘Abd al-
Barr said in al-Istidhkaar (7/338): It is saheeh in its isnaad and transmission.

To Note:
Do you know what is the water level of Lake Tiberias in 2017?
“'The lake has fallen to its lowest level for a century.'
The level is 20 centimeters below what experts consider acceptable, the so-called 'red line,' he added.”

I wanted to make a point about Ibn Sayyad. It is a minor point. Would you like to hear it?
[Ibn ‘Umar said:

The prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬passed by Ibn Sayyad along with some of his companions. ‘Umar b. al-Khattab was
among them. He was playing with boys near the fortress of Banu Maghalah. He was near the age of puberty (i.e.
a boy). Before he was aware, the Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬gave him a pat on the back and said: Do
you testify that you are the Messenger of Allah. Ibn Sayyad then looked at him and said: I testify that you are the
Apostle of Gentiles. Ibn Sayyad then said, the prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬then asked him: What comes to you? He
replied: One who speaks the truth and one who lies come to me. The prophet (may peace upon him) said: You
are confused. The Messenger of Allah (may peace upon him) said to him: I have concealed something (in my
hand) and he concealed the verse “the day when the sky will bring forth smoke (dukhan) clearly visible”. Ibn
Sayyad said: It is smoke (dukhan). The Messenger of Allah (‫ )ﷺ‬said: Away with you, you cannot get
farther than your rank. ‘Umar said: “Messenger of Allah, permit me to cut off his head. The Messenger of Allah (
‫ )ﷺ‬said: If he is the one (the Dajjal), you will not be given power over him, and if he is not, you will not
do well in killing him.
(Sunan Abi Dawud 4329; Sahih acc’ding to Albani]

Explanation:
Muhammad SAWS had suspicion that Ibn Sayyad was the Dajjal so he tested him. But in later times Muhammad
SAWS seemed to change his opinion in favor of Tamim Ad-Daari’s explanation as to his voyage and seeing the
Dajjal as a strong man shackled in an island.]

“The Hour has not come and will not come until there is no rejoicing in the spoils of war and inheritance is not
distributed”:

The Malhama AlKubra [The Great War] is mentioned in the following Hadith:

َ َ‫»ق‬

The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said: Malhama AlKubra (The Great War), the conquest of Constantinople and the
coming forth of the Dajjal (Antichrist) will take place within a period of seven months.

[Abu Dawood 4295]

The Great War

(The author of al-Isha'ah has mentioned that this battle will take place in Imam Mahdi's time).

Imam Mahdi will have to fight many battles, the most important and difficult being the battle against the Christians in which
a large number of Muslims will be martyred.

' Yusayr bin Jabir said, "A red sandstorm erupted in the city of Kufah. Afterwards, a man came shouting and repeating the
same words, 'O Abdullah bin Mas'ud! The hour has come.' He (Yusayr) then said that he sat up after he was leaning (on his
side) and said, ''The hour will not arrive until no inheritance will be divided and no war possessions will bring about
satisfaction. ''He pointed with his hands towards Ash-Sham saying, ''An enemy will gather its forces against the followers of
Islam. ‘I said, ''Do you mean Ar-Rum? He said ''Yes. ‘Then, during this war, fierce fighting will occur. Muslim will ask for a
volunteer expedition that will vie to die or return victorious. They will fight until the night separates them. Both sides will
return to their camps not yet victorious and the expedition will perish.

Muslims will then (in the third day) ask for volunteer expedition that will vie to die or return victorious. They will fight until
the night separates them. Both sides will return to their camp not yet victorious and the expedition will perish. In the fourth
day, the rest of the Muslim forces will turn against them (the disbelievers) and Allah will defeat them (the disbelievers). They
will suffer casualties never heard of before or he said, ''Never seen before, even birds flying near them will not pass without
falling down dead.

Afterwards, sons of the same fathers (from the Muslim side), who were near a hundred, will count the survivors and will
find out only one of them survived. Therefore, what war booty will bring satisfaction and what inheritance will be divided?
While they are doing this, they will hear of an even bigger calamity; That is, a man will scream amongst them that the Dajjal
has appeared among their families which they left behind. They will discard what they have in their hands and proceed. They
will send ten Knights as an expedition force.

The Messenger of Allah   said, ''I know their names and their fathers name and the colors of their horses. They will be
the best Knights on the face of Earth, ''or (he said) ''(They) Will be amongst the best Knights on the face of Earth.''  (Muslim)

1
2
The cause of this great battle will be the Christians. The Christians and Muslims, as allies, will conquer a third enemy.
However, the Christians will act treacherously as they will claim the victory on the strength of their religion, thus the
Muslims will be driven to arms and will fight them.

