Interview Questions

q1. Tell me about yourself?

- concentrate on work related skills
- use power words eg flexible, commited, honest, hardworking

I am a second-year Actuarial science student from Montego Bay.

I'd describe myself as being goal-oriented, honest and determined.
This year i'm aiming to join a committee and this is my first opportunity.
In my 2 years in sixth form, I served as the Math clubs Public relations officer.
That was a bit outside my comfort zone as I'm a bit introverted so i had to adapt.
In that time ive become more bold, a bit more sociable, flexible and more of a team
player.
The following year, i worked as a transfer agent at call center.
The job included a lot of calls in rapid succession and so I learnt to improve my
listenining skills and my negotiation skills because a lot of the time i had to
convince persons tostay on the line to get transfered
to the correct representative
Last year, i was a class representative but i must admit there was not much to do
but i still
appreciated the experience. I also enjoyed a year as a member of the actuarial
society
and I was a participant in the first-year experience program which was an attempt
to try something
outside my comfort zone.
With all that said, I think i have the qualities to serve as the second year
representative

q2. why are you applying?

well firstly, ive set a goal to join a committe this year and this is very good
opportunity
for me to do so.
Id like to help maintain or improve the learning environment of the second year
math students
and finally, I need to break the habit of letting opportunities like this pass

q3. what are your strengths?

I am flexible and a team player. Im willing to help out where i can and contribute
to the
well being of the team
I am motivated and dedicated and i always aim to produce the best results
and i am eager to learn and improve my skills and so i am open to constructive
criticism and
advice

q4. what are your weaknesses

I am a bit too timid when it comes to jumping at opportunities. Im trying to change
that this
year and i've made it a goal to join atleast 1 committee and this opportunity is my
first
step towards that goal

q7. can you give an example of when you have

worked well under pressure?

have you ever been a year representative? How was the experience? Any challenges or
advice you could share?
what would the committee be doing between now and the start of the school year?
