Activity No. 2.

1
Name: ERNA P. GAMPAL Course & Year: BSED SCIENCE III
Teacher: ANALISA T. AMADA Ed.D PROGRAM DIRECTOR TEP Date: OCTOBER
11, 2021

Instruction: Answer the following briefly.

1. Differentiate applied research and basic research.

Applied research is a research methodology that creates practical solutions for specific
problems while basic research is an approach to research that seeks to expand
knowledge in a field of study. This means that applied research is solution-driven while
basic research is knowledge-specific.

2. Compare quantitative from qualitative approaches in research.

Quantitative research deals with numbers and statistics, while qualitative research
deals with words and meanings. Quantitative methods allow you to systematically
measure variables and test hypotheses. Qualitative methods allow you to explore
concepts and experiences in more detail.

3. What makes library research different from field research?

Library research involves searching for and accessing the information and data related
to your research topic that already exists. Field research involves making one's own
observations of behavior or phenomena under investigation and collecting one's own
original data

4. How can a researcher obtain correct information?

A research can obtain correct information by wisely searching and getting info from
trusted sources only

5. Which of the qualities of a researcher do you possess? Why?

A good researcher must be open-minded and must also adopt a critical way of thinking.
Besides, he/she should be hard working, diligent, focused and devoted to his/her
specific field of interest

6. What research breakthrough in your lifetime that has directly or indirectly affected
your lifestyle? Why?
Without research we would like also be utterly defenceless to the brutal forces of nature
for example without meteorology we be unable to predict the path of violent storms
hurricanes and tornadoes while a lack of volcanology research would leave a huge
proportion of the world susceptible to the destruction of volcanic eruptions.

Briefly define the following terms as applied to research.

1. Process.
Process is a process of multiple scientific steps in conducting the research work. Each
step is interlinked with other steps. The process starts with the research problem at first.
Then it advances in the next steps sequentially. Generally, a researcher conducts
research work within seven steps
2. Problem.
research problem is a statement about an area of concern, a condition to be improved,
a difficulty to be eliminated, or a troubling question that exists in scholarly literature, in
theory, or in practice that points to the need for meaningful understanding and
deliberate investigation.
[Link].
research question is 'a question that a research project sets out to answer'. Choosing a
research question is an essential element of both quantitative and qualitative research.
Investigation will require data collection and analysis, and the methodology for this will
vary widely.
4. Feasibility.
feasibility study analyzes the viability of a project to determine whether the project or
venture is likely to succeed. The study is also designed to identify potential issues and
problems that could arise from pursuing the project.
5. Clarity.
Be clear: It should distil the key messages and purpose of your paper, without the need
to read the whole article. Clarity involves avoiding jargon, uncommon abbreviations and
references.
6. Significance.
In simple terms, the significance of the study is basically the importance of your
research. The significance of a study must be stated in the Introduction section of your
research paper.
7. Ethical.
Research ethics are moral principles that guide researchers to conduct and report
research without deception or intention to harm the participants of the study or members
of the society as a whole, whether knowingly or unknowingly.
8. Formulation.
Formulation of a research problem means to state the problem in a way that is
researchable. It means to shape the research topic in a manner that it becomes ready
for scientific investigation. A research problem is simply the research topic
9. Empirical
Empirical research is research using empirical evidence. It is also a way of gaining
knowledge by means of direct and indirect observation or experience. Empiricism
values some research more than other kinds. Empirical evidence can be analyzed
quantitatively or qualitatively
10. Method.
Research methods are the strategies, processes or techniques utilized in the collection
of data or evidence for analysis in order to uncover new information or create better
understanding of a topic. There are different types of research methods which use
different tools for data collection

Propose 5 research questions you want to answer through your research. Reason out
why you are asking such question.

What are the methods used especially with respect to online learning-teaching
process?

Online learning is relatively new. The methods have been evolving though over
the recent years. Different groups may be using different methods to teach
language.

What are the challenges of online classroom management?

Online teaching platforms are equipped with different facilities to enable teachers
and students to make the best use of the learning environment. These classes
are more flexible and convenient. It MIGHT promote life-long learning and
computer literacy as well. Additionally, you can save a lot of money by
participating in online classes.

What statistical analysis would be most appropriate?

We are investigating the impact of online learning environment on sustained

attention and student engagement among undergraduate students (Year 1-3).

from your point of view which is better for quality of learning, face-to-face or
online learning, and why?

Correct education in any way is an education that provides tools such as the
recipient, the academic subject, and the professor. Currently, we are engaged in
the experience of distance education or e-learning and it was a successful
experience through which we were able to benefit from this experience through
the income of many courses and educational workshops as well as exam
questions and how to prepare them for students.

How can we compare LMS discussion features?

Does anyone have, or know where I might get a comparison of the threaded
discussion features among popular learning management systems? By
"features" I am thinking about threading, adaptive release, email from thread,
push notifications for posts, etc.
