THINK IT OVER

1. What is the importance of the following icons representing the agents of socialization to
your development as a person?
1. SCHOOL
 The school where we learn a lot of things, where we try new things. School is the
foundation of the hidden knowledge that we have right now. It is the most
mandatory of all the things that we do since education is very important to people.
By going to school, we are expecting to socialize and to interact with our
classmate and teacher as a sign of communicating and socializing.

2. FAMILY
 Family is the first person that we have our communication, here it all first started.
Talking to your parents, siblings and relatives is what we all do. Family has a big
role in improving and developing our skills in communicating with others. Family
taught us to how we behave and how to communicate properly.

3. COMMUNITY
 Community has a role on its own. This is where we improve a lot better our social
skills since we can encounter different types of people, attitude and what kind of
perspective they have.

4. GOVERNMENT

regulation that they made. We can improve our self by setting a limitation to our

same likes and such. Doing the same mannerism, just lie how they want
something to be made.

important part in the development of a person? Why?

gave us the chance to have a proper communication. This is where we have our
first step in communicating and socializing.

3. How can you differentiate socialization from enculturation? Explain and give your
examples.
 The Enculturation means learning and hugging with wide arms the society and
belief that is very different to you. Enculturation helps us to know what kind of
tradition they have and to make sure that we learn it smoothly so we don’t be
offensive or rude to their own culture. Socialization on the other hand understands
the belief and the tradition of one society have. The respect that you will give to
them.

respected way.

E. Engagement
Direction: Based on the previous activity, answer the following question.

1. Examine the pictures on the previous page. What is the importance of each non-state
institution to our country?
Answer this question by completing the unfinished statements below.

a. Banks allow us to keep our money safe and also to let us loan some money to them.
Banks helps our country by providing the financial assistance to the corporate world and
also the entrepreneurs for us to have high or massive amount of taxes to provide for our
community or country.

b. Corporation gives us the chance to grow our profit in many ways. Corporation also
helps us to have our own since it is a separate legal identity. Corporation are the norm in
our society. They have the significant role in our lives, yet their purpose for many, is only to
generate profit.

c. Trade unions help workers to have a higher salary. Trade union raises wages of
unionized workers by roughly 20% and raise compensation of the workers, including both
wages and benefits by about a total of 28%. Trade union has a substantial impact on the
compensation and work lives of both unionized and non-unionized workers. These also
represent the current data on union’s effect.

d. Cooperatives can make cheaper goods and services for us to save a lot of money.
Cooperative is businesses in which belong to the people who use them. Cooperative are
successful because they have provided valuable services and save consumers money.

e. Development agencies transform our economy. It helps our government by giving them
or letting them loan to their ‘bank’ for the country to improve and have infrastructures. They
also promote us and also the country by engaging in some project and to be sure that you
will go to be part of it.
f. Civil Organization can be useful in terms of public figure of all the people; it can be
celebrities, politician, businessman and such. II helps us to have knowledge to know what
kind of person is he/she by providing “facts” and ‘legit” source.

g. Transitional advocacy groups raise awareness about our Human Rights and
Greenpeace. This group influences the government to take action so the problem can be
solved or to be known somehow because it is commonly neglected. We’re not aware
anymore about these Human Rights that every individual have, the respect that everyone
should feel and have.

2. Are these non-state institutions connected to the government? if yes, how? If no, why
not?
 They are not connected to the Government. This refers to the organizations and
groups that function independently of any state or government. They are known as
‘stateless’ because they are believed to be independent of any state, despite the
fact that they frequently interact with the government on project implementation.

3. What are the functions of the government in relation to its people?

 Citizens’ daily behavior is governed b the governments, which safeguard them from
outside intrusion and often provide for their well-being and enjoyment. Some
economists and thinkers in the last few centuries have called for government
control over some parts of the economy.

4. How do non-state institutions help the government in performing its function?

 Providing products and services – the government cannot meet all of a citizen’s or
group’s needs and desires. The majority of goods and services are provided by
private persons or businesses.
 Paying taxes to the government – money is essential for the functioning of the
many branches of government. Taxation is regarded as the government’s lifeblood.

5. What do you think will happen if we do not have non-state institution?

 They are a type of institution that assists in the economic and social development of
a country. It considers how state and non-state institutions might assist individuals in
coping with and reducing their many fears in times of state fragility.

A. Assimilation
Direction: After learning about non-state institutions and their contributions to an
individual’s development and community in general, write something about yourself and
your community by completing the phrases below.

What are the duties and responsibilities of the state to its people?
 States have a legal obligation to protect and promote human rights, including the
right to social security, and to ensure that people can exercise their rights without
discrimination. Each state also has a responsibility to ensure that the conditions on
its territory do not jeopardize international peace and order.
Because of non-state institutions, I am able to participate in non-governmental
organization. The participation of non-governmental organization (NGOs) is critical for
successful human rights protection at both the national and international levels; NGOs
enhance public awareness of human rights issues and draw attention to those who are
guilt. State institutions are the key enablers of social and economic development in a
country’s economy. These institutions, according to study, can be a major source of
growth through assisting investment in physical and human resources, research and
development, and technology.

Because of non-state institutions, my community is now protected of human rights.

In general, the developed services those members of society require in order to advance.
