WF Calibration Steps

The document provides instructions for calibrating a Schenck weigh feeder using an Intecont Plus controller. It describes procedures for speed calibration, tare calibration, and span calibration. Speed calibration involves entering encoder pulse data or tacho frequency data. Tare calibration sets the zero point with no material on the belt. Span calibration verifies the accuracy by hanging a known weight and comparing the measured value. The calibration processes require entering passwords and parameter values at specific steps.

Schenck make weigh feeder calibration procedure with Intecont Plus

1) Speed Calibration –
Take down the data from Technical Data Sheet
Calculation of Imp/mtr

Imp/mtr = Encoder Tacho Freq * Nominal Speed

Encoder Freq = ( Encoder pulse/ Rev * Motor RPS at 60Hz ) / Gear ratio
Encoder Frq = (2000Pulse/Rev * 30 Rev / Sec ) / 170
= 354 Pulse / Sec,
Note : 30 RPS = 1800 RPM at 60 Hz motor
Nominal Speed = 0.11 m/sec as per TDS.

Imp/mtr = 354 X 0.11m/sec = 3217 i/m

Or

For Proxy sensor applications…

Tacho frequency = Motor RPS * no of pulse per rev,
= 1800RPM
Calculated data enter in Parameter = B04
To enter this parameter go through following procedure-
1) Press Function Distributor Key

2) Press Up or Down Key till display shows “Programming”

2) Tare Calibration :-
There are two Tare calibration parameters,
i) Under Function Distributor without password (Normally this is used for operation
people). The name indicates “>0: Zero Set”
ii) Second under Calibration Function with password protected. The name indicates
“TW: Tare”
The difference between two Tare programs is as follows,
“TW: Tare”
a) Required password.
b) The result is directly stored in
“D04 Basic Tare” and same data are stored in “D03 Total Tare”

Before Tare calibration ensure the following,

1) Clean mechanical equipment of weigher in weighing area.
2) Run the empty belt with Nominal Feed Rate set point in volumetric mode. (reference
parameter “B02”)

Tare calibration follow steps given……

1) Press Function Distributor Key

2) Press Up or Down Key till display shows “Calibration Functions”

3) Press Enter Key

4) Display will shows “Password ”

Enter password 07734 in numeric keys (Display will not show the entered data)

5) After giving password press Enter Key

6) Press Up or Down Key till display shows “TW: Tare”

7) Press Enter Key

8) In run program display shows >. TW: 90.02%

Tara 55.32%

9) After program complete display shows >. abw 2.45%

Tara 53.20%

10) After showing this display press enter key

The data will be automatically stored in parameter D04.

After completing tare program proceed for span program.

Note: Tare calibration abw tolerance +/- 0.09 %

6) Press Up or Down Key till display shows “CW: Check Weight”

7) Press Enter Key

8) In run program display shows >. CW: 90.02%

Set/Act 1.03

9) After program complete display shows >. CW 4.6kg

Kor 1.02
9) After showing display note down the value and enter in parameter D02

Important Formulas:
1) Feed rate or Flow rate = Belt Load * Belt Speed * 3.6,
(T/H) = (KG/M) * (M/SEC) * 3.6.
I = Q * V *3.6.

HERE, 3.6 = 1/1000 *3600/1

1 KG = 1/1000 TON,
1 SEC = 1/3600 HOUR;

2) BELT LOAD = WEIGHT ON THE WEIGHING CRADLE OR WEIGHING PLATFORM/

( PLATE FORM LENGTH * Inclination * Liver Ratio),

3) Belt Speed = belt length / belt revolution time,

4) Belt speed = Tacho Frequency * (Impulse/Meter);

5) Tacho frequency = no of pulse / sec,

4
6) Tacho Frequency = Motor RPS * No of Pulse per rev,(When Tacho proxy sensor is inside
motor shaft) here teeth wheel = 10pulse per rev.

7) Tacho frequency = ((No of pulse/ encoder rev) * Motor RPS) / Gear ratio.(when
encoder/tacho proxy used in pulley shaft).

8) Impulse / meter = (no of pulse / Rev (measuring media)) / (measuring media circumferences/
measuring media). (for Belt Weigher only)

9) Load cell output(mv) = (Excitation voltage(V) * Sensitivity(mv/V) * Weight on

platform(kg))/ Load cell capacity(kg).

10) Error = Actual – Measured,

11) Error % = ((Actual –Measured) * 100)/Actual.

12) Span correction (d02) = (Old Span * Actual)/Measured.

13) Measuring section = (a+a1+b+b1)/4 + (c+c1)/2.