Dhu Makhbar said, ''I heard the Apostle of Allah ( ) say, ''You will make a secure peace with the Byzantines, then you
will fight an enemy behind you, and you will be victorious, take a great deal of booty, and will return safe and alight in a
meadow with mounds and one of the Christians will raise the cross and say, 'The cross has prevailed'. One of the Muslims
will become angry and smash it, and the Byzantines will act treacherously and prepare for battle.''

Conquest of Constantinople

The great war between the Christians and Muslims will result in the Muslims conquering Constantinople (which is modern
day Istanbul) without army by the sheer force of Takbeer (Allahu Akbar).
Abu Hurairah reports that the Prophet   said, ''Have you heard of a town of which a part is in the sea?''
''Yes'' said they. He said: 'The last hour shall not occur till 70,000 of the children of Isaac shall attack it. When they come to
it, they (Muslims) will not fight with arms, nor throw arrows. They will only say: There is no god but Allah, Allah is the
greatest, and then on of its sides will fall down. They will recite for the second time: there is no god but Allah, Allah is the
greatest, and then another of its side will fall down. After that they will say it for the third time: there is no god but Allah and
Allah is the greatest, and then it will be opened for them and they will enter and acquire booty. While they will be dividing
the booty, a proclaimer will come to them and proclaim: 'Verily Dajjal has come out. 'Then they will leave everything and
return.'

[Muslim]

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:   Allah’s Apostle told us a long narrative about Ad-Dajjal, and among the many
things he mentioned, was his saying, “Ad-Dajjal will come and it will be forbidden for him to pass through the
entrances of Medina. He will land in some of the salty barren areas (outside) Medina; on  that day the best man or
one of the best men will come up to him and say, ‘I testify that you are the same Dajjal whose description was
given to us by Allah’s Apostle.’ Ad-Dajjal will say to the people, ‘If I kill this man and bring him back to life again,
will you doubt my claim?’ They will say, ‘No.’ Then Ad-Dajjal will kill that man and bring him back to life. That man
will say, ‘Now I know your reality better than before.’ Ad-Dajjal will say, ‘I want to kill him but I cannot.’”
(Sahih Al Bukhari)

Narrated Abu Hurayrah:

The Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬said: The Last Hour will not come before there comes forth thirty liar Dajjals, lying on
Allah and His Apostle.
[Sunan Abi Dawud 4334; Hasan according to Albani]

Protection from Dajjal:

Imam Muslim narrates in his Sahih that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah upon him) said:

“Whosoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf will be protected from the tribulation of the
Dajjal.”

[Sahih Muslim, Hadith 311]

There is also the Du’a which we say in every Salah:

“Allahumma innee ‘audhubika min adhaabal qabri wa min adhaabi Jahannam wa min fitnathil mahyaa wa mamaat
wa min sharri fitnathil Masih-i-Dajjal.”

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave and from the torment of Hellfire and from the
afflictions of life and death and from the evil of the affliction of Masih-i-Dajjal.”
“Inna asdaqal hadeethi Kitaab Allah…”
“Verily, the best speech is The Book of Allah…”

Allah says:

“Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away." (Al-
Anbiya' 21:1)

And,

"(Inevitable) cometh (to pass) the Command of Allah: seek, ye not then to hasten it.'" (Al-Nahl
16:1)

He SWT also said,

"Only those who believe not in it, wish to hasten it: those who believe hold it in awe, and know
that it is the Truth.'" (Al-Shura 42:18)

Ya Ikhwan, there is an Islamic poem I wrote regarding the fitan of the end of times, in which I made mention of Al
Masih Ad-Dajjal. Let us hear those relevant lines now, excerpted from that poem, which I named,
‘Weltanschauung’ or “World-view”:

“…Here we find in this Bête Noire Land

A Beast to come, a Beast to brand

These bestial States and it's unterland.

What shoulder could bear

- this state of Man?

"(What) saith the Lord", the God of man

- who Sprung the wolds and then, Began?

Whom shall He spring? Who shall revamp?

Essau, Lamb or Mahdi Band?

Now, the Junta need their waters, scant

But the bank and the Shackled Man

Their Pearls, and Dams they clam.

‘Pudicitia. Unitatem. Lex Dei.’, I demand.

The court is in session and the world in remand.

Rather in fustat, two, it stands.

Here we find in this Bedlam Land

Chaos spun, Chaos ran

No house is home, nowhere to land.

What grain of truth in a grain of sand?

Six degrees away from chaos, stand

Sometimes 'coup', sometimes can't

"Vide et- (who)?", "Go to the ant",

With seven and ten then make your stand.

With adl, not dhulm, will Mahdi expand.

I plead, I plead: "Thy Kingdom Come"

-and generations span.

Here we find in this Shaded Sand

Mothers weep in the 'Mother of Man'

A city sleeps as the demons sweep

But a seed is laid, a fruit to bear.

Oil and Gold may religion, spare

A mirage often eyes, impair.

