SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

PLANTATION FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT

Social responsibility is the ethos that informs how districts achieve their mission while
improving the community, society, and environment in which they are embedded. Responsibility
begins with each person and then extends to working with individuals, groups, community, and
the world. It connects with our concept of environmental responsibility by asking everyone to
“take care” of the world: To responsibly be sure that what we have today will be here in the
future.

Introduction:

The environment plays an important role in the existence of life on the planet earth. One of the
important aspects of living a long healthy life is to protect our environment from the harmful
gases, chemicals, and wastes that we use every day. The atmosphere is where both living and
non-living things live in. The environment has different definitions for people. While some
consider the environment to be nature, others seem to look forward to it as wilderness and
landscapes. Some people think of rural areas, forests, and greenery as the environment. The
assembly of the rural regions, urban areas, the diverse images, landscapes, all living and non-
living things, the wild, forests, and more consists of our environment. Anything surrounding us is
a part of our environment. It is the geographical area, and we often call it our surroundings.
Plants, air, water, soil, animals, birds, oceans, human beings, and every other minute creature
from our environment.

The three main factors that constantly affect our environment are the hydrologic process,
atmospheric process, and geomorphic process. The relation between nature and living beings is
known as ecology. When the environmental cycle is maintained, it is easy to live a healthy life-
supporting to nurture and care for the animals and birds. However, as humans, it is our
responsibility to keep our nature at its best. Almost every country wants to develop its economy
and to do so, biodiversity and its maintenance is very important. Governmental organizations and
various other environment protection groups conduct awareness programs every year to save and
preserve our environment. Laws are incorporated for better public response and awareness.
PLANTING A TREECAN SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT:

Planting a tree is making a lifelong investment in the environment. Today, the world is facing a
host of environmental issues, including global warming, ozone depletion, and pollution. One
solution to these problems is planting more trees.

Tree planting is recognized as one of the most engaging, environmentally friendly activities that
people can take part in to better the planet. Trees provide a multitude of benefits, both long and
short term. As well as being attractive aesthetically, they remove and store carbon from the
atmosphere, slow heavy rain and so reduce the risk of flooding, enhance air quality and improve
the urban heat island effect by reflecting sunlight and providing shade. In addition, the physical
weight of a tree consists of approximately 50% carbon; as such trees have a strong climate
change mitigation effect when in high enough numbers. Some of these benefits such as the
mitigation of the urban heat island effect and improvements to air quality are localized and will
bring the most benefits to the people who live and otherwise spend their time in the local area.
Other benefits such as the removal of carbon from the atmosphere will benefit the wider
population, not just those who live the most locally.

Trees greatly benefit the people living around them by having a positive impact on mental health
and wellbeing, reducing stress and encouraging outdoor exercise. This is in addition to the
benefits they will receive from an improved environmental quality and improved amenity which
comes with planted areas.
IMOPORTANCE OF PLANTATION FOR BETTER ENVIRONMENT

The need for plantation has become even greater these days because of the growing pollution in
the environment. There are a number of reasons why plantation is important for the environment.
Everyone knows that trees are the natural sources of Oxygen as they inhale Carbon dioxide and
exhale Oxygen and without it the survival of human beings is not possible on earth. They filter
harmful pollutants from the atmosphere and provide us with fresher and cleaner air to breath. Air
pollution can be controlled, if we plant more and more trees. They give us fruits and leaves that
serve as food for birds, animals as well as human beings; moreover we get, wood, rubber and
raw materials that are used for manufacturing miscellaneous goods such as furniture, doors and a
lot more .Trees are habitats of birds and animals. They are maintaining biodiversity and
ecological balance. If we really want to survive or lead a good life and also want to make a
comfortable globe for upcoming generations, more and more trees must be planted. No one is
focusing on plantation and not taking it seriously so the quote would really have some realistic
modifications” Imagine if trees gave off Wi-Fi signals, we would be planting so many trees and
we would probably save the plant.” ,but unfortunately they only produce Oxygen we breath. it is
said how we have grown as accustomed to technology that overlook the harmful impact it is
having on our environment. The areas that are surrounded by trees, they are having a fresher and
cleaner environment. On the other hand, industrial areas are having poor air quality due to the
growing pollution.
Environmental Benefits of Tree Plantation

