IV. Lesson Proper
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Preparatory Activity
Prayer
One student stands as the prayer leader
Greetings
Good morning class!
Good morning ma’am!
Routine Attendance Check
Is there any absent for today’s class?
Nobody’s absent ma’am.
Then students will then seat properly, and
prepare for the lesson
A. Motivation
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Ok class before we start our topic, you’re
going to think of a possible situation on what
will happen on this picture.
(Display first slide) What’s the possible
situation to happen if you’re going to see
this? Martil.
The possible situation to happen is someone will
trip, falls or hurt.
Good! Okay, how about this? Vidal.
The possible situation to happen is an error in
connection to router, system unit, speakers,
power supply. Etc.
That’s true! Lastly, what’s the possible
situation to happen if you’re going to see
this? Mike.
The possible situation to happen is an Electric
Shock or burn.
Ok class, what did you noticed or observes
during this activity.
We observed that when computer cables, plugs,
wires are not properly connected, arranged or
fixed on its place there’s always risk when
neglected
Very good class!!!
B. Presentation of the New Lesson
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Define key vocabularies: Computer
Workplace Hazards; OHS (Occupational
Safety and Health)
Ok class let’s define first the word hazard?
Zaccheo.
A hazard is any source of potential damage,
harm or adverse health effects on something or
someone.
Ok thank you, so hazard is anything that can
harm you or someone.
What is hazard identification? Mauro.
Hazard identification is part of the process used
to evaluate if any particular situation, item,
thing, etc.
Very Good!
Next, OHS (Occupational Safety and
Health). Laura.
OHS is a planned system of working to prevent
illness and injury where you work by
recognizing and identifying hazards and risks.
Excellent!
Ok thank you, so why do you think OHS is
important? Kayla.
OSH is important to identify to eliminate the
hazards where you working and decide how
dangerous they are.
C. Disscussion
Teacher Activity Student Activity
1. Discuss 3 steps used to manage health
and safety at work (explain and give
example)
a. Spot the hazard (Hazard identification)
b. Assess the Risk (Risk Assessment)
c. Make the changes (Risk Control)
2. Discuss common hazards encountered by
computer technicians and users (explain and
give examples).
a. Physical hazards
b. Mechanical hazards
c. Chemical Hazards
d. Electric Shock hazards
e. CRT monitors high voltage hazards.
3. Discuss important ways to control and
prevent risk from hazards (explain and give
examples).
a) Trying a less risky option.
b) Preventing access to the hazards.
c) Organizing your work to reduce
d) Use of protective equipment
D. Generalization
Teacher Activity Student Activity
In our lesson what you have learned about
controlling hazard at work? Yes, Aldin.
I learned that to control hazards I need to know
what the hazards and identify safety and health
hazards.
So how about in managing health and safety
at work? Yes! Xian.
To manage health and safety at work I must
know some ways to prevent and control hazards.
Very Good! Okay, class did you understand
our lesson for today?
Yes, Teacher!
Excellent!
E. Valuing
Teacher Activity Student Activity
We had talk about the importance of
identifying what is hazard and how harm it
may affect us.
Can anyone cite at least one common hazards
encountered by computer technicians and
users today.
Okay, Alleah.
Physical hazards, Ma’am.
Very Good! How about you Merla?
Mechanical hazards, Ma’am.
Another? Cara.
Electric Shock hazards, teacher.
Very Good!
F. Expansion
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Role Play: “Divide the class into 3 groups.
You will do the activity below. Each member
of the group will play a role.
Directions: Upon learning to determine the
ways to prevent and control the risk of
hazard, reflect and show it in the class
through role play.
Group 1: Assess yourself with your family
by identifying what is hazard and how harm Yes! Ma’am.
it may affect.
Group 2: Shows possible ways on how you
will prevent yourself from being harm while
using computer.
Group 3: Things you can possibly do to
yourself to become responsible in managing
healthy and safety at work.
Suggested Situations:
We can show our own ways to control and
prevent risk from hazards.
1. Look at the physical work
environment, equipment, materials,
products, etc. that are used.
2. Look at the way the work is
organized or done (include
experience of people doing the work,
systems being used, etc).
3. Pay attention to signs and other
warnings in your work
G. Evaluation
Teacher Activity Student Activity
A. Direction: Read carefully each statement
below. Place T on the line if the statement is
TRUE. Place F if the statement is FALSE.
_____1. Health and safety procedure is the
responsibility of all persons in the computer
and technology industries.
_____2. Spotting the hazards means working
out how likely it is that a hazard will harm
someone and how serious the harm could be.
_____3. If you need temporarily run a cable
across the floor, place a danger sign similar to
those wet floor signs used by cleaning
devices.
_____4. An LCD Monitor has a high –
voltage anode inside it, which can carry a
charge of up to 25, 000 volts, and it can still
be holding a high charge days after the power
is removed.
_____5. A hazard is any source of potential
damage, harm or adverse health effects on
something or someone.
V. Assignment
Teacher Activity Student Activity
Give at least 5 hazards at home when
operating a computer and it risk. Place your
answer on one fourth sheet of paper. Be able
to pass it next meeting.
