V. Project Description:

a. Background of the Project:

Food is a luxury that many disadvantages Filipino children cannot afford. Organize a new program to
assist these children in progressing further and becoming a part of the mainstream, where they are no longer a
communal liability. The Nutrition Component is responsible for ensuring that the children have access to
adequate food that is nutrient-dense. Many children are malnourished and ill, and as a result, they are unable to
function regularly at home and at school (Ferrer J., 2013). The program is set to happen in Panabo Park which is
located in Barangay. New Pandan Panabo City. Our target would be 15-20 child participants aged 5 to 10 years
old. Based on our observation there are many homeless children who stayed in the park begging for food and
money to survive. However, we all know that children are one of the vulnerable in this pandemic and it is
important for them to be safe that is why aside for feeding program, we decided to give them mask, alcohol and
soap to be safe from the spread of covid19 virus. One of the problems if we conduct this program is the lack of
funds which can lead to shortage of foods and personal hygiene. Even though it cannot be solved immediately
we are making ways to solve it for the betterment of the children.

The advantages of this feeding program on children will help them to fill their tummy to alleviate their
hunger in just once and also by giving them foods we can ensure that they will feel happy and can be able to give
us a smile after giving them the foods that we distribute to them and also, it would be helpful for the children to be
more energize on that day only and by giving them a basic necessities children can ensure also that they will
keep them feel in danger while we are facing the COVID-19 pandemic by the basic necessities that we will
handing out they can use it to prevent the spread of the virus. The disadvantages are it cost too much expenses,
the meals are mostly hygienic which have adverse effects on children. Giving mask and alcohol to children
reduces their chance of getting a respiratory inspection because we all know that corona virus spreads mostly by
inhaling respiratory droplets produced by infected people when they cough, sneeze, talk or breath. If we do not
give homeless children masks and alcohols, they might get easily infected with the virus especially since they do
not have the money to buy medicine and healthy foods.

We came up with the advocacy in improving the children by observing what is lacking and planning
what we can do to help. Within 1 day that we’re going to spend in this activity, we will be able to help, contribute
and give love to the children. We choose this because we know by this activity, we can help children who really
needs our help also, by this activity we can spread the essence of unity which could be a great start to influence
the other youths.

b. Justification of the Project:

As a result of the pandemic, our world is constantly changing, and our lives are becoming more
miserable and worse than they were before the pandemic; many people lose their jobs, their loved ones, and
their ability to interact with one another; we came up with this idea because children are the ones who are
gradually affected by the problems that we are currently facing; children are the hope of our society, and we must
show love and care to them.

We needed to learn that a feeding program can empower them and supply them with appropriate
nutrition so that they may go about their everyday lives and become more responsible children to their parents,
allowing them to aspire for a brighter future. Finally, the benefits of feeding programs extend beyond providing
nutritious meals for children; another communal benefit of feeding program is that the food provided can help
people feel more energized.

Furthermore, giving out basic necessities to the children who can attend our community immersion can
be beneficial for them in helping them to be healthier and ensuring that the virus does not easily spread to their
playmates. Additionally, the children can realize how important it is to be more focused on themselves and be
more aware that the basic necessities that we will hand out can help them to improve their physical health and
ensure that they are safe every time they went outside.

c. Benefits derived from the Project:

Feeding programs basically involve delivering or providing a meal or snack to beneficiaries, the majority
of whom are children. This feeding program is very important because it helps children on the street who are
asking for food and encourages people to help as well. Through our program, we can help the ethnic children at
least by giving them food, so that their hunger will be removed at least once a while, and basic necessities, as
well as keeping them clean in terms of physical cleanliness, as we are the ones who personally prepared and
organized the food to be cooked and organized. Through our program as well, the children will learn how to give;
they will learn through cooperation, and this will give them a warm experience from their childhood that they can
take into the future. Furthermore, we can also make them happy, even with a little help from us, and they can
realize that there are still people like us who can help them, even in a one-day feeding program. Giving food will
make them happy, giving basic necessities will make them clean and sterilize themselves, and giving them
giveaways as a prize will make them have enormous smiles on their faces as they appear to be very delighted.
Children learnt the value and importance of giving without expecting anything in return by making the food,
serving the children, and engaging them in a variety of games and activities. It took a lot of effort, but it was all
worth it in the end.

d. Coverage

We implemented our community immersion in Panabo City Parks and Plaza because we see that is the
perfect place for our community immersion that we will do to provide food and necessities. By immersing
ourselves in a community and surrounding by people who are dedicated to helping the public, we can learn so
much about how the world works. We gain a unique significance of purpose by serving those who around us.

VI. Methodology:

In this project, We planned and aimed to give a high quality services to the children and also give a
basic necessities in order for the children to know how important is it to become more aware about the things that
is happening to their environment, and we planned to implement this community immersion at the Barangay New
Pandan, Panabo City (Panabo City Parks and Plaza).

Furthermore, during the day of passing the letter of request to the barangay, at the Barangay New
Pandan, where the place we planned to implement our community immersion, specifically at the Panabo City
Parks and Plaza, we experience some technicalities because our letter of request was so messed up and not
written correctly and the academic writing of it was so worse, so we came up on this idea of my groupmates to
make a letter of hoping for the best that the officials in the barangay would accept it, thankfully our letter of
request was accepted.

In addition, the acceptance letter from the city mayor’s office was given to us after 2(two) days of waiting,
all of us are so grateful that we have done it easily and the officials in the city mayors office accepted our letter of
request whole heartedly. However, in our memorandum of agreement, it was totally messed up again because all
of us does not have any idea on how to make it, in our memorandum of agreement we indicate all of the things
that we needed to do and we put it all on our memorandum of agreement that is why it was rejected by the mayor
in the city, he told us that we need to be more specific and teach us on how to make a proper memorandum of

agreement and after that we revised it with my groupmates and we make it as what the captain told us and after
that we passed it again and the captain of the barangay accepted it and put his signature gracefully and happily.
The day we implemented our community immersion at the Panabo City Parks and Plaza, it was a big
opportunity not just for us but for those children whom our participants, seeing them being happy as we provided
them some good foods and some basic necessities makes our heart so happy also by seeing their smiles was
such a big impact for us because we already know that our community immersion was ended successfully and
also we did not expect that it would be a success but thankfully we withstand and implement it.
