CASE STUDY

According to the anger issue definition, Anger is a natural, instinctive response to

threats. Some anger is necessary for our survival. It becomes a problem when you have trouble

controlling it, causing you to say or do things you regret. Based on the study uncontrolled anger

is bad for your physical and emotional health. It can also quickly escalate to verbal or physical

violence, harming you and those around you. I think this is what happened to my classmate due

to her anger and jealousy she tends to say hurtful words to me. I also observed that

uncontrollable anger came from envy or jealousy. It is a defense mechanism of the person to

hide the feeling of jealousy. Because of this attitude the persons pride will escalate, and the

result is anger, bullying and other physical, emotional, and mental abuse. Because he/she

thinks I am a big threat to his/her to become a top of our class. The main problem here is

he/she is out of control, for his/her to do or say mean things pertaining to my studies and

grades even though he/she is my friend. His/Her words are out of context and below the belt.

Another problem is lack of communication and understanding. If this problem was not properly

addressed. This may lead to a complex situation that may ruined our friendship.

Communication is very important to understand and prevent issues, complication, and

troubles. Also, for us to interact and connect to others. To have an effective conversation with

her, I will use the elements of effective compassionate communication. These elements are
very efficient especially to those who are having difficulties in engaging a conversation. First

know your intentions to the problems and issues to be resolve. Second, I will observe and

analyze if she is ready to tackle the issue. Third, I assume and hope that my classmates mind is

open and ready to accept and listen to the words that I wanted to convey. Fourth, acknowledge

her feelings and emotion before I start a simple and light conversation, to avoid

miscommunication and misunderstanding. And to produce a fruitful talk with her, free from

yelling and cursing with each other.

Following these steps will help improve my communication skills and develop my

knowledge towards receiving, interacting, and lessening to other people. As the saying goes a

good relationship starts with good communication.