Hark! A rally cry I hear

"Awake, awake, brethren band!"

The Banner flies as he raises high

A grain of truth from a grain of sand

Locks of the Knights are under Temple Mound

But the Keys of the Sand are in Furqan, sound

Hah! That very place will seal and bound

The Branded Beast and all he found

For very near that place will that day fount

-The Messiah Isa, son of man.

I tide, I tide a turn of tides

As the sun revolves to change its side

Of an all new age, of life reviv’d.

Here we find in this Strange New Land,

The Beast is dead and his councils, hanged.

Then a king he reigns a Reign of Rain

Every ruling of his, Reason bound

Every subject with her crescent and crown

Peace remains with the devils, rein'd

The Design has purpose, purpose found

"Thy Will be done", 'Thy Actions sound',

Will say this king, 'Thy Glory, abound.'

Wolves and stones converse with man,

And as per certain fitan

In the wake of his wake, a wind will breeze

The sun will near; A Fire will break

- until Man, his Judgment heeds…”

Conclusion:

I summarize what we learnt today by quoting this beautiful Hadith narrated by Abu Umamah Al-Bahili:

Abu Umamah al-Bahili said, "The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) delivered a speech to us,
most of which dealt with the Dajjal and warned us against him. He said, 'No tribulation on earth
since the creation of Adam will be worse than the tribulation of the Dajjal. Allah has never sent a
Prophet who did not warn his Ummah against the Dajjal. I am the last of the Prophets, and you are
the last Ummah. The Dajjal is emerging among you and it is inevitable. If he appears while I am
still among you, I will contend with him on behalf of every Muslim. But if he appears after I am
gone, then every person must contend with him on his own behalf. He will appear on the way
between Syria and Iraq, and will spread disaster right and left. O servants of Allah adhere to the
path of Truth. I shall describe him for you in a way that no Prophet has ever done before.

He will start by saying that he is a Prophet, but there will be no Prophet after me. Then he will say,
"I am your Lord," but you will never see your Lord until you die. The Dajjal is one-eyed, but your
Lord, glorified be He, is not one-eyed. On his forehead will be written the word Kafir, which every
Muslim, literate or illiterate, will be able to read. Among the things he will bring will be the Paradise
and Hell which he will offer; but that which he calls Hell will be Paradise, and that which he calls
Paradise will be Hell. Whoever enters his Hell, let him seek refuge with Allah and recite the opening
Ayat of Surat al-Kahf, and it will become cool and peaceful for him, as the fire became cool and
peaceful for Abraham.

He will say to a Bedouin, what do you think if I bring your father and mother back to life for you?
Will you bear witness that I am your lord? The Bedouin will say Yes, so two devils will assume the
appearance of his father and mother, and will say, "O my son, follow him for he is your lord."

He will be given power over one person, whom he will kill and cut in two with a saw. Then he will
say, 'Look at this slave of mine, now I will resurrect him, but he will still claim that he has a Lord
other than me. Allah will resurrect him, and this evil man (the Dajjal) will say to him, 'Who is your
Lord?' The man will answer, 'My Lord is Allah, and you are the enemy of Allah. You are the Dajjal.
By Allah, I have never been surer of this than I am today.'

Abu Said RA said, "The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, 'That man will have the highest
status among my Ummah in Paradise."

Abu Said RA said, "By Allah, we never thought that that man would be any other than 'Umar ibn al-
Khattab, until he passed away." 1
7
Al-Muharibi said: "Then we referred to the Hadith of Abu Rafii, which said, 'Part of his Fitnah will be
the fact that he will pass through an area whose people will deny him, and none of their livestock
will remain alive. Then he will pass through a second area whose people will believe in him; he will
order the sky to rain and the earth to bring forth crops, and their flocks will return from grazing
fatter than they have ever been, with their flanks stretched, their udders full. He will pass through
every place on earth - except Makkah and Madinah, which he will never enter, for there are angels
guarding every gate of them with unsheathed swords - until he reaches al-Zarib al-Ahmar and
camps at the edge of the salt-marsh. Madinah will be shaken by three earthquakes, after which
every Munafiq (hypocrite) will leave it, and it will be cleansed of evil, as iron is cleansed of dross.
That day will be called Yawm al-Khalas (The Day of Purification)."

Umm Sharik bint Abil-Akr said, "O Messenger of Allah, where will the Arabs be at that time?" He
said, "At that time they will be few; most of them will be in Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem), and their
Imam will be a righteous man. Whilst their Imam is going forward to lead the people in praying
Salat al-Subh (the morning prayer), Isa son of Mary AS will descend. The Imam will step back, to
let Isa AS lead the people in prayer, but Isa will place his hand between the man’s shoulders and
say, 'Go forward and lead the prayer, for the Iqamah was made for you. So, the Imam will lead the
people in prayer, and afterwards Isa (alayhe salam) will say, 'Open the gate. The gate will be
opened, and behind it will be the Dajjal and a thousand Jews, each of them bearing a sword and
shield. When the Dajjal sees Jesus, he will begin to dissolve like salt in water, and will run away.

