Here’s what we want you to do.
Read the sample sales letter on the
following pages. It’s a very hot promo for Schweiz Health, and it’s
written by Master Copywriter Carline Anglade-Cole. This promo is mailing
at about 500,000-600,000 pieces a month. It has good proof elements
(hint: including a football star testimonial), a simple promise and delivery,
and it touches on the skepticism of the marketplace!
So read the entire letter once and then read it through again. Slowly.
Then go back, highlight, and label the following elements:
The Promise
The Picture
The Proof
The USP (Unique Selling Proposition)
The Offer
This is a real sales letter, so the elements aren’t going to be exaggerated
like they are in our peanut diet illustration. Once again, we’ve given you the
answers on a second copy of the same letter so you can check your work.
Throughout the program, we’ll discuss all of these elements in greater
detail and I encourage you to save this exercise and revisit it then.
