PART 1:
Let’s talk about health
1. Is it important to you to eat healthy food? [Why?/Why not?]
Answer: Yes, it is absolutely important that we eat healthy because “health is
wealth”. Eating nutritious and healthy food, together with enough physical activities,
can help us reach and maintain an optimum weight while also reducing the risks of
developing life-threatening diseases like cancer and heart disease. I eat healthy food
to lead a healthy life.
2. Do you pay attention to public information about health? [Why?/Why
not?]
Answer: No, I don’t really pay much attention to public health information because
most of the times, they provide very basic information, which I already know about
either by visiting a medical doctor or by reading some health journals. Besides,
public health information usually shows up or broadcast irregularly, so it is not
always easy to follow them, especially when I am busy.
3. What could you do to have a healthier lifestyle?
Answer: One needs to do several things in order to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
First of all, of course, I would eat healthy food on a regular basis as well as in proper
quantity. Besides, I could also have more sleep and rest and drink plenty of pure
drinking water each day. I would also like to reduce the stress level a little in order
to have sound mental health. Finally, I would also like to have extra physical
activities to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
Let’s talk about physical exercise
1. Do you often physical exercise?
I used to be a couch potato, but then I gain a lot of weight, making me unable to put
on any of my favorite clothes. And this had pushed me to hit the gym every day to lose
the pounds. I has stuck with it for about few months now and the result is so
amazing! I can be confident with my body again now.
2. How do you exercise?
When going to the gym, the very first step that I need to take is to do some warm
up by stretching, bending over and doing jumping jack. After this stage, I will work
out very intensely with some exercises like deadlift or squat, which can put my
muscles in pain for the first few days.
3. Do you have any plans for exercise in the future?
PART 2:
Well, I didn’t really have a healthy habit until recently when I start to cook myself a healthy diet. I
believe this activity can benefit both my mental and physical health. I usually try to cook as often as
possible for all of my meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner. What I mean by healthy diet is a
meal with a variety of foods that give me the required nutrients I need to feel good, to have energy
and to be healthy. These nutrients include protein, carbohydrates, fat, water, vitamins, and minerals. I
used to only hit the gym and did not care about what I eat. Consequently, there wasn’t any progress
and I could not get fit. I try my best to make healthy meals as often as possible. You can buy healthy
meals here in Saigon but they are very expensive. That’s why I usually cook for 2-3 days, so 6-7
meals per time. It saves me a lot of time and a lot of money. However, I get fed up with it sometimes.
The reason why I enjoy eating healthy is that when combined with being physically active and
maintaining a healthy weight, eating well is an excellent way to help my body stay strong and
healthy. In addition, seeing myself looking fit and healthy makes me happy which is good for my
mental health too.
PART 1
1. Do you like to cook? Why / why not?
Sometimes. I like preparing a special meal for family or friends who visit, but everyday
cooking is a bit boring; it's something that has to be done, but it's not really fun.
Or
yes, i do like cooking. Although I do not necessarily cook every day, and when I do I enjoy it.
The main reason is that I know my family and I would have to bear the consequences. So if the
meal is delicious then of course everyone will enjoy the taste and I like that, otherwise I myself
feel very disappointed.
2. Do you think that it's important to know how to cook well?
I'm not sure whether it's important to cook well, but I do think that everyone should know
the basics. It definitely isn't healthy to rely on pre-prepared meals or fast food.
PART 1
LET’S TALK ABOUT COOKING
Do you like to cook? / Can you cook?
Sample answer
Well, I am not interested in cooking since I'm not really good at it. Honestly, I have
problems with tasting. I don't know how to season the food adequately for better flavour.
So, the dishes I cook are usually either salty or bland. That's why I can't and don't like
cooking.
Do you think that it’s important to know how to cook well?
Sample answer
I think it’s a really important life skill that everyone should learn when they are young.
Being able to cook allows you to live a healthy life without relying on ready-made or junk
food. It doesn't have to be complicated dishes, knowing to cook the basic ones is
enough.
Who does the cooking in your family?
Sample answer
Needless to say, my mother is the one who does most of the cooking in my home. She
is the best cook ever since she knows the taste of each family member and makes the
tasty meals.
LET’S TALK ABOUT FOOD
What is your main meal in the day?
Sample answer
I can say lunch is my largest meal in a day. I usually skip breakfast because I get up
late and in a hurry to go to work. I work 10 hours a day so I normally go home after 9:00
pm and feel very tired, therefore I just have light dinner.
2. Do you prefer home-cooked food or food from restaurants?
Answer 1: I prefer dining at home to dining out because it is more economical than order food at
restaurants. Also, home-cooked food is healthier and more appetizing because it is to my taste.
Or
I prefer home-cooked food because I think it's healthier and you know exactly
what you're eating. I also enjoy cooking for family and friends.
What is your favourite cuisine?
In addition to Vietnamese food, I find nothing better than American dishes. My ideal 3-course
meal in American cuisine would include pumpkin soup as a starter, grilled tenderloin steak
with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce as a perfect main dish, and apple pie as a dessert.
ANIMAL
1. Do you like animals?
To be honest, I only like friendly animals such as dogs, cats and birds. I
consider them human’s friends and keeping them as pets will help me
release my negative emotions.
2. 2. Just like other countries in the world, we tend to keep dogs and cats as companions. This is
because these animals are tame and easy to live with humans.
3. To be honest, I have to say “no’” because I always feel sorry for animals that are kept in cages.
Although they are well looked after and are provided with food, they don’t have the freedom like
living in their natural habitat.
1. My hometown is a small city. It is both traditional and modern because of having
several festivals celebrated by the locals, and at the same time The increasing number
of infrastructures and establishments makes it start to be developed.
2. What is the most famous place in your hometown? ⇒ “Well, to be honest, there isn’t much in
Ha Tinh which is famous like HCM but Ky anh beach is a great tourist attraction where most
people want to go when they come to Ha Tinh. As well as that, Ho Chi Minh square and
hometown are other places that cannot be missed in that list because, you know, for what I
forgot to mention, Ha Tinh is also the hometown of HochiMinh- the ever greatest president of
our people.”
Today I’d like to tell you about a pressing environmental issue in my
country Vietnam. It’s air pollution, especially in big cities where there are
large volumes of vehicles. This issue is getting more serious in recent
years and has become one of the top priorities of the Vietnamese
government. In the case of air pollution in Vietnam, the government has
declared state of alert. Thick fog over the past few months turned out to
be polluted air. The consequence is very alarming: the number
of respiratory cases has rocketed; a growing number of elderly people is
complaining of the worse air they breathe in everyday. Air pollution can
cause long-term effects on humans’ nerves, brain, kidneys, liver and other
organs. Other health issues such as heart disease and lung cancer would
be worrying. In my opinion, there are two steps that can be taken
to alleviate this problem. Firstly, public transport and eco-friendly vehicles
should be encouraged, and prices of motorcycles should be raised to
discourage citizens from using them regularly. By doing that, the amount of
smoke coming from vehicles would be greatly reduced. Secondly, citizens
should be provided with guidelines on caring for health, particularly wearing
masks on a daily basis, rinsing noses and gargle with salt water after
being exposed to exhaust emitted from vehicles’fumes.
