Concrete Corrosion Inhibitor Guide

This technical document provides information on the calcium nitrite corrosion inhibiting admixture called Conplast CN. It discusses the product's uses, advantages, description, properties, instructions for use, and safety precautions. Conplast CN is based on calcium nitrite and is used to inhibit corrosion in concrete where this chemical is specified. It has a typical dosage range of 7.5 to 22.5 liters per cubic meter of concrete. Proper curing and a low water-cement ratio are important to achieve optimum corrosion protection when using this admixture.

THE PROJECT
Jizan Terminal Dredging Backfill Project in Saudi Arabia is an important terminal dredging project
the Government of Saudi Arabia build to for the construction of Jizan Economic City, especially the
construction of large industrial districts, such as Saudi Aramco Refinery. It is also the first large-
scale dredging hydraulic project since Saudi Aramco took over the management of Jizan Economic
City. The project site is about 100km away from Jizan City and it is a port infrastructure project of
Jizan Economic City. This project will include basin and channel dredging, land area reclamation by
pumping filling, breakwater and revetment construction and a heavy-piece terminal and its
subsidiary. The project is still on progress by China Harbor Engineering Arabia Co. ‘CHEC’.

THE SOLUTION
Fosroc team joined the contractor from the first stage of the project & made all trials to achieve
the requirements of the concrete. The client achieved the high quality results starting from the first
stage with more than 0.75% million liters of Fosroc admixtures, Conplast SP500, 440M & CN. To get
the highest quality of the 1500 concrete blocks, a release agent (NITOCOTE FORMCOTE), a curing
compound (CONCURE 90 & CONCURE AB) & a final cote with silane-siloxane material (NITOCOTE
SN502) have been used due to Fosroc team recommendation. Fosroc team kept following up the
contractor to support him & make sure that products’ applying is going properly.

THE BENEFITS
Some of the advantages of FOSROC Constructive Solutions were as follows;

- The client was very satisfied according to FOSROC team’s support & the clearance of
Application Instructions.
- The client benefitted from being able to contract with a single party for the various types
of construction solutions.
- Contractors needed an economical & high quality solution that could be applied rapidly.
Again, FOSROC was able to meet this need.
