Task 2: Writing Assignment - Production

The document is a letter from Keryn Margarita Florez Niebles to António Guterres, the United Nations Secretary-General. In the letter, Florez Niebles expresses concerns about the negative environmental impacts of modern technology and calls on Guterres to address governments to take urgent measures to reduce environmental degradation, such as requiring companies to use more eco-friendly technologies. The letter notes that while technology has benefits, it has also tortured the planet, caused pollution, and endangered many animal species and their habitats. Unless action is taken, both human and environmental conditions may seriously worsen.

Stage 1

I want to open with you a debate about modern technology and its implications for the

environment, I think technology has taken the world, today we can enjoy the technological

advances that science has brought, which bring great benefits and advantages to humanity, but

have also brought negative consequences for the environment. The planet has been tortured in

the technological development of man, the environment has suffered major disasters due to the

irresponsible use of new technologies, According to statistics, many animal species are now in

the process of extinction, others have completely disappeared, their habitats have been

destroyed and climate changes are not long in coming. Among the negative effects that the

earth has suffered we can mention the oil spills in the sea, one of the biggest causes of

environmental pollution, aerosols, cell towers, the radiation that these emit is very strong for the

environment, which every day is more affected.

Stage 2

Despite the great technological advances that humanity has achieved with the help of natural

resources (several of them are already in danger of being depleted) I believe that, by continuing

in this way, both human life and fauna and flora are running the same risk of enter a much more

serious state, because, if a product that supposedly benefits humanity, also helps pollution of

the environment, such as aerosols, which by their composition damages the ozone layer and

thus, significantly worsens the global warming, the cost to pay for this benefit is very

detrimental. It would not make sense to advance technologically if there is a possibility that it will

be something that at some point there will be no one to make use of it.

Stage 3

I recommend that the government should make companies start using eco-friendly technology

with the environment because conventional technology affects our environment a lot.

Dear Mr. Guterres

Actually our planet is going through a serious crisis on the history caused by climate change, I
want to open with you a debate about modern technology and its implications for the
environment, I think technology has taken the world, today we can enjoy the technological
advances that science has brought, which bring great benefits and advantages to humanity, but
have also brought negative consequences for the environment.

I would suggest you to address the governments all over the world to take urgent measures against
environmental degradations should make companies start using eco-friendly technology with the
environment because conventional technology affects our environment a lot.
Please take on mind that planet earth is our home and we are obligate to protect it.
Sincerely
