focus area and given the rapid business growth across the Rest of world region (APAC,
MENA, LATAM), Amazon is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Professional to
join our team. This individual will play a critical role in driving operational implementation
WHS projects/programs at Regional and/or country level. This individual will support
annual improvement projects that span across both high consequence and high
frequency risks, Change Management of new or redesign of equipment and sites,
support ramp up of launches and provide expertise in incident investigations, data
analysis as well as other WHS related initiatives.
This role, based in Mexico, is part of APAC/MENA/LATAM WHS team and will support
all networks to execute towards our goals of safety excellence.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Ensure world-class project and change management across assigned operations.
• Partner with Amazon Customer Excellence System Teams, Operations Engineering
and Safety teams for the scoping, design and execution of continuous improvement
projects.
• Establish regular business cadence to update on progresses.
• Partner with corporate and other regional field safety personnel to leverage global
safety best practices and deploy into ROW network.
• Manage allocated projects based on ROW WHS priorities, and WW WHS goals
• Lead and/or review Serious Injury and Serious Near Miss incident investigations report
to guarantee consistency and high quality deep dive. Provide coaching to WHS team on
incident investigations and execute verification mechanisms for key ‘Network Actions.
• Support developing Regional or Country specific WHS strategic plans and annual
improvement plans
• Support coordination of monthly and quarterly WHS business reviews
• Support developing white papers to support execution of critical strategic WHS
projects, and support presenting at executive level
• Complete detailed multi-factorial analysis to determine critical and key controls to
project execution.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualification
• Degree from an accredited university in safety or a related discipline (e.g. engineering,
ergonomics, industrial hygiene or environment).
• 6+ years of experience in safety or environmental programs in manufacturing,
logistics, warehousing, production, or service operations
• Experience building and deploying programs to address both high consequence and
high frequency risks
• Experience leading change in multiple site environment.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, influencing and program/project management.
• Analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
• Flexible approach to work, able to manage own priorities, workload and travel.
• Capable of writing clear and simple documents that convey complex information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualification
• Master’s Degree safety/industrial/health/quality engineering, safety or other science or
engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certified
• Work experience in a low margin, high volume environment with warehousing and
logistics
• Experience with logistics and road safety (long haul and middle mile)
• Multi-country experience