We all know that trees are like the lungs of the Earth. They breathe in the carbon dioxide in the
air and exhale oxygen. Moreover, they provide habitat for birds and animals. But this is just too
basic! To understand how tree plantation is essential for the planet, let’s look at these statistics:

 Carbon dioxide (CO2) is one of the main contributing factors to the greenhouse effect. Trees
trap carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and use the carbohydrates in it for growth. In return,
they exhale oxygen which is of utmost importance for a clean environment. According to a
study, tens of thousands of crores tons of carbon is stored in the trees from the urban forests
in India. Mature trees can absorb coarsely 21 kilograms of carbon dioxide in a year. In return,
a mature tree releases oxygen which is enough to sustain two human beings.
 Tree plantation can also help us in dealing with ozone layer depletion. They stand as an
obstruction in the way of the harmful UV rays, thus protecting us from its side-effects.
 Trees reduce urban water overflow and erosion by storing water and breaking the force of
rainfalls. In America, according to a report given by the USDA, 100 mature trees can reduce
rainwater overflow up to 3, 75,000 liters! If these are the statistics in America, imagine how
much it can be helpful in case of Indian cities. If we plant more and more trees in our cities
and villages, we can save all the water that runs down the concrete road and finally goes in
vain. We can also stop a great amount of soil erosion which takes place due to lack of enough
trees.
 Tree plantation can also help in reduction of noise pollution in the crowded noisy cities and
towns. Trees absorb sound and reduce noise density. Thus, tree plantation is especially
important for areas where people live near freeways. According to a study, a group of trees
can reduce noise pollution by about 10 decibels.
 Besides this, the shade of the trees cools down the air and reduce the “Heat Island” effect.
Planting trees and other vegetation can help reduce the urban heat island effect and deal with
the constantly mounting hazard of global warming.
Tree Plantation and Energy Conservation
When you have plants around your home, you feel the coolness and airiness in the surroundings.
They can cool your home down in the hot summers, limiting the use of electricity. The Arbor
Day Foundation states that the overall effect of the shade of a healthy tree is equivalent to 10
room-size air conditioners running for 20 hours a day!
In the days of chilly winter, trees can act as windbreaks for your home. They can save you on
heating costs. A study states that a bunch of mature trees can save up to 25 percent of your
heating costs.
Not only around the homes, but if enough trees are planted in cities, the overall climate in the
cities and towns can get fresher than before.

Physical and Mental Health Benefits of Tree Plantation

Physical health benefits of plants are very popular. They help us reduce respiratory problems,
and many other health-related issues. However, have you ever noticed that you begin to feel
good when you are among trees? You begin to feel fresh, cool and nice. This shows that trees are
not only physically useful for us but also mentally essential.
There are some surprising revelations about this. According to a study conducted by the
University of Cambridge, job satisfaction of employees in offices with a view of trees was more
as compared to others.
Another example is with children who have learning disorders. Kids who suffer from Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can benefit from the presence of trees and greenery.
This is a proven therapy which shows that ADHD kids get calmer, more responsive, and better
able to concentrate when they are in a space with lots of trees.

Tree Plantation for Visual Beauty

Trees make surroundings look wonderful and fresh. Having nice lush green gardens and hills to
stroll on windy evenings gives incomparable pleasure. So, tree plantation, designing of beautiful
landscapes in the town should be a part of urban planning in India. Homeowners should also
become proactive and begin to plant beautiful trees around their bungalows and societies. A
small effort today can work wonders in the future!
OBJECTIVE OF MY SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

 Create awareness and spread the message of saving our planet and environment.

 Why plantation is important for environment.

