CODEX OCCULTUS XIV - - THE FOUNDATION OF ASTRO-DIAGNOSIS

The law here under consideration is the law of microcosm which is in the function

group of the physiological key under the pentad. This law of microcosm under the five

gives the familiar zodiac. Those things which are relatively certain of prediction are indi­

cated in the microcosmic man or territorial zodiac.

The rainbow is one of the great Bible covenants. The creative hierarchies cre­

ated man in their image by establishing the archetype or the pattern towards which man

grows. Man evolves towards the divine because he is created in this pattern of the divine

but he is not divine until he has grown into the fullness of the pattern. Man, as an objec­

tive creature, however, does not come upon the horizon until the present Tellus or earth

period in which he is introduced in fourfold constitution.

The ark or ship of the pralayic flood carries and preserves the cluster of sparks

brought to a given planet in a given planetary manvantara to begin an evolutionary growth.

Noah represents the seed manu of all life brought to this planet. The covenant assures

these egos or divine sparks that they no more w i l l be overwhelmed in the great cosmic void.

Man no more will be submerged in pralaya until as an individual he may consciously return to

higher realms. The covenant is the rainbow or the zodiac which is the assurance of man's

individuality.

The basis of the covenant is in the microcosmic zodiacal man. The covenant in a

smaller cycle is reflected in rebirth or individual pralaya and manvantara. Man truly knows

the covenant of the zodiac as an individual when he has risen above individual pralaya. Man

is a prisoner to his horoscope until he achieves a state of consciousness that insures his

true reincarnation. Up to that time he is a child of fate because his personality belongs

to one life alone but when he raises his consciousness so that it is superior to rebirth then

he makes a new covenant with God.

The zodiac is typified by the rainbow because in its constitution it is made up of

two halves, the arc above and an invisible counterpart beneath the earth. The zodiac con­

sists of four points, the pot of gold at each end of the rainbow and the points overhead

and at the nadir. In the periods, states and all the various form constitutions the power

of four is seen. This power of the four taken cosmically and applied to the individual be­

comes the five. The five is the human individual monad added into a cosmic zodiacal four­

fold scheme, and is the microcosm.

The microcosm is represented by a zodiacal scheme beginning in fifth cosmic po­

sition from Leo, or at Aries. This is the microcosmic man or the familiar territorial zodiac.

God geometrizes and the whole science of horoscopy is geometry. Yet geometry

is not wholly a matter of evident circles, arcs and angles. The surface geometry of the

globe, or geography, does not appear geometrical only because of the complexity of the in­

fluences manifest upon the globe. The movement of root race and sub-race streams fol­

low well-defined whorls. The human body is geometrically constituted; from this results a

human geography in the territorial zodiac or the microcosmic zodiacal man.

Aries rules the head, Taurus the neck or throat, Gemini the arms and lungs, Can­

cer the chest or the upper body front, Leo the spine or upper body back; Virgo the abdo­

men or the lower body front, Libra the reins or the lower body back, Scorpio the loins or

base of the trunk, Sagittarius the thighs, Capricorn the knees, Aquarius the calves and an­

kles and Pisces the feet. Here is an exact division of the body into segments.

The tree is used as a symbol of humanity because the branches and the roots ex­

actly complement each other. Man is a citizen of two worlds with branches or roots in the

spiritual realms and roots or branches in the earth realms. Involution might be termed

the growth of roots and evolution the culture of branches. The ultimate constitution of

man will be that the spine becomes a curve with the head and feet meeting. Man is first a

cell conscious within himself, so that figuratively he curves inwardly for protection. Af­

terwards he first becomes straight and then bending over backwards with the spine curv­

ing to bring the vulnerable spots or organs out man expresses a conscious unity with the

great universe. Man for analysis is placed with the feet to the head and Aries is brought

in touch with Pisces. In the microcosmic or territorial zodiac manifestation begins at

Taurus and ends at Aries. The head is a parasite upon the throat. The severance of the

circle occultly is not between Pisces and Aries as literally but is between Aries and Taurus.

The zodiacal schemes always associate in cooperation two groups of signs, a group of

expressive five; Aries, Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, and Sagittarius in the Micro-cosmic

Man and a group of manifesting seven: Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, and

Scorpio in the Micro-cosmic Man.

The zoological zodiac has come down in part. Since the Sabians the signs of the

zodiac have been given their present designations. The restored zoological zodiac em­

braces mammals because the mammalian is the highest form of animal constitution and

that particular class known as the monodelphia or those animals that have only a single va­

gina and uterus and a corpus collosum.

