Let’s get practical.

A young couple is back from a holiday in Italy and is keen on giving a Tuscan
Inspired touch to their apartment. It’s a 2bhk flat (including a mini balcony) and
the budget is flexible (negotiable).
The pre-owned furnishings include a couch, kitchen cabinets, bed & wardrobe.
The existing (current) design of the home is minimal, modern.
Since they live an urbane life, want the apartment to have a modern yet
traditional feel.
Go ahead and draft a scintillating Tuscan inspired interior design for this
project.

Project: Flat design/decor

Size: 2 (bhk)

Budget: Flexible

Residents: Young couple

Decor Ideas/Personal Choice: Tuscan Interior style

Based on the above pointers, we have the rough decor plan ready.

[Link] for space essentials - Owned space = Furnishings, accents to have an

easy yet permanent feel.
[Link] budget - Flexible = Curating accessories that are exclusive yet within
budget.
[Link] choice - Tuscan inspired decor = Adding tuscan inspired
design/decor accents.

Let’s get started:

Entrance

• Add Wood/Metal side table.

• Solo/Pair of table lamps, few succulents, vases, rustic mini chest -
create an interesting tabletop order. Accents complimenting the
Tuscany vibe [Link] bowl, wicker baskets can be added.
• Spruce up the adjacent wall with no-fuss wall sconces, large mirror.
Living Room

• Since the decor preference is modern meet Tuscany/Traditional - We

need to create a decor that’s a fine mixture of both.
• Walls - Can feature terra-cotta colors. Hardwood flooring, porcelain tiles
make an appropriate choice (if not added previously).
• Furniture – Solid, sturdy wooden furnishings i.e couch, coffee table,
wooden rack can help hint a Tuscany design while plain, subtle
upholstery denote modern design element.
• Accents - Wall art featuring Tuscany countryside, wicker baskets,
wooden chests, greens, earthy vases can complement the overall
casual design plan.
Kitchen

• For Tuscan inspired kitchen - We say go quintessential tuscany. Fix

solid wood cabinets, wooden/tile/terracotta flooring, hand-painted tiles
(if not added previously).
• Create a display rack that resembles a mini Tuscany. Fix a metal
display rack. Add cutlery, dishes, Olive oil cans, fruit bowls, strands of
garlic & chillies, greens. Highlight the area with a vintage tassel lamp!
• For the kitchen/dining area, hang wrought iron pendants, chandeliers.
One or go for a pair!
Bedroom

• Not too traditional, not too modern, but sassy enough to keep it cozy
and comfortable!
• Furnishings - Solid wood bed with wrought iron headboard & footboard.
Bedside tables to store knick-knacks, books. Metal table lamp for subtle
radiance.
• Accents - Tuscan landscape art (can be customized), greens, plain wall
to wall carpet/area rug.
Balcony

• A mini balcony plays a perfect getaway to enjoy a morning cup of coffee

for urbane folks.
• Terracotta wall tiles, flooring can bring in an earthy, Tuscany vibe ( if not
added previously).
• Furnishings - Lightweight wood/metal patio chairs, mini stool, ottoman
can be added. Custom paint it in sunny yellow or olive green. Colourful
chair pads and throw pillows for that extra kick!
• Accents - Potted plants, succulents, hanging creepers, terrarium - keep
it green. Do leave some empty space to walk, function.
Additionals

• Tuscany interior is all about bringing in cheery, family vibe to homes

(Italians love to entertain, invite people over).
• All homes in Tuscany feature decor elements that represent their
culture and country i.e. Hand-painted tiles/dishes, countryside
landscapes (featuring vineyards), mini-wine barrel, olive oil bottles. Can
be sourced or customized.

Case study 2
Let’s get practical.

A client is an AD man aka marketing expert. He leads a busy lifestyle and

ends up stretching the working hrs in the office. He is a bachelor, in his early
forties and adores retro aesthetics. The retroish (early print media)
advertisements have had a huge impact in his professional life.
The apartment is new,1bhk and the budget is negotiable/ mid-big. The
furnishings and accents are yet to be added.

The client is looking forward to building a retro-ish, modern home decor and
wants to reconnect with the era when bold prints, stylish furnishings made a
big impact.

Designers, draft a retro meet modern design for this project!

Project: Styling the flat

Size: 1 (bhk)

Budget: Flexible, negotiable

Residents: Bachelor

Decor Ideas/Personal Choice: Retro meet modern aka Mid-Century Modern

Decor

Based on the above pointers, we have the rough decor plan ready.