 To create interest in children toward the environment to protect the Planet Earth.
I choose Plantation as a social responsibility. The biggest reason behind choosing this was To
create interest in children toward the environment to protect the Planet Earth. Create awareness
and spread the message of saving our planet and environment .For this program of Plantation
was organized in my garden with the children around the street. Ten Sapling neem and berries
were planted by us through this program. Children participated in this activity with full
enthusiasm Children are future of whole world they are responsible for keeping the
environmental safe. It is necessary to develop this feeling in them from an early age. With this
activity we took a step to keep the environment safe and clean. Through this activity, I created
awareness among children for planting more and more trees.
I taught Make a promise to yourself if we cut tree for our work I will plant twice as many tree it
is an opportunity for you to 'give back' something to the environment and encourage the arrival
of birds, insects and other creatures into your habitat. Working in a garden, a child can
experience the satisfaction that comes from caring for something over time, while observing the
cycle of life firsthand. Gardening is also a great way to teach environmental awareness by
exploring the workings of nature.

Trees are not important they are essential for living. They provide us oxygen, filter carbon
dioxide, prevent soil erosion, and maintain the ecological balance and many more. Also, they
provide us food, shelter and many useful things.
From this particular activity Young kids learn the value of helping others, do a nature walk and
a plantation drive. Individuals who have been given the right moral values teaching become
successful and are balanced in whatever they do and believe
Plantations of trees are important as they improve the life and fulfill essential needs of
mankind. Trees cleanse the climate by absorbing carbon dioxide from the environment and
releasing oxygen. The trees cool the environment through their leaves by absorbing the sun heat.
Thus, there occurs cooling in the atmosphere
PURPOSE OF PLANTATION
The purpose of tree plantation is to save the endangered environment and to beautify our life.
Trees are valuable gifts of nature. They are known as the best friends of human beings.
They benefit us various way tree are foremost source of production of oxygen in environment it
help to reduce the level of co2 As the whole world is facing the problem of global warming
another environmental related issue so as to recover from such problem planting the trees is
become inevitable become one of the most important aspect of today the idea behind the tree
plantation activity was to propagate the message that planting the tree help to maintain clear
eco friendly reduce the pollution and improve the green ambience. By this activity, awareness
was generate for planting more and more sampling and
Conclusion
We conclude that trees should be regularly planted to save the mankind and the animal world.
Tree plantation and its after-care is a pleasing work too. We can get much pleasure in planting
trees and in taking care of them. Children should plant trees in their school-compounds and in
the front-yards, backyards and side-yards of their schools and near their own houses and in other
places wherever possible. They should explain to their neighbors the goodness of tree-plantation
and encourage them to plant and care new trees. We should consider the fact that we all need
trees and trees are important to us humans. Save them and they will save us in return. Plant more
trees and as you plant trees you are planting life too because of the fact that they are giving us
fresh air, woods that we people used to build our houses. They stand as our shelter most specially
to the animals, a shield to heat. We should protect them because they are helping us. Sometimes
we are being rude to them, we cut them without replacements and we are the reason why they are
being fewer. Have mercy on them because they are one of the reasons why we still have fresh air
now.
IMPACT OF THIS ACTIVITY ON SOCIETY

 Enthusiasm was generated among the children to plant sapling and keep the environment
clean

 Society got inspiration for plantation many such programs should be organized to plant tree
in the society and to make the environment pure and clean.

 In the society, there was inspiration not to cut tree without reason and plant more and more

 Society learnt how important and useful are tree for environment as well as for human being

 How tree greatly contribute to our environment by providing oxygen supporting wildlife
improving air quality learnt by children

 Society has learnt that if one tree is cut then 10 new trees will be planted.

Urban forests and tree plantations offer economic benefits by lowering energy costs; trees provide shade and act as windbreaks, reducing the need for heating and cooling. For instance, the Arbor Day Foundation notes that tree shade can be equivalent to 10 room-size air conditioners running for 20 hours, contributing to energy conservation . Ecologically, they enhance biodiversity by providing habitats for various species, aid in water conservation by reducing runoff and erosion, and improve soil quality, crucial for healthy urban ecosystems .

