Iligan Arnis Team Bags 52 Medals in the 16th WEKAF World


Championship

Dominant Arnis fighters from Iligan City earned 52 medals, with seventeen
golds, seventeen silvers and eighteen bronze in the 16th edition World Eskrima Kali
Arnis Federation World Championship held at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural
Complex last July 18 to 22, 2022. 

The Iligan City Arnis team bested other athletes from 11 countries who
participated in the 16th WEKAF Word Championship Philippines 2022. Via Rashiel Mae
Lara, Aiza Maukuo, Ashly Joy Rico, and Nawawie Pamaloy led the charge for
Iligan Team with two gold medals each.

Sir King Belmonte, City Sports Officer, acclaimed the triumphs of the Iligan City

athletes during the flag raising ceremony at the Anahaw Amphitheater for giving the
benevolent pride and honor to the city in the in the 16th edition World Eskrima Kali
Arnis Federation World Championship. They competed with other countries like USA,
South Korea, India, United Kingdom, Portugal, Switzerland, Germany and Brazil.