[Link] for space essentials - Owned space = Modern, sturdy yet easy-shift
accents
[Link] budget - flexible = Curating accessories that are exclusive, within the
estimated budget
[Link] choice - Retro/modern decor = Mid-century modern decor

Let’s get started:

Living Room

As Mid-century modern is all about adding a punch of colors over a subtle

backdrop, we say, aim for colors that signify being retro [Link], rust,
orange, turquoise, blue, etc.

• Backdrop - Paint the walls neutrals. Let the floors be polished wood.(if
not done previously).
• Furnishings - Settee (couch, chairs) with hairpin legs. Sumptuous
silhouettes and rich upholstery - Velvet, leather it works best. Matt-gold
tone center table, bar-rack for that modern touch.
• Accents - Statement pendant light, floor or table lamp, greens, ad/film
posters framed on the wall (client is an AD man, remember?). Custom-
made rug featuring geometry and colors of all other accents present in
the room!
Kitchen
Since, this is a bachelor's pad, a sleek kitchen with minimum accents on
countertop work best.

• Furniture - Solid, polished wood cabinets, marble countertop forms a

straight line outlook. A set of high chairs to work, read and enjoy a
morning cup of coffee or evening drink.
• Accents - Matt-gold metal pendants, wooden trays, minimal cutlery as
necessary kitchen elements.

Bedroom
While the living room and kitchen portray the subtle, neutral backdrop -
bedroom (being the personal den) can portray a slightly different look.
Furnishings - Solid wood bed, curvy bedside tables occupy the mid-size
bedroom.
Accents - Books, bronze wall sconces, a couple of wall frames (client’s pick)
completes the busy man’s den.

Mini Work area

Since the client ends up stretching a long working hrs in the office, why not
create a cozy work area in the home itself? The same bedroom space can be
utilized.

• Furnishings - Hairpin legs solid wood desk and chairs, wall mounted
bookshelf to make the best use of (minimum) space available.
• Accents - Books, work journals, magazines (client’s frequent
references), couple of mini accents, desk lamp, abstract wall art for that
“thinking man” appeal.
Additionals

Mid-century modern theme loves to incorporate accents that look prominent.

The shape, size and silhouette play a major role here.

Impressive furniture - Hairpin legs side table (functional to store stuff), curvy
accent chair are best to spruce up corners and empty spaces.

Accents - Geometric wall art, tripod floor lamp, retro record player, etc brings
back that mid-modern era where art, opinion, freedom mattered!
Let’s get practical.

Luxury interior, it’s every designer’s dream to work for a project that’s got the
label of opulence!

A plush villa owner is looking forward to styling the informal living room/area
where he can play a perfect host to his clients/friends on weekends. The rest
of the villa has a modern look.

The client wants the entertainment/parlour room to have a “glamorous” look

(jazz, good times). He adores green color and wants the decor to say “green
is glamorous”. Furnishings are yet to be added.

The best part? Budget is negotiable, unlimited and the designer is given full
freedom on the decor front!

Go ahead, work out an amazing decor plan for this luxurious villa!

Let’s match your design plan with ours, shall we?

Project: Styling the luxury entertainment, parlour room

Size: Big

Budget: Unlimited

Residents: A list owner

Decor Ideas/Personal Choice: Glamorous decor

Based on the above pointers, we have the rough decor plan ready.

[Link] for space essentials - Owned space = Sturdy, statement objects.

[Link] budget - Big = Curating accessories that are exclusive, one of a kind.
[Link] choice - Glamorous/ jazz style decor = Art deco style (gives art
nouveau, jazz, glamour look)

Let’s create an Art-Deco style parlour room:

Entertainment/Parlour Room

Since the rest of the villa has a modern (minimal) look, the parlour room can
appear busy, cozy and perfect to make long-lasting conversations!

• Walls and floor - Color palette could be subtle yet glamorous. Shades of
grey, white, gold work well as rich colors. Walls can feature dark grey,
wainscoting/veneer panel. Also, rich hardwood flooring in herringbone
pattern brings in geometric touch.

• Furnishings - Tufted couch, accent chair, ottoman featuring lush

upholstery [Link], leather work well. Matt gold metal coffee table,
side table to display accents.

• Accents - Statement chandelier, Big portrait, Sculpture, large leaves,

hide-skin rug (custom-made, sourced), to evoke a luxury impact.
Bar area

The entertainment room is big. Why not make the best use of it and create a
plush bar area in the corner?

The client wants the space to say “green is glamorous”. We think the bar area
could go “all green”!

• Walls - Emerald green wall paint/wallpaper/fabric panel can dazzle the

wall. Rich wood panels with gold border(rims featuring geometry) give
the art-deco vibe.

• Furnishings - Velvet bar table, high chairs with hairpin legs, ottomans
(continuing the green theme) are perfect “glamour” additions.
• Accents - Gold/matte gold metal pendants, wall sconces defining lines
to radiate the bar area!
