1. What environmental issues and concerns move and provoke you to take action?
What efforts and practical steps do you do to influence others to take action?
The environmental concerns and issues that provoke me to take action is the
climate change. One way to become proactive with the issue is that we need to
make practical steps to at least help the earth recover. Say for example, one way
to help is to drive less when you can. Rather than using your own personal car,
try to carpool or use public transportation, like we go to school, or if our
destination is close enough, maybe try to consider walking or riding a bike.
Carbon dioxide is a major contributor to climate change and every kilometer you
drive, carbon dioxide will harm the atmosphere. When I go to school, I walk not
because I don’t have a personal car, but because it is not necessary to call a
vehicle when my school is close enough. As an advocate of earth saver, this is
really one of my platforms to influence people and convince them why we should
care.

2. What are the greening initiatives are done by your department, college or
community? Are you involved in them? If yes, in what ways? If no, what are the
reasons?
in my community, we encourage people to make an action into the idea of “Zero
waste – don’t waste the waste”. We use the 3R’s and recycle wastes into energy
for sustainability. The people in my barangay that lead by the youth organization
have contributed a lot to regain earth’s beauty and health. We plant trees and we
rally to encourage the near barangay to do the same activity. We also volunteer
to clean the roads and rivers, pick up some plastics and recycle it. The youth
organization has a lot in mind to help and we as members are truly cooperating.
3. What personal greening initiative would you propose to your own campus,
community and home? Elaborate
The greening initiative that I want to propose to my campus, community and
home is to plant bamboos. Bamboos are natural air purifier and they multiply
every year, that means while we plant trees and bamboos, the number of
bamboo trees that we have planted (as if) is counting at the same time.
Therefore, we could save more time to take actions on several issues that we
encounter environmentally.

4. Are you an eco-literate person?
I believe, yes. Not because I know about what ecosystem is and how does it
work, but because I care and do things to help mother earth, our home revive.
