The Benefits of a Healthy Lifestyle

How do people live longer and stronger? In the last decade, the word wellness is

everywhere. People are talking about how to be in shape and healthy. If you notice, we

are invaded with social media advertising about a healthy lifestyle. For example, gyms,

diets, and more similar products are on television, Instagram, etc. Unfortunately, to have

a healthy lifestyle people need a lot of commitment and discipline to achieve their goal

of living well. Physical activity, a healthy diet, and social-psychological are the important

benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.

To start with, let’s talk about the changes that a person needs to do to have good

health. Physical activity has been recommended for health professionals forever.

However, we know that this is not an easy routine, but it will be the beginning of many

changes. For example, to transform ourselves we can enjoy practicing exercise for 30

minutes daily. Also, this activity can be moderate or rigorous, which is dependent on

personal goals, age, and gender. Each person is unique, so the exercises that work for

a 35-year-old woman are not the same for a 65-year-old woman and vice versa.

Consequently, people that do frequent physical activity acquire a normal weight and

body fat composition. At the same time, much research has shown that a regular routine

of exercises lows the risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and other major illness.

Overall, a person who maintains a physical activity routine on average will live more

active and healthier than a sedentary person. Thus, people can obtain many benefits

from keeping a healthy lifestyle.


When we talk about a healthy life, another important change we need to do is

maintaining a well-balanced diet. Personally speaking, a healthy meal plan takes 75

percent of the improvement in your life. The body needs good nutrients besides fat food

meals to function properly. On the daily basis, you need to replace simple

carbohydrates (cake, sugar, white bread) with complex carbohydrates (whole grain

cereals, brown rice, beans), consume a portion of fresh fruits and green vegetables

twice a day with clean protein. Do not forget to include red meat once a week, it has and

unique chain of 8 amino acids, which are the ones that build and recovery the muscles

in the body. Another healthy choice is low the ingest of salt, no smoke tobacco, and

moderate the consumption of alcoholic beverages. People that follow these

recommendations take care of themselves and feel better about their bodies.

Lastly, taking care of personal health leads to the development of a better social

life and psychological benefits, which is related to body and mind. The self-esteem that

a person gains when is in shape and feels well is enormous. For example, regular

exercises release a chemical called endorphins, which are in charge to change your

mood. Enjoying eating in the family, smiling, laughing loud are factors to create a

healthy mind and better social relationships. Also, practicing meditation, yoga, and

exercises of relaxation gives a person a positive attitude in life. Instance, people

socialize when they join gyms, group exercises, street cycling, etc. We can say that

people who have a healthy lifestyle feel better, and they are satisfied with their social

life.

Hence, the changes that people do for having a healthy lifestyle are not easy at

the beginning but with time become a routine. People can start with small steps each
week until they have transformed their lives. Acquiring a healthy lifestyle takes a lot of

effort, but physical activity, a healthy diet, and social-psychological benefits are worthy.
