CHAPTER SEVENTEEN : THE ANOINTING, THE PRESENCE, THE GLORY

The GodHead

Each Person of the Godhead fully expresses the GodHead.

So all that the Father is and all that the Son of God is, the Holy Spirit bring to us.

God The Holy Spirit

1 Peter 4:14
If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory (doxa) and of God rests upon
you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

Jesus was raised from the dead by the glory (doxa) of the Father (Romans 6:4), by the Spirit of
God (Romans 8:11).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of glory. He causes the glory of God to now be in me and displayed
through me.

The Holy Spirit releases a tangible manifestation of the glory of God upon me, through me and
all around me.

Holy Spirit is Spirit of the Lord, Spirit of Might, Spirit of Glory.

As the Spirit of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2), He is the presence of God. "Where can I go from Your
Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?" (Psalm 139:7).

As the Spirit of Might (Isaiah 11:2), He is the Anointing and demonstrates the power of the
Lord.

As the Spirit of Glory (1 Peter 4:14), He causes a release of the glory of God.

The manifestations of the Spirit, we call the 'gifts of the Spirit' are manifestations of His glory.
They put God's glory on display.

2 Corinthians 3:8 how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious?

The ministry of the Spirit causes the glory of God, even greater that that seen under the Old
Covenant to be made manifest.
2 Corinthians 3:18
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same
image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

The Holy Spirit takes us from one realm of glory to the next. There are greater realms of glory
for us to move into in life and ministry.

Different Anointings

The anointing is the empowering of the Holy Spirit upon an individual for service - to empower
the person to do what God wants her/him to do.

The word anoint in the Bible simply means to 'smear' or 'rub into' and normally has reference to
smearing or rubbing with oil.

Luke 4:17-19

There are different kinds of anointings, that is, the same Holy Spirit will empower individuals in
different ways.

For instance there is an anointing specific to each of the five-fold ministry functions of apostle,
prophet, pastor, teacher and evangelist. It is this anointing along with the calling, gift and grace
of God upon that individual that enables her/him to fulfill that ministry function.

There are anointings for other things God calls people to do: lead worship, write, sing, for
business, for creativity, in fact for every assignment that God has a for a person, there is an
anointing.

There are different measures of the anointing.

Recognizing The Anointing, His Presence And Glory

The anointing is God empowering an individual to do His work.

The presence of God is God dispensing Himself (His nature, attributes and His works) in time
and space, in all of His creation, or with an individual.
The glory of God is God revealing Himself in time and space, independently or through an
individual.

Individually
Individually, we carry the anointing, the presence and the glory.

2
The anointing on an individual is usually in line with their calling, grace, gift and function. We
grow in the anointing over our lives.

The presence of God is God with us individually.

Some important keys to practicing the presence of God individually

#1, Obedience
John 14:21-23
21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by
My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?"
23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We
will come to him and make Our home with him.

#2, Acknowledge
Proverbs 3:5-6
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

acknowledge = to know intimately

Walk, talk and think as if you were in His presence.

#3, Praise and Worship

Clear your mind of all thoughts except of thoughts on who God is, thoughts on the greatness
and goodness of God.

As believers we are also carriers, displayers and dispensers of His glory. We have sonship glory
(John 17:22). Christ in us enables us to share in the glory of God (Colossians 1:27). We
manifest His glory through displaying His grace and truth, and through signs and wonders.

Collectively
Collectively, there is a release of the anointing, the presence and the glory.

In any service we must desire, recognize and flow with the anointing, the presence and the glory
of God.

When someone is ministering we must recognize the anointing being released. Learn to receive
what God wants to release.

3
God’s presence is the place of His power. Where God’s presence is released we can expect
manifestations of His power. God’s power causes mighty miracles, signs and wonders to take
place in our midst. We must expect such things to happen each time we are in the presence of
God.

We know that His presence is the carrier of His glory. The presence of God is the environment in
which the glory of God is displayed. In the glory, anything is possible.

At the same time together we must usher in His presence and receiving manifestations of His
glory. We must learn how to usher in His presence and receive manifestations of His glory.

Welcoming (Ushering In) God’s Presence Corporately

As we gather together let us not just do things for the sake of doing them corporately. When we
worship, when we hear the Word, when we pray, let us desire for Him – for His presence being
manifested in our midst in tangible ways.

May our corporate gatherings be saturated with God’s manifest presence so much so that each
time we meet there are explosions of mighty miracles, changed lives, notable healings, and so
much more!