These animals give a twelve-fold distinction of type: Aries the ram, Taurus the

panther, Gemini the terrier, Cancer the bear, Leo the lion, Virgo the hare, Libra the beaver,

Scorpio the lynx, Sagittarius the horse, Capricorn the goat, Aquarius the elephant, and Pi­

sces the boar. Of these the five-fold group are ungulate or hoofed and the seven-fold

group unguiculata or clawed animals. The five hoofed types more materialize or express in

form the experiences of their species. They have not the power of manifestation of the

clawed animals. They are more intense within and are more closely analogous to the five

solar breaths. The seven clawed animals are those which manifest outwardly things in

their nature and are more intense in activity.

Of the hoofed two signs are cardinal and two are common while the focal sign is

fixed. The two common signs are Sagittarius and Pisces or the non-deciduate horse and

bear. Self-giving is simple and primary. Man through these two common signs can take

and throw out or build into his being the essence of any experience of any nature whatso­

ever. The two cardinal signs, Aries and Capricorn, are the ruminant or cud-chewing ram

and goat. Men so typified have the ability to mull over things in their being and gain ex­
perience by imaginative repetition. The focal fixed sign of Aquarius is identified by the

elephant, a mystery among animals because gestation varies with the sex of offspring.

Depth is particularly shown in the evolved Aquarian. The fact that the female elephant is

gestated longer than the male indicates experience absorbed with discrimination. The

female is the matrix sex which holds the experience of the race.

Of the clawed animals three are fixed: Taurus, Leo and Scorpio and these all are

felidae. These fixed signs have that which peculiarly is the cat nature or self-sufficiency

which permits the greatest of human manifestation. The panther or Taurus has ferocious

self-sufficiency, the lion or Leo complacent self-sufficiency and the lynx or Scorpio subtle

self-sufficiency. Taurus preys without dignity; Leo, king of the beasts, in regal fashion;

Scorpio under cover and slyly. Of the four remaining clawed animals two are masculine

carnivore, Gemini and Cancer, the terrier and bear. Men under Gemini and Cancer, mani­

fest the terrier by the worrying of things and under Cancer in the patient courage of the

bear nature.

The two other unguiculata are rodents, the hare and beaver or Virgo and Libra.

The hare is duplicidentata or has two pairs of upper incisors while the beaver is simplici­

dentata. The rodents are gnawers. They gnaw into life; the beaver more constructively

or more simply, the hare more constantly and scattered. This zoological zodiac, revealing

the microcosmic man, dramatizes the various fundamental human traits.

Microcosmic analysis of disease is the foundation of astro-diagnosis. It is organ­

ized by the application of the numbers to the signs of the Microcosmic Man taken in the

vertical columns of their correspondence in five- and seven-fold grouping.

The monad associated with Sagittarius and Scorpio give respectively diseases of

non-retention and constipation, A l l decidual disease comes through the fixed retentive

sign Scorpio. Sagittarius diseases reveal an inability of the body to retain something it

needs. Sagittarius rules broken bones because the body comes to harm due to the insuffi­

cient quantity of lubricating ethers.

The duad associated with Capricorn and Libra gives respectively infections and

sepsis. Capricorn rules all infection and the skin through which infectious disease reveals

itself. Internal poison is a disease of Libra which rules the kidneys and normally strain

out of the system that which does not belong there.

The triad associated with Aquarius and Vigo gives respectively diseases of chill

and of fever. In all fever conditions the first necessity is to purge the intestines ruled by

Virgo. Aquarius rules the navel as the sensitive point in the all c h i l l and the ankles which

reveal susceptibility to chill. A chill frequently results in a fever because these are asso­

ciated in the triad.

The tetrad associated with Pisces and Leo gives respectively lesions and Neurosis.

The tetrad is the number of form and under Pisces occurs the rupture of form while under

the root sign Leo form in its fundamental constitution reveals its weakness through the

nerve structure. All neural disease comes under Leo, ruler of the Corpus Collosum. Pisces

rules the feet or indicators of poise.

The pentad associated with Aries and Cancer gives respectively psychosis and

dyspepsia. Aires reveals brain disease and hallucinations as ruler of the head. Cancer

rules the stomach and improper digestion.

The hexad associated with Gemini gives diseases of fatigue. When the lungs can

no longer vivify the blood, consciousness departs. The heptad associated with Taurus

gives diseases of depletion. Taurus as ruler of the throat rules the whole Microcosmic

Man or the fundamental basis of being.
