Makeup Sponges
• Used to apply makeup in
broad strokes and blend
out lines
Stipple Sponge
• Used to apply makeup in
flecks or sporadic patterns to
create bruises or scrapes
Makeup Brushes
• Used to apply
makeup in more
detailed and
controlled strokes;
most effective
with smaller areas
and fine lines and
wrinkles
Powder Brush
• Used to apply
rouge (blush)
or translucent
powder
Translucent Face Powder
& Puff
• Used when sealing
your makeup
design to prevent
smudging
• Powder is evenly
disbursed on the
puff and then
gently patted on
the face
Eyebrow Brush
• Used to brush and
comb the eyebrow into
shape when “blocking”
them; used to brush
snow white hair color
into hair, facial hair or
eyebrows
Eyebrow Pencils
• Used to fill in the
eyebrow with color or
outline the areas of a
makeup design
Lip Pencils
• Used to outline and
perhaps fill in the lip
with color
Foundation Cakes
• These are the
most basic
components of

layer to neutralize

Contour Wheel

colors (Black,

Bruise & Abrasion Wheel

different crème
colors (Violet, Brown,

Goldenrod)
• Used with the stipple
sponge to create
bruises and scrapes
Snow White Hair Color
• Brushed into hair to
give the illusion of
greying or stark white
hair
Dark Blood
• Applied with the
spatula end of the
eyebrow brush or a
makeup brush
• Creates the illusion of
a bleeding, open
wound on the verge
of congealing
Liquid Latex
• Creates a second skin
over the actor’s skin or
the surface of an
appliance
• Used in burn effects
• Easy to bubble tear and
layer
Nose & Scar Wax
• Sculptural material
that can be shaped by
hand
• Used to create 3-D
appliances for creature
and gore designs
• Use with spirit gum or
another adhesive of
your choice
Spirit Gum & Remover
• Adhesive used to
attach appliances to
the actor’s face
• Remove with Spirit
Gum Remover