Lord let the fire of your presence fall on us!

Lord let the light of your presence flood our lives!
Lord let the rain of your presence be poured out on us!
Lord let the glory of your presence rest on us!
Lord let the power of your presence cause wonders amongst us!

What can we do to usher in the presence of God, so that the glory of God is manifested?
We have talked about these before, but this is just a reminder:

#1, Intense Hunger

The glory of God is like a cloud. The cloud can actually provide rain when water droplets
become heavy enough to overcome air resistance and are pulled down because of gravity.
Similarly, the glory cloud of God's manifest presence actually has rain of miracles, signs,
wonders, harvest of souls, etc. We must have a continued hunger and desperate desire to see
His power and glory.

Psalm 63:1-2
O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty
land Where there is no water. So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, To see Your power and Your glory.

We must cry out to God, until manifestations happen.

#2, Praise and Worship

We are familiar with this.

There are times when there is a heightened intensity of His presence and God is moving in a
strong, forceful powerful way - like a "rushing mighty wind", like a "mighty warrior", like the "King
of glory"

God's entrance and arrival is to be welcomed with great pomp, grandeur, befitting the King of
glory, One who is Strong, Mighty, Triumphant and Eternal.

David brought the Ark of the Testimony back into City of David with much dancing (2 Samuel
6:12-15)

In heaven, where His glory fills the entirety of everything, there are times of solemn worship. And
there are times of loud praise, sound that is like mighty thunderings.

Mighty things happen during such moments, chains are broken, healings, miracles take place.
Angels are released to do mighty things.

"Praise..until the spirit of worship comes. Worship..until the glory comes. Then..stand in the
glory." - Ruth Ward Heflin

#3, Being Still

Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I am God

Silence and quietness are important keys to stepping into the glory.

Silence gets rid of outward disturbances.

Quietness of the soul, the inner man is also important. Get rid of inner disturbances.

Still your mind by meditating on the Word and by focusing on Jesus in worship.

There are times when God is moving in His holy dwelling and all we are required to do is stay
still in silence. Be still. No music. No singing. Nothing. We just bask in His presence. This is the
time just to soak and linger in His presence.

There are times when God moves upon us and does a deep work within us.
This could be cleansing, refining, inner healing, release from hurts and wounds, etc.

5
We must yield and respond to His moving. We must engage with Him to receive His deep inner
work.
There may be tears, crying, repentance, weeping, wailing, or many other emotions being
expressed.

Psalm 42:7-8
7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.
8 The LORD will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me— A
prayer to the God of my life.

#4] Faith

When the presence of God is manifested, the Holy Spirit does great and mighty things in our
midst. Amazing things happen. This is the time we must receive by faith. God may lead us to do
things we would normally not do in the natural. But because His presence overshadows us.

John 11:40
Jesus said to her, "Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?"

In the glory there is no limitation of distance or time. We speak, declare, act and do whatever the
Lord says, and miracles will take place.

Faith taps in to the power of God.

When we are in an atmosphere where the presence of God is released we need to know that
God’s power is right there in our midst.

All it takes is a touch of faith for the power of God to be released into our lives – our bodies, our
circumstances, etc. – to bring healing, cause miracles and much more.

God completes our work of faith with His power. As we exercise our faith the power of God goes
in to operation causing manifestations of the supernatural.

As we learn to follow the leading of His presence, we must learn to recognize what specific thing
God is doing and go with that. In a single service there may be changes in the move of His
presence amongst us. There may be times of stillness and waiting. There may be times of deep
engaging and responding. There may be times of great energetic exuberance. We must go with
the flow. Follow the cloud. Stay under the cloud of His presence.

All of the above is applicable to our personal lives, the season that God takes us through.

6
Get Hungry for New Realms of Glory

We need to rise to new levels of glory.

2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us that we move from glory to glory, implying greater glory.

Haggai 2:9 the latter house will have greater glory than the former.

We need to become desperate for new levels. We need to hunger and yearn for new levels of
glory.

Desire to become a carrier of greater levels of glory.

Don't let fear of persecution and criticism hold you back from pressing in for new levels of glory.

Don't get offended by what the new level of glory might bring or how it might manifest itself
(Luke 7:23).

Every new move of God's Spirit will have its own uniqueness to it, along with similarities to past
moves of God.

Don't get offended how or through whom God's sends the new move of glory. God often uses
the foolish to confound the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27-29).