Jesus will say, 'You will remain alive until I strike you with my sword. He will catch up with him at
the eastern gate of Ludd [Ed. Note: A city or village in Palestine; See: The City of Lodd or Ludd -
Overview] and will kill him. The Jews will be deflated with the help of Allah. There will be no place
for them to hide; they will not be able to hide behind any stone, wall, animal or tree - except the
boxthorn (al-Gharqah) - without saying, 'O Muslim servant of Allah! here is a Jew, come and kill
him!"

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, "The time of the Dajjal will be forty years; one year
like half a year, one year like a month, and one month like a week. The rest of his days will pass so
quickly that if one of you were at one of the gates of Madinah, he would not reach the other gate
before evening fell."

Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah, how will we pray in those shorter days?" He said, "Work
out the times of prayer in the same way that you do in these longer days, and then pray." The
Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, "Isa son of Mary will be a just administrator and leader
of my Ummah. He will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizyah (tax on non-Muslims).
He will not collect the Sadaqah, so he will not collect sheep and camels. Mutual enmity and hatred
will disappear. Every harmful animal will be made harmless, so that a small boy will be able to put
his hand into a snake’s mouth without being harmed, a small girl will be able to make a lion run
away from her, and a wolf will go among sheep as if he were a sheepdog. The earth will be filled
with peace as a container is filled with water. People will be in complete agreement, and only Allah
will be worshipped. Wars will cease, and the authority of Quraysh will be taken away. The earth will
be like a silver basin, and will produce fruits so abundantly that a group of people will gather to eat
a bunch of grapes or one pomegranate and will be satisfied. A bull will be worth so much money,
but a horse will be worth only a few dirhams."

Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah, why will a horse be so cheap?" He said, "Because it will
never be ridden in war." He was asked, "Why will the bull be so expensive?" He said, "Because it
will plough the earth. For three years before the Dajjal emerges, the people will suffer severe
hunger. In the first year, Allah will order the sky to withhold a third of its rain, and the earth to
withhold two-thirds of its fruits. In the third year, He will order the sky to withhold all of its rain,
and the earth to withhold all of its fruits, so that nothing green will grow. Every cloven-hoofed
creature will die except for whatever Allah wills." Someone asked, "How will the people live at that 1
8
time?" He said, "By saying La ilaha illa Allah, Allahu Akbar, Subhan Allah and Al-Hamdu-lillah. This
will be like food for them."

The Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, "The Dajjal will come forth, and one of the
Believers will go towards him. The armed men of the Dajjal will ask him, 'Where are you going? He
will say, 'I am going to this one who has come forth. They will say, 'Kill him!' Then some of them
will say to the others, 'Hasn’t your lord [ie the Dajjal] forbidden you to kill anyone without his
permission?' So, they will take him to the Dajjal, and when the Believer sees him, he will say, 'O
People, this is the Dajjal whom the Prophet (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) told us about. Then the
Dajjal will order them to seize him and wound him in the head; they will inflict blows all over, even
in his back and stomach. The Dajjal will ask him, 'Don’t you believe in me?' He will say, 'You are a
false Messiah.' The Dajjal will order that he be sawn in two from the parting of his hair to his legs;
then he will walk between the two pieces. Then he will say 'Stand! and the man will stand up. The
Dajjal will say to him, 'Don’t you believe in me?' The believer will say, 'It has only increased my
understanding that you are the Dajjal.' Then he will say, 'O people! He will not treat anyone else in
such a manner after me.' The Dajjal will seize him to slaughter him, but the space between his
neck and collar-bone will be turned into copper, and the Dajjal will not be able to do anything to
him. He will take the man by his arms and legs and throw him away; the people will believe that he
has been thrown into Hell, whereas in fact he will have been thrown into Paradise." The Prophet
(sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) said, "He will be the greatest of martyrs in the sight of Allah, the Lord
of the Worlds." (Muslim).

Something to think about in the end:

- Since Prophet Muhammad SAWS was the last and final Prophet, the Khatamun-Nabi’een, as it
were, he gave such precise information about Dajjal: his physical appearance, the signs of his
arrival, his limitations, what our reaction to him should be, how we should fight him, with whom we
should ally, where and in whose hands he will die, what actions he would do to deceive the
people, what we should do to protect ourselves from his fitna, affliction et cetera, et ceteri, that it
is almost as if we can see him with our own two eyes.

Wal Hamdu liLlahi Rabbil ‘alamin.

And All Praise Belongs to Allah, The Lord of All That Exists.
