Tournament Rules 1.2
Swiss Style Tournament
A Swiss Style tournament allows all participants to play in each round of a tournament.
Unlike Single Elimination Tournaments and Double Elimination Tournaments, no
player is ever eliminated from the tournament. This is somewhat similar to a Round
Robin Tournament, except in a swiss tournament the pairings in subsequent rounds
are determined by a player’s record.
In the first round of the tournament there is a random drawing for the pairings. The
idea of a Swiss Style tournament is that each player is matched against another player
who has done as well or not so well as themselves. In the second round, players that
won in the first round face off and players that lost in the first round face off. In the
third round, players that are 2-0 play, players that are 1-1 play and players that are 0-2
play. This continues until the predetermined number of rounds has been reached. No
teams should ever face off twice.
Tournament Formats
• Swiss Format
• A match consists of one game
• 60 minute matches (the TO may adjust this time before the tournament begins)
Match Structure
A match consists of one game. Players may choose to play as any of the Rivet Wars
factions during a match. Both players may choose the same faction.
The players roll a D6 to determine which scenario the match will use.
• 1-2 scenario #1
• 3-4 scenario #2
• 5-6 scenario #3
Command Ribbon
At the end of each match players are awarded Command Ribbons based on how they
played. For each game a player wins, they receive 2 Command Ribbons. If a game has

not finished in the allotted time, the player with the most Victory Points at the end of
the last round is considered the winner. Players will be given the chance to finish the
current round in play if it has begun and is not the firtst round of the game. If there is a
tie then each player receives 1 Command Ribbon.
The tournament organizers should track the results of each match noting the Command
Ribbons awarded and the final Victory Point scores of each game.
Byes
If there are an odd number of players, a player is randomly chosen to sit out for a round
of matches. That player is awarded 2 Command Ribbons and no VP. A player should
only receive 1 Bye per tournament.
Victory
At the conclusion of the tournament a player’s Command Ribbons are added up. The
player with the most Ribbons is the winner of the tournament. If there is a tie, each
player’s Victory Point total is compared and the player with the highest total is the
winner.
At the discretion of the tournament organizer, awards may be granted for first,
second and third place in the tournament depending on the number of player in the
tournament.
Cheating
No cheating will be tolerated. Players may request a TO review any allegations of
cheating. The TO may immediately remove any player from the tournament if he
believes a player has cheated.
Slow Play
Stalling a game is not acceptable. All players must play in a timely fashion. If the TO
believes a player is stalling he may warn the player and/or at his discretion remove
VP from the offending players score and/or remove the offending player from the
tournament.
