Environmental Engineering Laboratory is meant for teaching and learning
purposes in fulfilling the requirement of Bachelor of Civil Engineering
programme. Open Ended Learning environment is created in ensuring
comprehensive and integrated systems that promote cognitive engagement
through student-centred activities, concrete manipulation, and guided
exploration. This laboratory also facilitated with centralized chemical storage
that placed all registered chemicals under the faculty, together with their Safety
Data Sheets (SDS) and related operating procedures or work units.

Wastewater Engineering Laboratory is equipped with spacious working area
mainly for research activities. Research apparatus such as batch reactors and
wastewater treatment models can be set up in this laboratory. This laboratory is
also facilitated with fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, and autoclaves, to enable
both macro- and micro-scale experiments involving chemical and biological
activities.

filtered drinking water that will be launched in October 2020. The guidelines is to lead the
manufacturers or importers of water filter equipment in applying for the certificates in marketing
their product. The certificate will be award by Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) after passing the
testing of media and water quality. The testing of media will be conducted in Faculty of Civil and
Built Environment (FKAAB), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). The testing will be
collaborated with the expert on materials testing from Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing
Engineering (FKMP), Faculty of Technical Engineering (FTK) and Faculty of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering (FKEE). Meanwhile, testing of water quality will be conducted at accredited laboratory
that was identified by KKM. Besides of guideline development, the consultancy work also invited as
expert matter in Filtered Drinking Water Quality Technical Committee which involve of several
government agencies and industries. Several problems related to water filtered were discussed and
advised the solution to KKM. In addition, the consultancy work also involve as speaker for training to

Project Title: MEMBINA LALUAN BARU JALAN KG RAHMAT MERENTASI ESTET SRI GADING,
BATU PAHAT, JOHOR (REKA DAN BINA)
Executive summary
Initially the Federal government has awarded the concession for the new road development of Kg
Rahmat crossing Sri Gading Estate, Batu Pahat, Johor and related works to Safwa Global Builders (M)
Sdn Bhd. Effective from January 2018 JKR has been given the responsibility to manage and operate
the proposed project. JKR has appointed Safwa Global Builders (M) Sdn Bhd as the contractor to
undertake the works related to the proposed project as stated in the tender document. The
construction of this proposed project required a monthly or quarterly basis environmental
monitoring on several environmental aspects especially water quality, air quality and noise pollution.
The monitoring of this environmental parameters perhaps could minimize the impact of this
construction on the environment. For environmental monitoring for this project was handled,
monitored and reported by UTHM, lead by Assoc Prof. Dr Mohd Adib Bin Mohammad Razi. Dr Mohd
Hairul Khamidon is also a consultant for this project.

Project Title: STUDY ON SEDIMENT TRANSPORT CAPACITY FOR INTERGRATED RIVER BASIN
MANAGEMENT (IRBM)
Executive summary
This project was started in September 2019 for 18 months for Sungai Batu Pahat, Sungai Johor
and Sungai Mersing. The objectives of the present study include the assessment of the river
morphology, hydrological and sediment transport modelling and development of river
register database. Field works on selected sites for the three rivers were made to assess the
capacity of the river to convey both water and sediment. Data collection on bed material
was made to characterize the physical characteristics of sediment responsible for sediment
transport that determines the river response in terms of erosion and deposition. A detailed
sediment transport study at six sites for each river was conducted to determine the
suitability of existing sediment transport equations for use in the selected sediment
transport models
