Earth Subsystems and Their Interactions

The document summarizes the key interactions between the four main subsystems that make Earth's environment: the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere. The atmosphere provides breathable air and protects the Earth from asteroids. It also allows for the biosphere to thrive by providing oxygen. The biosphere in turn helps maintain the quality of the other subsystems by protecting water sources and limiting pollution. The hydrosphere supplies water and drives water movement through evaporation. It can also cause erosion through runoff. The geosphere provides soil and is dynamically affected by the other systems through processes like the water cycle.

is caused and when this happens in a place
where an element of the hydrosphere is
located, it is polluted.

The Geosphere provides the soil that gives life.
While seemingly static, the geosphere is in fact a
very active player in the earth's systems, affecting

precipitation.
