HTI Discussion
◈ Based on the human factors central to usability measure:
◈ Time to learn
UI was made intuitive to reduce the time to learn. Having a linear and minimalistic approach
would reduce the amount of things to learn and guide the user through every step of the way.
◈ Speed of performance
There could be faster ways to perform some tasks fasters, but it would compromise with the
simplicity and ease to learn of the UI.
◈ Rate of errors by users
Linear and simple design of the UI makes for a low rate of errors by users. Less functionalities
means less ways for the user to make errors.
◈ Retention over time
Linear and simple design allows easy retention of the UI’s elements. In the event the user does not
retain how the UI works, it is easy to relearn.
◈ Subjective Satisfaction
Considering the context and use of the UI, it was decided to not allow for user feedback through
the program’s UI. Any user feedback would be received through communications between the two
companies.