Tree plantations mitigate urban challenges like pollution by absorbing pollutants and improving air quality. Trees take in carbon dioxide—a significant pollutant—and release oxygen, thereby cleaning the atmosphere. Moreover, they help control urban heat waves by providing shade and cooling the air through transpiration and shade which reduces the heat island effect. This cooling effect is beneficial in urban environments where concrete and asphalt tend to accumulate heat .

Tree planting contributes to climate change mitigation by absorbing carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, from the atmosphere and storing it within the tree's structure. As a mature tree can absorb approximately 21 kilograms of CO2 annually, they are vital in reducing the atmospheric concentration of CO2. Urban environmental improvement is furthered by mitigating the heat island effect through the shade trees provide, reducing ambient temperatures. Trees also improve air quality by filtering pollutants, which enhances overall environmental health in urban settings .

Tree plantations influence societal behavior by fostering environmental awareness and responsibility, especially among children and community members. Participatory tree planting activities educate individuals about the importance of nature, encourage outdoor participation, and foster community spirit. Children engaged in these activities learn the environmental benefits of trees, such as oxygen production and wildlife support, leading to a long-term appreciation for conservation efforts. Consequently, such practices can instill a proactive attitude toward cutting fewer trees, encouraging sustainable practices like planting more trees to compensate for any cut down .

Educational strategies to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantations among young people include integrating environmental science lessons with hands-on activities like planting trees and maintaining school gardens. Experiential learning programs, such as guided nature walks and interactive seminars with environmentalists, can deepen students' understanding and appreciation for biodiversity and conservation. Schools could also incorporate clubs or projects focused on sustainability, where students can participate in community clean-ups and reforestation efforts, fostering a practical and emotional connection with the environment .

Tree plantations contribute to noise pollution reduction by serving as natural sound barriers. Dense planting along highways and urban areas can absorb and deflect sound waves, reducing noise intensity. Studies indicate that a group of trees can lower noise pollution by up to 10 decibels. This noise-reducing effect is particularly beneficial in urban landscapes where ambient noise levels are high due to traffic and industrial activities .

The environmental ethics principles associated with tree plantation as a social responsibility include stewardship, sustainability, and intergenerational equity. Stewardship emphasizes our duty to care for the planet, implying active management and protection of natural resources. Sustainability involves managing tree resources so they meet the present needs without compromising future generations' ability to meet theirs. Intergenerational equity stresses the importance of conserving biodiversity and ecological health to ensure the wellbeing of future generations. These principles guide ethical tree planting and environmental conservation initiatives .

Legislation and governmental policies play a crucial role in promoting tree plantation by establishing legal frameworks and incentives that encourage environmental stewardship. Policies often include mandates for urban green spaces, subsidies or tax breaks for tree planting efforts, and public awareness campaigns highlighting ecological benefits. Such measures can compel municipalities and individuals to prioritize tree plantation, ensuring sustained environmental conservation efforts. Laws also typically enforce penalties for illegal deforestation, promoting the importance of maintaining green cover .

Community-engaged tree planting activities positively impact local ecosystems by enhancing biodiversity, reducing air pollution, and stabilizing soil, which benefits the ecological balance. Such initiatives also foster social cohesion by bringing people together with a shared goal, enhancing community interaction, and building a collective environmental consciousness. Participants, including children, learn practical conservation skills and develop a sense of ownership and pride in their local environment, contributing to stronger community bonds and advocacy for sustainable practices .

Trees play a critical role in supporting mental health and well-being by providing serene environments that reduce stress and encourage relaxation. They offer aesthetic greenery, which calms the mind and promotes physical activity like walking. Viewpoints of trees enhance job satisfaction as shown in studies, and exposure to green spaces has therapeutic effects for conditions such as ADHD, calming and improving concentration in affected individuals. These mental health benefits are significantly observed in urban environments where green space is limited .
